Oh great, a hit and run.
-
I love home runs, but we've got to change our approach next year.
-
How predictable is this? First inning we blew our opportunity. I love Dye, but bad at bat. I love Thome but bad at bat, whacking it too foul. We are a suckass team. Hope the magic returns next year.

Prime reasons why the 2006 White Sox failed to repeat
greg775 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd agree with you VaFan. Plenty of reasons and you hit 'em all. I'd move up the competition however. Detroit pulled away from us at that one point, upping the lead from 2-3 games to 8 or whatever and we've been in our inconsistent funk ever since. -
Trading Crede would be monumentally dumb. You are right, we've learned to take his defense for granted. There's nobody better than Joe. He'll be a Met or Yankee in a few years if he keeps Boras tho.
-
You won't be optimistic after we lose again today. We won't take 2 of 3 from the Tigers. We're done ... unfortunately.
-
Anybody who would boo Jermaine Dye or Joe Crede or Paulie or Bobby Jenks deserves to have a beer dumped on his/her head.

Great post by southsider. Wow. Great stuff. Calling the players quitters is pretty weak. How do we know anybody quit? To boo a team that has won this many games would really be weak. There were a lot of great moments this season. Obviously we underachieved but I think most should agree we would have been fine had Detroit simply not played out of its ass for 2 months or whatever it was. We stayed close for the longest time, then we had a bad week and they continued to win 7 of 8 or something and we were toast. This though from Southsider was the quote of the year IMO: " In reality, if a game is pissing you off that badly, you need to turn it off and find a new hobby. Watching baseball is supposed to be fun, not an exercize in self-torture. Step away and get some perspective on life." How can anybody argue with that???

"You Don't Go Brekin' My Heart." "Achey Breakey Heart" Any country song dealing with having one's heart ripped out by the underachievers.
-
Those are good suggestions. It's a must to deal Pods and Uribe. I'd rather ditch Vas than Fred, but one will go. Cora deserves to not return as 3b coach; he cost us big time. Walker can stay; hitters don't listen to hitting coaches We also need new middle relief. Our middle relief is without one real stud. We also need to dump Alomar and get a real backup catcher.
-
I'd rather trade prospects like the Yankees since we are in a new era of trying to win it all every year. It sure is nice having a stick at third as well as a great fielder. He's so good it's scary.
-
Keep Mark. Pray he stops giving up monster home run balls early in games.

I definitely see no need for a standing ovation. Like Tony and the others who go to a lot of games said, it's fan appreciation day and those guys/gals spent tons of money on the Sox this year. It's their day more than the underachievers. f*** the standing ovation. The team doesn't deserve one. I agree wtih fathom that Dye should get one. why not? The guy had a tremendous year. I think he should get a loud one when he comes to bat the final time. We wasted his mammoth year. Other than him ... only other possible standing Os to go Bobby, AJ, Paulie, Crede. Polite applause to everybody else. I wouldn't boo anybody out of respect for last year, but no group hug standing O to end the game. It sucks baseball is about over. Hope the winter goes by quickly.
-
Albert Belle quit as well.
-
Can't argue with a humble statement like that. We'll be pullin for ya BMac but you certainly did stink this season.
-
Tonight again shows how good we are ... on a given night. We can't string it together tho, as we will show again in coming days. We is toast.
-
I can't imagine anybody flat out quit. I mean what does "quit" mean? They still take b.p., infield, try to get hits, pitch and win.
-
If Brian Anderson got 500 at bats he's probably be hitting under .200. He wasn't ready for prime time at the plate; may never be. Now if they have a designated fielder ... he can play on any team, any day.
-
How can anybody argue with this? Anderson truly truly had many horses*** at bats this season. Yes he was a good fielder. So what. At some point if you want to be a big leaguer you have to have somewhat of a clue at the plate. Anderson had a bad season at the plate; great season in the field and we had nobody on the roster capable of subbing for him. Mack was a disgrace and there was NOBODY else.
-
I like your enthusiasm but with all due respect you are nuts.
-
Finally a post about Brandon I can agree with. Tony comes through. I can buy this; I can't buy the fanatics who think Brandon is a phenom who was "misused" by Ozzie and that's the only reason he sucked.

DOOOOON'T STOP... BEEEEEELIEEEEEVING!!!
greg775 replied to JERMAINEDYE4MVP's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox are as done as a steak cooked by a 12 year on dad's grill. We should all make our own proclamations If the Sox make the playoffs I will .... -- donate 1,000 bucks to my favorite charity. I would say 1,000,000 bucks but I ain't got that much saved. Not gonna happen as we all sadly realize. -
I agree with critic. I wish we were in, but I think we're done. One frustrating thing: If we won our next 7 games we'd be in the playoffs. We would pass Detroit. One fricking week of games. 7-0 and we'd be in. But the team is totally incapable of that 7-0.
-
Welcome to the world of the high paid ballplayer. The Sox are not exempt to this attitude apparently. Why do you think so few teams repeat. At least Boston made it back to the playoffs after their title.
-
True Milkman. But in my mind there is no perfect ballplayer. At some point you have to tip your cap to those who have had incredible seasons and overlook imperfections. I can't see how anybody could criticize Jermaine Dye unless you are looking for perfection. No he is not perfect. is that what the Dye naysayers are trying to say? OK I admit. Dye is not perfect. He goes get a solid A for this season however.
