I wouldn't tell em to f off, but I would give a thumbs down to those guys you mentioned as well as Kenny Williams, Mark B, Alomar (I know he didn't do anything wrong, he's just too old), Mack (he actually would be an OK sub as long as it's not center I guess), Brian A (I know he's young but I tired of his feeble at bats and inability to make anything happen at the plate even when he got a couple hits), Cora, and BMac (see Anderson comments and substitute pitching for hitting). Thumbs up go to Paulie, Dye, Thome, Iguchi, Crede, AJ, Jose C, Thornton and MacDougal, Jon Garland, Bobby, our trainer Herb Schneider (sp?), Cintron, Ozuna (for hustling at least), and our batboys. On paper, starting next year assuming our second half effort is the real Sox, we are a fourth place team in our division. Hope we tinker and our pitching comes back to make us a contender.

The Twins showed that a s***ty start doesn't necessarily bury a team. Just like Houston last year.
-
That was an amazing moment. I called my dad in Chicago as i did in the Series and playoffs last year. It seemed like the magic was continuing this season. That 3 game sweep of the Tigers in August also was nice at the Cell. It seemed to me we would take that and it would propel us to a big finish and maybe even a repeat world championship. For some reason Detroit was the only team we could play well against, though. It's hard to believe how we went in the tank.

I'd start Charlie, Brandon, who else we got to start? p.s. did you see Oz's quote about Jose C's injury? Oz joked about him being 90 years old. Is this another guy who has lied about his age? We should consider dumping Jose and signing Moyer. Is Kenny Rogers available or did he sign a long term in Det?
-
How did our fans react after the game was over? It was a nice home win with the home runs (what else, when we win). Did they cheer or just walk away.
-
Play all the young guys we have; start Charlie. Play all younguns in Minn. and fill in the rest of the slots with veterans. No Mack. No Alomar please.
-
What is all your reaction? Mine I must admit was pretty negative, mad that the Twins and Tigers completely manhandled the Royals this year and we could do nothing with them. Mad that we really played pretty bad against all teams in our division and the future is definitely in jeopardy suddenly. On one hand I feel like we have wasted a golden opportunity, that we had the type of team that could make some noise. Then I see Garland fall into the same rut as our other starters and simply wonder what the bleep is goin on???? Our rotation which was supposed to be dominant for years now may be suspect. Our bullpen is very bad with the exception of our closer. And our lineup needs to be fixed. A key injury to Paulie, Crede or Konerko could be a killer. p.s. the indians fans are giving oz the choke sign. I can't believe our season is over. WHo'd a thunk we could be this bad the second half? Ever since Mark B was named an all star we tanked.
-
Anybody else want to brag about their prediction coming true? I said 4-9 in the last 13 and I stand by it. I'm right on track. The way we've played, we are looking at fourth or fifth place next year. We better make major changes. Minn - better than us. Det - better than us. Cleve and KC - equal to us the second half of season.
-
If he's mentally screwed up, we certainly haven't heard anything like that from BMac himself in the papers or the writers haven't even implied that. I don't know why everybody thinks the Sox ruined him. I really really hope BMac excels as a starter next year. If he sucks, however, I hope everybody gets off this kick that he was ruined by Oz/KW. At one point is the pitcher accountable? I hope we trade Fred or Vas cause after a year of talking about BMac's misuse, etc. I want to see him start a full season.
-
I said I recognize they are injured and for that I applaud them. I don't appreciate being called an idiot for thinking that the "tired" excuse is lame. Just because we played an extra three weeks last year? Then why did Boston make the playoffs last year. I applaud many of our Sox; I simply for the life of me can't believe we didn't make the playoffs. And yes did you notice Detroit AGAIN beat the piss out of the Royals this weekend in KC. The Twins and Tigers OWNED the Royals; we didn't really own anybody. I said our pitchers arms may be tired and we are beat up. But to think we aren't advancing because we are a tired team I think is a ridiculous argument. If we are tired every team is tired.
-
This "rest" issue is beyond belief. We act like playing baseball is running a marathon every day. Beat up? Yes the team is injured. But rest?? Our guys play station to station baseball. Maybe our pitchers arms need rest. I wish some of yu former pitchers would educate us on what pitchers do in the offseason. Will they truly rest the arm?? Or do they throw? This rest issue puzzles me. I agree our team is HURT, banged up. But tired? Playing baseball???? This aint running marathons.

