  1. I'm in, of course. But today is the first day I've mentally realized that we could blow the lead. We play teams in our own division so many times, that it's possible yes we could blow this lead. However I most certainly am IN. I'm just amazed our division title and playoff spot now appears to be uncertain.
  2. I'm old enough to remember Harry. He was great, absolutely great. In fact, one of his sidekicks got fired after one season. I can't remember the guy's name, but he was not an ex jock. It was back when they had 2 real trained announcer types. There was a rain delay in a doubleheader and I was listening and I heard the most incredible half hour "conversation" between Harry and the sidekick to kill the rain delay. The team sucked that year and they were so critical the sidekick was replaced after the season. They couldn't replace Harry. Harry ripped the team for firing his sidekick. I know it's because of that rain delay conversation when they for 30 minutes blasted everybody on the team, front office, etc. I was amazed. Harry was incredible.
  3. The Sox need to suck it up and regroup, and I think they will. Me too. We ain't gonna blow the 15 game lead. If we do, well our franchise is history.
  4. in fact i bet we get swept by the yankees and go into the baggy dome with our tales between our legs. many cub fans are mocking me saying we are the repeat of the '69 Cubs. And sadly im starting to be scared that something like that can happen. cmon, show some stones. have faith. don't tell me we sox fans are becoming wimps and giving up.
  5. Point well taken, daa; it is frustrating.
  6. Your standards seem a little low to me. Monster year for Iguchi? He's been very solid, but monster year? No. I meant at the time, fathom. When Oz made the MVP comment and Iggy was hitting the deep ball as well as hitting what 290 or so at the time?
  7. Everyone knew we needed offensive help. We lost one of our most dangerous hitters in Frank Thomas, and didn't do a single f***ing thing to replace his production. Putting Everett in the starting lineup severely depleted our bench, and Everett should not be anywhere close to the number 3 spot in the order. --Fathom I don't know about that. Everett and Dye were considered to be having pretty good years; AJ having a big year. Also Crede was starting to hit and Iguchi having monster year. Is Anderson the answer?
  8. daa don't judge the bug bite thing. WE here have no idea of how bad that was. Trust the medical staff a bit, dude. Cmon; get a grip. You can't assume dye was a puss cause he didn't play with those bites.
  9. He had months to get a Bat. But he listened to Ozzie and the chemistry line. Well we are beyond the waiver deadline and we got no help. Now he might get shutout because of this. I still keep going back to Soxfest when KW talked about saving money on Fas in the offseason was like putting money in the bank for the stretch run in June/July. It would give us flexibility. Geoff Blumm is not what I had in mind when he said that comment. --good point southside, but you gotta admit at 36 games over .500 it didn't look like we needed too much. If Everett, Dye, Crede, Iggy, AJ, Paulie, et. all keep hitting like this we might blow the big division lead, but I still say we'll get back on track. I just wish Hermy would have not given up the ninth inn. homer; that woulda been nice to win since it's gonna be tough to snap our funk vs. New York.
  10. Losing home game after home game is not good. As long as we make the playoffs we have a chance. We gotta ride this out. What else can we do?
  11. I'm not panicking. I'm actually glad we will have suffered a losing streak this season. We've gotta face some adversity. We do have some weaknesses but if we don't have dead arms and can be healthy we have as good a chance as anybody. That's big ifs, though. We may be pretty banged up.
  12. I still say we can win it with pitching and defense. 1959 revisited, baby.
  13. I just want us to play good ball. We must play good ball or we are screwed in the postseason. I know ... how simplistic and dumb. I only care about our team. I want us to stay sharp, play good baseball. We're only going to go as far as our pitching and D takes us. Our lineup is spotty folks.
  14. We're 30 games over .500 and Paullie as usual is a big reason. I like Paulie and congratulate him on a great career and year (as if he reads this).
  15. I agree with kollapse. We don't know what goes on in the locker room and if the players and Oz think Paulie is the captain he's the captain. Paulie can't help it if he's slow. He's still a damn good player. Maggs would look good in our lineup about now.
  16. This "who cares" attitude needs to stop. Our postseason position is not guaranteed. Before you know it, we'll be saying "oh well" when our lead is trimmed to 8 games. Then 5 games. We need improvements on this club immediately. This offense is terrible. Can't score in 9 innings off Minnesotas bullpen how do you expect to fare off Anaheim's? Or Oaklands? -- What can we do Tizzle? We're in a skid. But I ain't jumping ship. GO SOX!
  17. sorry for da double post
  18. Oh well. We're still 11 games up and our first 4 game losing streak comes in mid August. Good perspective. We're also banged up a bit. I just don't like losing streaks including our home field. If we're gonna drop 8 in a row, do it on da road.
  19. Oh well. We're still 11 games up and our first 4 game losing streak comes in mid August. Good perspective. We're also banged up a bit. I just don't like losing streaks including our home field. If we're gonna drop 8 in a row, do it on da road.
  20. You tell em Hawk. Mariotti does enough ripping on his own. Who cares if it was't fair? Mariotti hasn't been fair at times in the past.
  21. Adkins does blow. We is in a little bit of a slump. Yikes.
  22. I don't. I was obviously wrong. We have no one who can shut them down. Our pitching is overrated. Probably because of the poor offenses we faced in our own division. It's obvious our pitching isn't as good as advertised. All I know is that come playoff time, I wouldn't bet on a White Sox advancement. --Why the pessimism? We still have the best record in baseball. We had enough trouble against the poor offenses in our division the past few years when we COULDNT WIN OUR DIVISION. I wouldn't bet much on a White Sox advancement in the playoffs either because anything can happen. I do think we can reach the Series, however. I really do.
  23. I'd take Mark B over Santana every day of the week times two.
  24. Isn't our pitching atop all of baseball? We've got very good pitching. Our lineup has been good enough though it should not strike fear in the hearts of anybody. We're a good team. We're not lucky. WE're good.
  25. No I'll be discussing how Jon Garland has become the real ace of this team Good for Jon. I'm happy for Jon if he is indeed our ace. But so what? Mark B has been a stud for this team and had a bad night in a hitters ballpark. Big frickin deal. In the big picture of things he's been awesome this year!
