Who would you rather have ?
I'd say Crede still, but I wouldn't be against adding Randa and sending Crede down for more more more seasoning. It's nice to have the good glove there, but so many of his at bats are hopeless. I wonder what we'd have to give up for Randa.

Quick Notes from Texas
Interesting about Shingo. Wonder if we'll get rid of him.

Let's face it
Crede's been a big disappointment, but he is a good fielder. We need to see how our lineup fares with Frank. If it continues to plod after 2-3 weeks, we might need a spark from a trade or some minor league callups. My disappointment's are Dye and Crede and Uribe. We need their bats. Iguchi has been fine and AJ has been fine. Everett has been Everett. Paulie hasn't been great but has at least hit double digit homers. I agree we are pretty anemic, though.

Trade Revisited
Why in the world would we trade those two for a guy hitting .213 with four homers and 17 runs scored and 18 RBI? As badly as some think Crede is ... he is hitting .238 with 4 homers 17 runs scored and 16 RBI? Throwing McCarthy in that trade would be stupid.

We Lost....
We're gonna lose some games. I'm surprised we haven't lost more. Garland was due. Crede has been OK on defense this year. He hasn't hit yet.

Viz is a bum
I wish our guys could have hit a few high drives to right field. We had enough fly outs, why not to rf where we also coulda had some windblown homers?

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
Tomorrow's column is a big test. If he completely reverses and turns it into an Oz Blast fest for handling our young starter with kid cloves without any positive comments, he's proving again he just goes day to day. I predict the column will pretty much blast Oz for not letting the kid pitch longer, even though the reasoning was very solid. Let him have success in his first game. It Mariotti is smart he'll blame Viz more than Oz.

MB interview in a STL newspaper
Mark B is pure class. The answers to those questions were as if he had time to email the answers to the reporter rather than give the comments off the top of his head. Perfect answers. He wants his boyhood team to win except when playing his current team and he sounds mighty happy to be a Sox.

come on guys
I can think of another positive: maybe Ozzie and KW realize how bad Viz is and send him to the minors. That's be a huge positive. I agree, but I also would have voted to get rid of Dye last week. Seems the Sox patience has in the long run been paying off. I hope Dye has a similar week next week. He has some making up to do but has been great of late.

Carlos Zambrano addicted to the Internet?!?
Has this made the papers yet? It's a story I'd want to read. That's crazy stuff. If he went nine yesterday we mighta lost two of three in this series.

This is ridiculously premature...
Hes young, doesnt get hurt at all. --Knock on wood when you say that. Just kidding. I don't see how any pitcher will reach 300 again. Seems impossible to keep a stud healthy nowadays. The Braves lost another pitcher to DL today. I just can't see anybody staying healthy in baseball to accomplish the big feats anymore. Wasn't Maggs basically injury free and now he looks like a wreck all of a sudden. I could see Buehrle doing it except for the injury factor someday cropping up.

GIVE IT UP FOR BMAC!!!!!
I give it up for him, like the thread asks. Tremendous outing. I think Oz wanted to make sure he had a positive experience and took him out rather than risking what actually happened to Viz. Anybody think Viz is in danger of losing his job? Do you think he brings much to the table?
-
Holy Shit
I think Buehrle is top tier. There aren't many guys I'd pick over him, considering age and results. He's pretty damn good.
-
Lets go frank
I hope it's not a full 20 game rehab if his ankle feels fine after a week. Why 20 games??

Favorite Sox Ever? MarkB?
Considering the fact the White Sox haven't exactly had the most stellar history of all teams, out there, with dozens of Hall of Famers, I was wondering if Mark Buehrle has become your favorite Sox player of all time. He gets the ball and pitches it w/out bleeping around. He has a good personality with the media and fans. He has never been a brat with his contract. Mark B is creeping into my top five Sox of all time.

Mike Sweeney
I'd pass on Sweeney because of his back woes. I think it's time to give up on Dye, however. Bring up Anderson and let Dye go. Paulie just needs to suck it up and start hitting. The team is probably just patiently waiting for frank to return to have murderer's row of Everett, Dye, Frank and Pauilie. p.s. Interesting that Jeremy Reed hasn't done much this year. He gets hits and scores runs once in a while but nothing remarkable yet. And Olivo has been horrible.

When the hell do we start worrying about Konerko??
Hitting under .200 is depressing. He's got to do better than that. How the heck is our record what it is?? Guess it's the pitching. Hope Fred, Duke, and Cont just had one bad outing and got 'em outta their system. We need Buehrle, Garland and Freddie to excel all season long if we hope to win the division.

Starting pitching coming back to earth?
It's a matter of time till Judy makes her appearance and it's going to happen sooner or later. That's a cheap shot on Garland in my opinion. The guy has been a total stud. I can't believe with so many guys sucking in this mini losing streak, you'd take a rip on Jon. Calling him Judy is bulls***.