How could a strong prospect like BA be this bad? Was he rushed? Watching him at bat is like watching a bad pitcher hit. He just looks awkward. If we get swept by the Mariners I wouldn't be up for firing Oz but docking his pay for a month would be OK by me. I think all the players' world series rings should be stored away a month as a penalty. You have got to be s***ting me. The M's sweep us at home?? How did we get to be THIS BAD?????? I predicted 4-9 in our last 13. I may have been generous.
-
WTF exactly. How many times have we said this the last month? We are not worthy, like fathom said. We're just not a good enough team. We're not better than Seattle right now. We're not. In fact, we might get swept. It really really is sad.
-
Garland is a stud in a season that was a dud. Same goes for Dye.
-
No standing O. Just silence as in traipsing up the steps silent after another loss. A standing O would be ridiculous. Last year is so long gone it's unreal.
-
Reasons we suck: Pods, Uribe, BA, all our middle relief, all our starters cept Jon. As well as two of our super subs in Mack and Alomar. And yes Oz deserves blame as well as Cora. Wow ... are we in line for a major rebuilding job suddenly?? I'd hate to be KW. Suddenly looks like he's gotta lot of work to do.
-
Brian Anderson is so bad it is beyond description.
-
fathom you know very well by now you and I disagree on the importance of the coaches/managers. I blame the players. Blow up the actual pitchign staff; not the coach. No offense to the BA lovers, but is he a worse prospect now than Jeremy Reed/ Borchard? BA has 32 RBIs this season; good job, Brian. And an ofer again tonight for BA.
-
Blow up this team's pitching staff. It is horrible. At least the Sox's implosion will make it easier to take the retooling of the team this offseason. Nobody is safe anymore.

I still want to see a logical rundown of which players "quit" and have no "heart" The only "evidence" I could see would be that game where Iguchi played like an imbecile, not running on the smash to right that should have been a triple and not scoring on a hit. And maybe Pods and his beautiful wife the way he "appears" to have lapses like putting down horrendous bunt efforts. Does "quit" mean have s***ty at bats? Just give up an at bat? I don't think many players ever try to make outs? Tell me, who quit and answer my other question ... do all teams that don't make the playoffs and/or finish 15 out have no "heart?" We had a lot of pulsating wins thisyear that show heart, only to come back the next day and get smoked because of bad pitching or middle relief. I agree we have been pathetic. I tend to believe it's like Konerko said in the paper, that the team is like it always it, it just doesn't work sometimes. After hearing this about Rowand, KW deserves what he got. If one player is so well liked and such a gamer, you don't trade that player. You make the deal happen with somebody else.
-
Somebody on here made the best point. The most disappointing thing about this collapse is we did wait all year for Detroit to fade and when they did we played some of the worst ball imaginable. After we swept Detroit in that series in chicago in August, who would have thought we'd limp home like this. I didn't at the time. Never has a team wasted such numbers in the middle of the order. Look at thome, crede, paulie, dye numbers. My gawd. How could we not at least make playoffs? Easy. Anderson, Uribe, Mack, Pods were as bad as those four were good not to mention our unreliable pitching, starters and pen.
-
Insane. A whole thread on Garland and not one critical comment. Finally. Everybody it seems agrees he's good. I am thinking we are going to be sorely disappointed in Brandon next year. Hope not.
-
You know what, I trust the Trib's Gonzalez more than Orel f***ing Hershiser. Give me a break on Orel Hershiser. Stupid f***. Gonzalez said in a Q and A the Sox didn't quit. I mean believe they quit if you want but I wouldn't trust some hoser like Orel Hershiser. I'm sure he got the scoop about all the Sox talking about offseason plans, etc. He's a dumbass.
-
What the hell does this mean? Please be specific. Who quit? Did Pods quit or does he simply suck right now. Did Uribe quit or did he overachieve much of last year. Did Dye and Thome quit? Did Paulie quit? Did AJ? DId the bullpen quit? No the bullpen sucked. Did the starters quit? No the starters during a long stretch sucked. Did Iguchi quit or just fall in love with the long ball? Did Anderson quit or can he not hit anything but little league pitching? Who the f*** quit? Cora was braindead, but who quit????
-
Why are we all talking about how the Sox need rest when half the season we b****ed about Oz playing the Sunday lineup all the time??? The "tired" team thing is a sad excuse. Our starting pitching was a joke much of the season and our approach at the plate was bad ... home runs galore notwithstanding. We need to play Ozzieball even though we have never played Ozzieball since he's gotten here.
