I'd rather have Anderson than Pierre. It would be nice to have someone waiting in the wings if Anderson gets off to another horsecrap start. If he hits OK in spring training I'd give him one more try. After all it took Crede a long time to be a standout at the plate. But I definitely don't have the love for Anderson and no other teams will have love for a cf if he can't at least put up Rowand like numbers.

Hey, do we want to give Sammy Sosa a try now that he wants back in the bigs? JUST KIDDING! Just wanted to see if anybody would have a heart attack.

I can't believe how bad a 3B coach Cora was. Can anybody list some of his more memorable waves home? I wonder what Joey's percentage was when he waved a guy. I remember one game a guy barely crossed 3B bag when the outfielder picked up the ball.

Dump Riske.

What do you want him to do? When has he not shown respect and maybe even some love for the Sox? He's been our best pitcher forever and has been a total class act. Who cares if he goes to pitch for the Cardinals some day? There is no more loyalty in baseball. Did you notice Big Hurt was wearing green this year?

Frank should sign with Det or Minnesota. 19 games against us and with his being motivated, he's probably guaranteed a good season just of all the bombs he's gonna hit off our Sox pitchers.

Dave Roberts looking like a strong possibility

I'd rather have slap hitter Pierre than old guy Roberts. -
I'm not tired of the saga because it's no big deal. He loves the Cardinals. Big deal. Didn't he even beat the Cardinals this year for us? Mark needs to get his act togther next season. He really was giving up some bombs the second half. He was a gopher ball waiting to happen. He sucked. He's above criticismi right now, though. He deserves all the benefit of the doubt after all he's done for the Sox franchise and World Series winner.

Uh oh, just read in the Detroit press the Tigers may go after Big Hurt. We do not want to face Big Hurt in 19 games next year. This is potentially disastrous for us. The same article said the Tigers "are stuck with Magglio Ordonez and his big contract." No love for Maggs. Who do you all think will go after Hurt the hardest in free agency? I don't want to see him in Detroit.

When do you think KW will trade one of our starters to make room for Brandon? Anybody have a prediction on the date? I say it'll be in mid December.
-
That tired argument really does annoy me too. Like you said, why weren't the Cardinals all worn out. So our season this year ended in early October. The Tigers played what, four more weeks. So they get 14 weeks off and we get 18 weeks off. Meanwhile some guys are already playing winter ball. So the Tigers and Cardinals next year should wear out in August and September and we should be fresh because we got 4 more weeks off? Stupid.

Joe Buck does a great job IMO. I loved in a regular season game some fan was waving and doing stupid things while on the cellphone like fans do right behind the announcer on the field. Buck said, 'too bad you can't do your report without some idiot behind you.' I had to laugh at that. People who wave while talking on their cells are annoying.

I think it's great Mark had a Cardinals hat on and is supporting his favorite team. It's obvious he gives his all on the field for the White Sox. Thing is, he was human last year on the mound and if we trade him now the sting will not be nearly as bad. Mark really was hittable the second half. He was pretty bad.

All teams get tickets for their front office guys. If they wanna go, they go. GO SOX!
-
Actually trading Mark to St. Louis could be good for both parties. Do they have anybody worth a bleep that we want? We should trade them Mark for 4 young pitchers or something.

Nice win. Once again a team accused of choking late in the season wins it all. Baseball is a funny game. Momentum exists. The Tigers simply did not hit after that layoff. They can blame the layoff like some of our fans are blaming being "tired" after winning the Series last year. I guess we don't have to worry about the Tigers next season. They played til late October so they will be worn out all season and won't repeat.

Who says Anderson found his stroke? He gave me a stroke watching him take feeble swings at the ball and hit blistering pop ups.
-
Great post winningugly. I am amazed at how bad the Tigers are playing. It's like the ghost of Roger Maris pushed Granderson to the turf and that throw to first on the bunt was horrific. And there was no reason Monroe (lf?) was playing so far in on that line drive off his glove. Bad baseball. That said, it's not over yet. The Cardinals are equally mediocre and could easily drop the next 3. Cards starter had nothing tonight. I was amazed at Maggs' horrific at bats tonight. He was getting some meat to hack at. Tigers are in a funk right now.

Any realistic way to upgrade the starting pitching?
greg775 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We desperately need somebody like Kenny Rogers/Jamie Moyer. What do you guys have against signing Redman to a cheap deal and see what he can do as a veteran? Sometimes it's about more than numbers. He didn't pitch that bad this past year with woeful (except against the Sox) KC. -
Good stats, kalapse. I can't argue with those numbers. Not bad at all.
-
Didn't Johnny Callison play for the Cub at the end? He was a pretty good player. Remember in those days pitching dominated, too.
-
These grades made you want to puke? I don't know why some people thought these guys were so good. C is average; does anybody back me that all 5 of these guys were average? What's so mean about that? These guys did not have stellar seasons. OK I could go B- but what's wrong with a C?
-
I think our competition remains in the Central. We should have been able to beat out the Twins this year but we simply sucked the second half. The Tigers probably aren't going away and the Twins seem to be good every year. The Royals already are competitive against us. Who's to say Cleveland doesn't rebound. Entering this past season the Indians were expected to be good again. We do have to make some changes or we're not going to make the playoffs again. If we enter the season with the same roster as this year, we're out again. So trade Pods, one of our starters, one of our young ofs or Fields and let KW do his magic.
-
Why? They were almost the same as yours. I wasn't as harsh on Pods.

I don't know why you'd say AJ doesn't deserve better than a C. Look around baseball. There aren't many better hitters at the catcher position. I don't know his stolen base stats as to how well he threw guys out. Is he still respectable there? Anybody know? But judging from some of his key bombs which should have sparked this team big time but didn't, I think he deserves the A minus; B plus type grade. My bullpen grades were basically Cs. I thought Jenks deserved an A because of his great save totals. Those other guys I thought were average at best. I guess MacD mighta deserved a B- in my mind but not much better than that.