Mariotti challenges us
Old Comiskey would have been sold out for all 4 O's games. But that's living in the past. It's true, though. Any old timers who went to games there would back me on this: In mid May, old Comiksey woulda been sold out all 4 games for the first place Sammy-less O's. And crowds would be up from now on out, until the moment we start to suck, not that we are going to start to suck.

I Just Want to Take It ALL in
Good story tlak. Hopefully the Sox can get it done this year as they did in 59.

My Favorite Image from Last Night
WGN showed a close up after the K, Garland let out a brief smile. Great reaction, then he walked off the field. I hope nobody turns on him if and when he has some s*** outings. It will be weird to see him in the All Star game if he keeps this up a few more weeks.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great closeup of Garland after that K to end the eighth. He knew he made such a great pitch. Congrats to all Sox officials past and present who were so patient regarding Jon. He's getting it and he is awesome right now.

RF options
I like your logic, Jim. I like your patience. I try to be patient myself, but I'm starting to lose it regarding Dye. I guess all we can do is ride it out with Dye. But he is really really doing nothing. He's reminding me of Pena of the Tigers, 0-4s galore.

What to do with Shingo
Keep using Shingo. The closer by committee thing has been OK. I personally wouldn't be opposed if Oz gave up on Dye. He really has been pretty piss poor. I'm not as down on Rowand or Paulie for some reason. But Dye has really been a disappointment. Is anybody out there high on Dye? I don't see how you could be. At least Jeremy Reed isn't doing much for Seattle. Maybe he wasn't the answer either.

Chris Singleton???
I see one jinx hasn't changed, former Sox beating us. Chris Singleton??? That guy is still around? Amazing. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — When Hideo Nomo limped off the mound, Lance Carter began peeling off his warmup jacket. The most-rested reliever in Tampa Bay’s overworked bullpen pitched three scoreless innings and Chris Singleton had two hits and drove in two runs Monday night to help the Devil Rays beat Chicago 4-2, stopping the White Sox’s eight-game winning streak. “I had a good feeling that it was going to be me,” Carter said, adding that entering a game cold following an injury is not the easiest thing to do. “There’s the crowd. Guys on deck are watching you warm up and everyone wants to get going.” Carter (1-0) allowed two sixth-inning hits before retiring the last nine batters he faced in relief of Nomo, who left because of cramps in his left hamstring. Danys Baez worked the ninth for his third save in four opportunities. “It was good to come in and get the win. I was just trying to execute my pitches. Nomo was throwing well,” Carter said, adding he didn’t feel his pitching was the key to Tampa Bay being able to overcome a 2-1 deficit. “How am I the star?” he asked, pointing out that Singleton and others made important contributions. “It was an entire team effort.” Singleton had two run-scoring singles off Freddy Garcia (3-2), the second snapping a 2-2 tie in the sixth. Damon Hollins added an RBI double in the sixth, and the Devil Rays scored again for a two-run lead when Aubrey Huff grounded out with the bases loaded in the seventh. Garcia allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings. He walked three and struck out five. “I think they’re underrated. They have a better team than people think,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said of the last-place Devil Rays. “They have good-looking young players over there.” Tampa Bay snapped a three-game losing streak, winning for just the fourth time in its last 15 games. The White Sox, who are a major league-best 24-8, scored twice in the first inning on Tadahito Iguchi’s RBI double and Paul Konerko’s sacrifice fly off Nomo, who gave up two runs and five hits in five innings. Guillen and some of his players said the White Sox were flat after flying to Florida from Toronto on Sunday. “You’re going to have days like that,” Konerko said. “This team comes to play every day. Some days aren’t as good as others as far as the energy. ... Maybe we just got a little complacent. We’ve done that a couple of games where we got some runs early and shut it down.” Carter replaced Nomo after the Devil Rays starter stopped abruptly as he was set to go into his windup for a 1-0 pitch to Konerko. The 36-year-old clutched the back of his thigh, and limped off after being examined by a trainer. Devil Rays manager Lou Piniella said Nomo was fine and is expected to make his next scheduled start on Saturday. “He just had a real bad cramp in his leg and couldn’t get it out. He’s fine,” Piniella said. The Devil Rays wasted several opportunities, going 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position through the first four innings. Nomo kept them in the game by escaping a bases-loaded jam in the third. Tampa Bay broke through against Garcia in the fourth with singles by Carl Crawford, Huff and Singleton producing a run to trim Chicago’s lead to 2-1. Hollins tied it with his RBI double, and Singleton followed with his second hit of the night to put Tampa Bay ahead 3-2. For the second straight time, Nomo exited early from a game he could have won. The Devil Rays staked him to an 8-1 lead against the New York Yankees last Wednesday, however the right-hander failed to get through the fifth inning. Tampa Bay wound up winning 11-8. “It’s frustrating,” Nomo said through an interpreter. “I’m just glad the team was able to win.” Notes: Iguchi has nine RBIs over his last 10 games. ... The White Sox have held a lead in all 32 of their games, extending their major league record. ... Through 33 games, the Devil Rays don’t have a home run from the cleanup spot in their batting order. ... Tampa Bay’s Toby Hall has a 10-game hitting streak that matches his career high.
