Comparing Ross Gload to Paul Konerko is like comparing Kirstie Alley's looks to Tara Reid. Give me a fricking break.
-
I've supported this guy staunchly for 4 years and my support is severely wavering with every day he continues to post a .240something average Hibbard, your third post on the topic was the charm. Your first post was snippy; I'd say this one was reasonable. As a Crede supporter, I love his glove (s*** he made a mistake flicking at that pop up that led to the Manny bomb). It was his first error in an obscene amount of games. I don't think we'd be happy if Randa was our everyday third baseman, either.
-
If Crede makes one error every 45 games, I'm not going to b****. s*** happens, move on, Jesus. Best line of the night. Get a grip some people. We are 11 games up.
-
We got any prospects at ss in the minors? I think I know the answer to that.
-
The record should not let you keep the failures on the team cause soon enough it will catch up to you. Paulie is not a number four hitter on a playoff team. He is too inconsistent and too slow. I swear an injured Frank could beat him in a foot race. How many of Thomas' homers were solos? I bet its a majority. Uribe is downright horrible and is best suited as defensive replacement in the ninth. Ozzie you are talking about replacing way too many key players. We might be able to make a move or 2 at the most, but s***, these current players are the ones who got us this record we have now! You can't revamp the whole team cause we're sucking at US Cellular the past 7 games.

Again, what I was really dissapointed in is that this team doesn't have that championship edge, and on TV you can tell the crowd really sensed it. They seemed out of it, like they knew the Red Sox will win the game. I understand what you are saying from tonight's game but I can't see how you can say that about this team. It has had a championship edge the majority of the time.

Im very disappointed in Konerko, Thomas, Pierzynski, and Uribe. Id like to see all three shipped out and get some quality guys that fits the demeanor of this team. Are you serious? Paulie - Isn't he team captain? He is a main cog. AJ - He's one of the reasons we are excelling! Remember the fiasco we had behind the plate last year? Ben Davis???? Thomas - The guy has bashed 10 or more homers. He's been valuable. Uribe - I'm not crazy about his performance. I wish we'd upgrade, but maybe we can't. If so he's OK. He's part of a team with a hellacious record. My concerns, but not having me jump off bandwagon. Iguchi is in a slump. Hoping he breaks out of it and it isn't something about the league getting used to him. Viz - Don't like him much. Hermy's injury. Crede's injury (back). Iguchi's injury (back, right? I read somewhere his back was sore?) Some inconsistent pitching by 4 and 5. Bottom line: Mark, Jon and Freddy are still studs. We still have good relief if it's healthy. Analysis: Go ahead and trade some prospects if we can upgrade get a 3Bman to spell or push Crede and some pitching help. I'd stick with Uribe; make trades for a starter, another reliever (are they out there) and a 3Bman like Randa. If we make NO moves I still think we can make the Series. It's our year, baby.

This was the one we needed, look at the matchups

I don't think you can assume we are gonna get swept. We've had so many big wins this year ... suck it up and deal with the inevitable losing streaks all teams go through. I do agree with chisox's comments that I've been reading, though. -
Why is Viz on our team? I like Crede but Viz no good.
-
Are you kidding me? He homered?
-
How could he drop a pop up?
-
Joe's penchant for getting big hits makes me like him. Keep it rolling Sox. Win it!
-
Wow, tremendous, and off Schilling. Good job Joe
-
What did Crede do? I'm relying on you guys. At work and can't get mlb.com to work

I'd love to play the Cubs in the Series. I think it'd take the pressure off us because one Chicago team would be guaranteed to win it all for the first time in about 500 years. We'd be relaxed and kick their ass.
-
Duke I think you are overreacting. We may need to make a move of some kind but it's no time to panic. In theory we wouldn't need to panic until it looked like we were down to a five or six game lead in the division or out of the wild card race.
-
That's what I hope for chisoxfan. Thanks for the post. Maybe Graff would have been the guy to acquire.
-
He makes very tough plays look routine all the time. He's an awesome 3rd baseman, period. Glad everybody is recognizing Joe's defense. He's damn good defensively and I'd keep him for that reason. If we must acquire Randa or some insurance, do so, but trade some prospects (I'm not so antsy about trading prospects anymore since the performances of Olivo, Reed, Wells, Fogg on other teams). Keep Joe. His defense will save us some World Series games a la Brooksie Robinson in the 60s.
-
I read somewhere the Sox want to upgrade third base. I hope if they acquire Randa or somebody then don't trade Crede, merely have another guy here to push Joe. I think Crede's a pretty good player. I don't think the organization should take his defense for granted. He's pretty valuable, don't you all agree? I would NOT trade him, not this year, not winning the way we are.
-
I would think there will be cheers and boos but anything can happen. I will predict more boos. I wouldn't boo him, though. He was a great player for us and I could care less if he ripped management. Management looks good this year with Kenny putting together a fine team, but management hasn't exactly been stellar in the past. Maggs was a stud for us and I hope he's cheered just as Carlos Lee should be cheered if he ever plays in the Cell again. But that's just my opinion. I definitely don't think we should bean him. That's between him and Oz. If they want to duke it out at batting practice, fine, but we shouldn't bean Maggs over a beef with Oz.

7/14/05 - White Sox @ Indians Game Thread
greg775 replied to Steve9347's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Great win. 1-0 has to demoralize the Tribe at home. And Marte and Hermy finished up nicely. No choking, just same ol stuff, winning. -
Gload might help us some, but I love Paulie.

What would you do if the Sox won the World Series?
greg775 replied to crash's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would be most elated if the White Sox were able to win. I would not stop talking about it for the rest of my life. That's the best response. I think that's what I'd do, too. I remember when the Bears finally won it that year the feeling of contentment as they blew out the Patriots. I savored every play of the final half as the rest of the country outside of Chicago grimaced. It would be pure contentment, the opposite of the feeling I got the year Baltimore beat us in the playoffs when we should have reached the Series. Lamarr Hoyt would have won the deciding game on Sunday had Britt Burns' masterpiece on Saturday gone to waste in a 10 inning loss on a homer by some Oriole asshole. -
AJ's homer was awesome. That's the top homer. Frank's dinger the other day against the D-Rays was awesome, too. I give credit to Hermanson for his first half also. I think his 20 saves shouldn't be taken for granted. If Hermy would have sucked after Shingo was having problems, we might have dropped a lot more games. It could have been Koch-like. Way to go Dustin.

We need to just pick up where we left off and keep winning series like we did the first half. Anything can happen. I mean who thought St. Louis would get swept in the series last year? Our team is damn good and has spirit, but it ain't dominant. So just keep the chemistry and keep plugging away. We had a helluva first half. a great first half. Congrats to the Sox on a stellar first half.
