I'm not thrilled with the trade but wasn't Jeremy Reed supposed to be awesome, too. He sucked last year. Ditto Olivo whom I loved as a Sox. Didn't hit for squat. Is this guy supposed to be better than Reed was? Just askin.
-
He's a future 30/30 and possibly 40/40 guy. Yikes. I'd rather have an everyday player than a pitcher in that case.
-
WHarris why are you so down on Garland? The guy was a freaking hero for us in a World Series season. Keep Jon Garland!
-
I hope we keep Jon. He had one great year. I don't think we should make too many changes one year after winning it all. I like the moves so far, though Rowand will be missed.
-
I used to hate Reinsdorf; can't anymore. He brought us the big prize. Ditto KW. It's hard to ever hate anybody involved in the Sox front office again.

Without reading the million posts or starting a new thread .. tell me bout Chris Young. How good is he? Is he a star in the making or just another guy? I like the pickup but I worry bout losing Young.

I once wrote a sports column for a few years and I always thought the most important thing was to have a true point of view. There's no shame in being wrong, but you really lose the reader's respect when you're just a flippy-floppy windsock like people like Mariotti or Downey. Good for you. That means you were true to yourself and not a sellout who changes his opinions just so he's got something to write. Unfortunately in this day and age of the talk shows the flip floppers are the successful guys. Cause they take a radical stand on the issue and inflame and most people don't recognize the flip flopping cause they time their columns perfectly so many forget.

One other thing. In the very first item: Want to know is how the Sox plan to win a World Series. Answer: They won't, as long as Reinsdorf and his people own the team. Please sell it. -- You were wrong Jay. Wrong about 40 times in that article.
-
I read it before but it again points out how easy a job he has. Flip flop his position 50 times during the season and none of his bosses care. He is a great writer, tho. But I can't respect his flip flopping. he has no perspective. He said the Sox were worst team than Cleveland and chokers. We won it all. So xxxx Jay Mariotti. What a dip.

Looks the Tigers are trying to get better with their various moves. I can't believe they don't sign Big Frank to go with Maggs.
-
Losing Marte is addition by subtraction. Im not concerned at all. I wouldn't go that far. You don't agree when he had it going he had amazing stuff? Also he did the job for us in that long Series game. I'm not against the trade though. Looks like we upgraded our utility spot even though Blum hit the shot heard round the world which I forever will applaud him for.
-
I think I could find it in my heart to boo Frank if he wore a Twins or Indians uniform. Easily. Yes...I do believe I could. Good riddance you say? Kind of cruel don't you think? anybody who boos Frank should be escorted from the stadium. He wants to stay with the Sox. Management doesn't want him. So boo him for that? He should not be booed at the Cell. Hope it never happens. I wonder why Detroit doesn't want him to go with Maggs and Leland?
-
It will really suck if he plays for Minn. and is healthy and we have to face him 80 at bats a season. Geez that will suck. Thanks for the memories Frank, including this past season. No question you sparked the club a lot when you were in there!
-
It looks like this will be Jon G's final season with the Champs. I call you on this. This does not mean it will be his final season with the champs. Too much can h appen either way with him. he could win 17-20 again; he could suck. I hope he's a Sox a long time.
-
please dont go to a team in our division unless it's the Royals Frank.
-
Some of you have said this already, but I think our doctors realize he's physically a long shot at best to come back. That said, now that we've won a World Series I wouldn't mind seeing him sign with the Cubs. The Cubs will never win a Series so they are no threat to our title, and it'd be great to see Frank whack a lot of homers in the small Wrigley. My guess though is he's done.

Glad to see the Sox keep Paulie. I doubt he'll put up Paulie-like numbers all five years but so what? He pretty much got what he deserved. Congrats Paulie and Sox!

White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews

bad reply hi. don't care about your strokin. Just Thome's stroke. GO SOX! -
TexSox, I could give a bleep if the Sox make money. Though KW and Oz deserve raises for last season. Who cares about a profit? We are fans. Give us wins.

2) Basically, Thome is replacing Everett. Anderson is (most likely) replacing Rowand. The philosophy isn't really changing. Just think of it as the same type of ball, with a much more productive Carl Everett. Never thought of that. Good point. I did watch Thome bat a lot last year, however, and I hope you are right. He couldn't get any loft on the ball in the many games I'd watch him. Weak grounders and one hoppers and pop ups. -
The Sox doctors must feel Hurt is done. That's all I can figure.

I used to love Thome but he really truly sucked last year when he wasn't hurt. I hope he hasn't hit the brick wall career wise. For a long time I was dying for him to be a Sox. Now what a question mark. Not only his health but are any of you worried he can't hit anymore? I mean he truly was pathetic last season. Also will miss Aaron. Wow what a performer. I do trust Kenny, however, after bringing us a title. This doesn't help our smart ball attack, however, does it? Thome is another plodder like C. Lee was. -
I was amazed at the snub Oz got some in the manager of the year voting until somebody told me the votes were tabulated at the conclusion of the regular season. If the votes were tabulated after the season and Oz wasn't unanimous, the voters should lose their votes. I don't mind all the snubs cause we got what counts.

Thanks for the home run, sir. It was amazing, perhaps the most shocking thing I've ever seen in a game (I did not expect that line drive blast). Do we need to sign Graff now to make up for this? Though I didn't like him much from the time we acquired him til the postseason, he, on paper, is a pretty good utility man.

Seriously, isn't Wrigley pretty much a dump?
