I agree with Nuke to not jump on Hermy after one bad outing. It had to happen sooner or later. And I agree with whomever said to ride the hot hand. Hopefully Oz will continue doing that. Hermy has been hot as hell, if he blows the next two of three saves or something like that, then it may be Shingo time again. Surely Shingo has been working on something during his demotion time. Or Marte if he's not hurt.

I said and I'm sure most of you did too, that we were gonna lose after the eighth. I thought he was safe at the plate and for some reason I didn't sense a 1-0 win tonite. s*** happens; hope we can win the rubber game. As far as Dustin, you can't be perfect forever, but I still think before it' sover we need bullpen by committee.
-
We rode Dustin for quite a while. Now it may be time to do the committee thing again for a while. Shingo (gasp) and Marte need to suck it up. I applaud Dustin for pitching perfect ball as long as he did. I agree ... very tough loss. Kudos to Mark B.

I guess even I can learn to forgive and forget. But can KW forgive the fans like us who thought he was horrific? Sorry about the Azod. My bad.
-
Great points Azod. I just thought in terms of balls out hard nosed play. I'm not a Boston lover by any means. Bullets hit to Crede and he has no problem making it look easy, etc. I definitely tip my cap to Kenny W. who I once thought was a buffoon. He certainly makes anybody like me eat my words. He's put together quite a team.

In watching the game on mlb.com I thought the Sox looked like Boston did last year, sharp, hungry. Rowand comes up with that ball on his diving catch, even though the replay shows he took quite an awkward tumble. Unlike Patterson in the Sox-Cubs game, he comes up with the ball somehow. No excuses, just a great catch to save the night. Crede makes some tough stops at third look like routine plays. Garland gets out of the seventh and our bullpen gets it done. We just looked like a gutsy winning team instead of sleepwalkers.

I can see benefits for the Sox in Jon starting. He'd be used to the pressure if we make the playoffs. I also can see the non-benefits. He doesn't have it and throws BP, gives up 4 homers and is another Atlee Hammaker. I say start Mark B! Congrats though to Jon on 10 wins and that base hit.

Great question. I would say I would like to be in the race all year. But a six game lead all year would be nice. I mean a six game lead is nothing in reality. I don't want to lead by 11, 12 games. But let's face it, it probably doesn't matter either way. There's still that danger of our bats being completely silenced in the playoffs like against Baltimore that one postseason. Minnie sure has sucked in the postseason the past several seasons after winning the division comfortably.

whose the most hated sox pitcher?
greg775 replied to robin_ventura_eternal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Koch and Ritchie in a tie as far as my most miserable pitcher. I didn't necessarily hate them though, because remember all their quotes? They always took the blame and said how horsebleep they were. I respected them for that. -
I won't complain since I also can't go. It to me is sad though that people in Chicago don't want to see the good team, our Sox, play and XXXX the Flubs. I mean we had a lot of Sox fans in Wrigley for that series. I'm just surprised more don't come out. You'd think the Sox would do a quick scientific survey using some company to get the true reasons why we don't draw 30,000 a night. I guess it's all in the one word, Cubs, but not to beat a dead horse, but Old Comiskey was pretty full from June 1 til late August near the end of its life when the Sox had a good team. I say do a scientific survey. Hell there could be zillions of people afraid because of the random bullet incident that one year. Yet they'll go to wrigley where bricks are falling.

I think Mark B, Garland, Hermanson should all be on the team. Also Iguchi and maybe A.J. No Paulie. Anybody else?
-
Trade Everett; he's no Big Hurt.
-
I didn't even know there were other sox chat boards. Cut the classless stuff; lets chat Sox!
-
Amazing start. To go in and take 3 straight in the NL park, very nice. Is Oz a magician?
-
For some reason the judy references irritate me. He's a good pitcher. He's also human.
-
I'd say Crede still, but I wouldn't be against adding Randa and sending Crede down for more more more seasoning. It's nice to have the good glove there, but so many of his at bats are hopeless. I wonder what we'd have to give up for Randa.
-
Interesting about Shingo. Wonder if we'll get rid of him.
-
Crede's been a big disappointment, but he is a good fielder. We need to see how our lineup fares with Frank. If it continues to plod after 2-3 weeks, we might need a spark from a trade or some minor league callups. My disappointment's are Dye and Crede and Uribe. We need their bats. Iguchi has been fine and AJ has been fine. Everett has been Everett. Paulie hasn't been great but has at least hit double digit homers. I agree we are pretty anemic, though.
-
Why in the world would we trade those two for a guy hitting .213 with four homers and 17 runs scored and 18 RBI? As badly as some think Crede is ... he is hitting .238 with 4 homers 17 runs scored and 16 RBI? Throwing McCarthy in that trade would be stupid.
-
We're gonna lose some games. I'm surprised we haven't lost more. Garland was due. Crede has been OK on defense this year. He hasn't hit yet.
-
I wish our guys could have hit a few high drives to right field. We had enough fly outs, why not to rf where we also coulda had some windblown homers?

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
greg775 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Tomorrow's column is a big test. If he completely reverses and turns it into an Oz Blast fest for handling our young starter with kid cloves without any positive comments, he's proving again he just goes day to day. I predict the column will pretty much blast Oz for not letting the kid pitch longer, even though the reasoning was very solid. Let him have success in his first game. It Mariotti is smart he'll blame Viz more than Oz. -
Mark B is pure class. The answers to those questions were as if he had time to email the answers to the reporter rather than give the comments off the top of his head. Perfect answers. He wants his boyhood team to win except when playing his current team and he sounds mighty happy to be a Sox.
-
I can think of another positive: maybe Ozzie and KW realize how bad Viz is and send him to the minors. That's be a huge positive. I agree, but I also would have voted to get rid of Dye last week. Seems the Sox patience has in the long run been paying off. I hope Dye has a similar week next week. He has some making up to do but has been great of late.

Carlos Zambrano addicted to the Internet?!?

Has this made the papers yet? It's a story I'd want to read. That's crazy stuff. If he went nine yesterday we mighta lost two of three in this series.
