  1. Exactly Civic. If we don't rally and win today's game (it's 6-2 in the 8th as I write this) somebody in Sunday's papers will probably blast our team as not having enough starting pitching with Contreras and Duque not reliable enough. Anything can happen. We have a very good team and exciting team, so far playing as a team. I'll leave it at that personally while staying confident we have a chance to go far.
  2. I've always liked, more than disliked, him because of his defense. It's nice having a vacuum at third after so many years of shoddy White Sox defense throughout history.
  3. Maybe patience with Crede will pay off as it did with Jon. If Joe is going to emerge as a star, it might as well be with us. Erstad for Garland would have been a disaster the way it's turning out.
  4. Great win today obviously. Congrats Freddie, et all. Our victory followed a bandwagon column by the guy in the Sun Times. He wrote: "It should be clear by now that Guillen's feistiness has a magical effect on the Sox while only magnifying the woe-is-me slumber of Baker." A lot of us were saying weeks ago when Mariotti was telling him to stifle, that Ozzie's personality might be why we are actually winning just about every series and are on an amazing winning pace. Now he writes this?? I say: "Quit changing your mind, Jay! You are a gifted writer but quit bandwagonizing. You can't say Ozzie needs to shut his fricking mouth for a couple weeks then COMPLETELY change your position!" p.s. Keep Joe Crede, Kenny. He is a stud.
  5. Most annoying plays: I saw Amos Otis hit a home run into that deep rcf nook of old Comiskey. It's quite a shot. And I saw George Brett hit a cannon off the upper deck facade in rf.
  6. Kittle hit a roofshot when I was there. So did Luzinski. It's awesome to see the height of a roofshot and no more ball.
  7. I thought Miguel Olivo and Jeremy Reed were going to kick butt this year and be budding if not immediate stars. I see Miguel got sent down recently hitting about a buck ninety and Jeremy has a fairly decent batting average at .271 but doesn't steal bases doesn't hit the deep ball and doesn't have a lot of ribbies. Kenny W. seems to know what he's doing. I must eat crow and say he's doing a fine job. Are any of you equally surprised Miguel and Reed are sucking?
  8. I'd love to get to the yard on vacation this year. I'd go to 20 or more a year when I lived in Chicago but that was right before new comiskey (Cell) was built. I loved the old place. It rocked, literally shook, when there was 30,000 or more in there.
  9. I think Oz is great because of the intangibles. The players seem to like him and he's damn likeable. He may make some bad decisions, but what managers don't? I say we're 30 games over .500 partly because of the attitude he brings. Isn't that a big part of managing? The big picture? You can see Mark B. loves Oz when he comes out to the mound, etc.
  10. I wouldn't mind him if we just ship them 2 bad prospects. He can split duty with Crede and/or push Crede to get his act together more consistently at the plate. I don't want Randa to be our everyday third baseman in the playoffs and/or series. Do you folks?
  11. I thought Rocket returned to baseball merely with the stipulation he pitch in his hometown. He was done and ready to retire, but for that money and getting to pitch at home and be with his family, it was worth it to him to go on. Why do the national pundits think that's changed? Won't he just retire if he gets dealt?
  12. We got a great team and crowds have been good of late. We should be drawing a minimum of 30,000 a game from now on in, but that ain't gonna happen. I have a question for those who have been going to games loyally the past 5 or so years. With the renovations of the past couple summers ... is the park much more attractive than it was before the renovations? Just curious. I haven't been to a game since the renovations and was just wondering. Has the rooftop, etc. made it much better? Just asking.
  13. I wouldn't underestimate Joe's glove. It's pretty comforting to have him at the hot corner. I wouldn't trade him for Randa. Joe frustrates me as much as anybody with his inability to break through as a hitter, but he's prett damn good on d.

It would have been nice if he stepped right in and dominated but like everybody says, he's probably not ready. Since we won the game anyway against the s*** Royals, I'd give him one more start. It's not like he cost us a game.
  15. Eating crow is fine. It's cool you are on board cheering for him in person. I just hated after that one loss he had somebody called him Judy again. The guy is allowed to have some bad outings. I like the way he says he's been watching Buehrle and working faster this year. Nice.
  16. I hope Mark gets the call. Jon would probably do fine, but I would rather see Mark B take the hill as a reward for his year in and out excellence. Plus as a worrier, I feel there's the slim chance Jon could pull an Atlee and not have it, throw meat and have it kill his confidence. I'd love to see Mark start, Halladay to follow, Jon also pitch and Hermy eventually close it out with some other AL studs also working a few innings.

Good post, Jim. I didn't want him back, either. I was wrong and that at bat Sat night was awesome.
  18. Queen it was in the postgame show because they had 15 minutes to kill so we got to see Oz interview. It was funny.
  19. The players bailed out the manager in this one. Good for them. Maybe part of the reason they bailed him out is they like and respect the manager instead of some of the dips*** skippers we've had in the past. You can second guess any manager after a loss unless it's one of those rare 15-1 blowout type losses.
  20. Gotta love Oz, says AJ is crybaby; says he wants to kill Garcia in early innings. Likeable Oz pushing the right buttons! p.s. Politte is 4-0.
  21. 3-1 loss thanks to Ozzie's moronic managing. You ever think that Ozzie brings more to the table than mere specific decisions? The guy is a joy and the players like playing for him. What a great ninth inning. Iguchi, Everett, Rowand, AJ, sweet!
  22. Somebody would trade Mark for CC Sabathia? Are you crazy? I would trade him for NOBODY. Today's game may have been one of the best pitched games I've ever seen and I date back to Gary Peters. Fricking amazing. Congratulations, Mark B, you are one of the best pitchers in White Sox history. Right now! Already! Great job. You are a fricking stud. GO SOX!
  23. I wouldn't blame Oz. Maybe it's Oz's personality, etc. that has us with the best record in ball. Did you see Mark B when he got pulled? He laughed and kidded with Oz. The players obviously love him. He is the guy who made Hermy the closer for the 15 saves he's gotten. A couple screwups are inevitable. He's handled this team great so far. It's not like we have a powerhouse here. WE have a nice team.

I agree with Nuke to not jump on Hermy after one bad outing. It had to happen sooner or later. And I agree with whomever said to ride the hot hand. Hopefully Oz will continue doing that. Hermy has been hot as hell, if he blows the next two of three saves or something like that, then it may be Shingo time again. Surely Shingo has been working on something during his demotion time. Or Marte if he's not hurt.
