I am too superstitious to predict right now.

I don't like mathematics this time of year. We just have to play good baseball and pitch well cause it appears our hitting may not be comin' back.

Hopefully we'll pitch well and bang out enough hits. Amazing, isn't it, that Cleveland kicked the living s*** out of the Royals as everybody on Sox talk knew they would after we lost 2 of 3 in KC. That is not a very good sign entering this series, not a good sign at all. GO SOX!

Everett was a vital cog early when we were cruising to wins every night. Remember some pundits thought it was a shame Frank was returning when he did if it would take any at bats from Everett. He's sucked of late. I've never really been a fan of the guy, but if he can help us hold off the assholes then he'll be one of my favorites. Everett needs to kick ass this series somehow. I wish the guys would just stroke the baseball vs. Cleveland's good pitching and not try to jack 'em all out.

We do deserve the mocking we'll get. The players deserve blame as does KW for not making a deal or 2. At the time I agreed with KW to not break up the team at all. My applause to you guys and/or girls on here who wanted us to make a deal before the deadline. How did you know it's what we needed? I thought for sure we had the team that was gonna pull a Cardinals and run away with the division maybe even for years to come.

Great Greg Couch column on Sun Times website. I think he says it all in there. I liked this line: This team is based entirely on starting pitching. Nothing more. And the starting pitchers aren't doing it anymore. Buehrle has lost it. Jon Garland has lost it. Freddy Garcia has lost it so bad that Guillen asked him if he was hurt. I think he's right; he captured how I've been looking at the calendar watching the days pass and our lead drop.

He'll be starting in the playoffs if we trade him to Cleveland. Couldn't resist the joke in these desperate times.

The free fall continues. We are likely not going to make it. Whether we get compared to the 69 Cubs, historians will have to decide if we were not that good a team to begin with. It's all up to our pitching cause we can't hit.

How can anyone not feel good about a 17 game season and being given a 4.5 game head start, and playing your closest competitor 6 times? I love the optimism, but there are many reasons I don't feel good about the 17 game season and 4.5 game lead right now. If tonight is a start of our return to excellence ... great, but there is good reason for concern! GO SOX!

No question our formula is when we get dominant pitching and defense we usually win (first half formula). Though tonight we may have lucked out a bit. Hopefully the luck will start to turn.

This is why it's tough to second guess. what if he brought in Hermy and Hermy imploded? Bobby goes 2 incredible innings and we win. (terrible effort getting one run with bases loaded in 10th; geez; but we do win!)
