Indians @ Sox - 4/2 Game Thread
This isn't meant to be critical, I just don't have the answer and am curious. Why would they want to start the game at 11 p.m. with tomorrow's weather to be nice? Is it because they know nobody will attend tomorrow's game on such short notice and there would be no walk up gate at all? Is it because they think we will likely win the game? is it because with an off date tomorrow they can play until the 2 a.m. curfew without it bothering anybody? I just wondered what the reason would be to delay a game that long, especially if it poured so hard. I won't mind at all watching it on ESPN at 11 but it seems like a no brainer to call it off.

we had this same weather front in KC yesterday and it rained all night. I wonder how many fans are sticking it out at the Cell. Probably 25,000 max? Likely 10,000?

Hey Dick Allen: I logged onto whitesoxinteractive.com earlier and was listening to harry caray's audio highlight of Dick Allen's long homer to cf bleachers that just missed Harry's net. It was good stuff.

True but Mark B is finished for the night. We'll have to pitch 5 more guys trying to eke out a sloppy win.

Indians @ Sox - 4/2 Game Thread
I wish they'd call the game. It's gonna be sloppy crapfest the rest of the way. We don't need to pitch 7 guys tonight. Only reason I wouldn't mind it continuing is Anderson's double. Good to see him on the board so soon. No need for Buehrle's ERA to be this high. He'd have given up 3 runs in 7 inns if the rains hadn't hit. Call the game.

When the game continues, do you like our chances with McCarthy vs. ?? What are the odds of the Sox winning the game?

is the tarp coming off? i thought ESPN recently said the game would continue.

Buehrle question
But I swear anytime we get Buehrle a lead he comes out right away the next inning or maybe the one after that and gives up runs. It annoys the piss outta me --I doubt this happens "anytime" the Sox get Mark B the lead. If so, he would not be the consistent winner he is. You'd have to give me some stats to convince me this happens all the time. This sucks the game is delayed. If Mark B can't return, I hope McCarthy has good stuff.

Greetings from... Ozzie Guillen
I remember last year somebody posted Oz's email address. Does anybody still have that? If so please post it. Thanx. And Kenny Williams' too if possible. Gracias.

4 "rookies" in the bullpen?
Great post. We definitely have a bullpen that could bite us. IMO Hermy is (was) the key. We need a healthy Hermy. I realize we don't have one. But I think we're one stud body short and it probably is going to bite the Sox in the butt.

White Sox set Opening Day roster
I'm glad his name is Boone Logan instead of Logan Boone. I'm sick of all the Boones in the bigs. GO SOX!

Thome v. Thomas
I'd take Frank throughout his career. As far as now? I guess Thome since I am skeptical Frank will ever play more than 50 games in a season again. He's going to keep reinjuring that foot.
-
Has it hit anybody yet?
Seems like just yesterday we were playing Cleveland in some important September games. I hope we kick Cleveland in the opener.

Thome shows familiar power
I love Oz's quote ribbing Thome, waiting a month and a half for his first homers. Oz is too good to be true with his funny jokes that must keep the team loose.

Soxtalk and YASNY featured in Sports Illustrated
I feel honored to have so many posts on the No. 1 fan site in the country if it is credited with starting such a rumor.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
i just dont see how this trade helps us at all. i cant see this thornton guy producing at all Joe was about ready to retire. We were never going to play him. I hope he does well. His quotes have always made him seem like a decent guy. We were never going to play him for whatever reason and we need bullpen help. If Coop can make this guy throw strikes, maybe he can help. It says he throws hard. With he and Jenks, it could be really special. We're going to need some bodies in the bullpen. p.s. how is Marte doing this spring with his new team??

Injury updates: Contreras, Hermanson, Pods, Thome
Thanks for the update, jordan. Good news on Thome.

The official Soxtalk 2006 predictions thread
I also have a feeling we may lose a lot of those one run games we won last year. How can that continue two years in a row? However, I think our strong starting pitching will remain great and will lead us to the division crown. Hopefully the sox roster is strong enough to win the division. Uribe-emerging star. Scott P - I fear an off year or injjury plagued. Iguchi, good year. Thome- Have a bad feeling. Dye - Another good year. A.J. - Same as last year. Anderson - I have no idea. No feel. Crede - Better year than last year. Becoming a star. Mark B. - The same. An All Star. Contreras - If healthy, even better regular season. Jon - I think he's going to excel again. Don't think he's a fluke. Vazquez - He'll do fine. I sense for some reason McCarthy will be this year's Hermy. Filling in as a closer if Jenks is inconsistent. I can't see Jenks closing all year. Oz will play the hot hand and we'll win the division over a Detroit team that will overtake the Tribe.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
I hope Joe plays well for Seattle. That would be wild if he and Reed are both in the starting of. Hopefully this lefty we got can throw strikes. We could have some smoke in the pen with he and Jenks.

Injury updates: Contreras, Hermanson, Pods, Thome
Haven't followed spring training as closely as I'd like. My question is, how has Thome fared this spring? Has he hit for power? I know he was hurt last year, but he didn't really have any power numbers in his few at bats. Just wondered if he had the power stroke working or if he's been lousy.

MRIs for Pods, Hermanson
Too bad about Hermy. Out outfield could really be different this year without Pods out there and w/out Aaron.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
The DL would not be good. I have a gut feeling (no pun intended) Jenks will not be a stud closer all season.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
How's Hermanson's health? Considering it's a long season, I hope both get a lot of save opportunities. I thought it worked out well last year. When Hermanson ran out of gas or got hurt or whatever it was, Jenks came to the rescue. Hermanson had a ton of saves during the meat of the season. I like Hermy.

Hypothetical question
Carlos Beltran, Coco Crisp or David DeJesus Graffy Olivo as backup catcher ones I never want Piazza Sosa Wakefield

Wow, what an offseason
It did fly by so fast. I hope I can see the World Champs in person at least once this season and not just at Kauffman Stadium. GO SOX
