White Sox Winner: feel better Bassit!
Stuff happens. Not saying you, but modern stat lovers go by the whole, not a few specific at bats. Jose should please the advanced stat lovers and traditional stat lovers cause he has good stats every, single year. Those who want him to be perfect (not saying you) really need to get a grip. Nobody is perfect. Jose is a HR, RBI machine. He turned into a good defensive first baseman. Depending on whether he's hot or not could determine how he (and all players) fares in the postseason. Jose is an elite talent whether haters believe that or not. His full body of work screams, "Put me in the White Sox Hall of Fame." forgive me if this offends anybody but I love Jose A.

Great win. My fave, Jose with 25th homer. Stud.

Who is the most unlikely hero of the 2021 White Sox?
If Yermin doesn't return at some point to MLB and make it, what a wild story it will be. A month and a half of being a total hero. Talk about 15 minutes of fame and success, wow. I mean for him it wasn't just one good game it was many. He was epic.

08/16 Game Thread: Oakland Athletics at Sox 7:10 ESPN/CSN
The eye test tells me Hendriks is the closer. Tony is doing this the right way. The three pitchers are being used in the right order to close games.

Soxtalk posters definitely overreacted about Hendriks after the recent blown saves. He was electric tonight.

Hitting with RISP
Everybody in MLB is trying to hit a home run every at bat so it's difficult to be effective hitters with RISP. The odds of hitting a home run in at bat are miniscule, same for RISP because of the desire to homer.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch
I'm no fair weather fan. I've been a Sox fan forever. I'm not as optimistic as El Rockin nor as pessimistic as some of the others.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch
I just don't like seeing criticism of Jose. I feel he's earned a lifetime achievement award from Sox fans so to speak. At some point, it's dumb to question anything regarding a proven RBI man like Abreu. I just think some guys have earned the right to not be judged at bat to at bat. That's just me. I was that way with Konerko too.

Irresponsible of the TV crew to not keep the camera on Hendriks when he came out. He was pissed, presumably at himself and not Tony for yanking him and subjecting him to a few boo birds. Was anybody at the game? I heard a few boos on the telecast.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch
I like him, I just think he's not going to make it with the Sox. He's under .200 now as well. I don't think he was gonna be hero tonight. Maybe his time will come.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch
This in retrospect was one, dumb post. I think I picked a good favorite player about 3 seasons ago in Mr. RBI, Jose Abreu.

8/14 Sox vs Yankees - 6:10 CT first pitch
He's been very bad of late. Must be humbling to be so rotten during this stretch. He's firing it in there and getting clobbered.

Collins is not doing well right now. He'd not have gotten a hit.

Who is the most unlikely hero of the 2021 White Sox?
I'd say it's Vaughn. Just cause I like him. I think Rodon is the overall hero though. Team MVP: Tim Anderson. Unsung hero: Vaughn. Best pitcher: Rodon. Most potential: Eloy. Biggest surprise: LaRussa being so good he's made a mockery out of his haters.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
America would be a better place if all kids had a job picking on a farm for a series of 18 hour work days at least one picking season of their lives. With no cell phones and no protective mommies and daddies. And in their free time play some unsupervised baseball and take a nap after that. Good old fashioned work.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
How much were tickets? Over $1,000 per ticket or ?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I love Liam but he's blown what, six saves. I remember when Sox acquired him how everybody rejoiced. Remember when David Robertson used to blow a few saves? Did he ever blow six? Liam has such good stuff he closed the all star game. I still like him and his fastball but cmon, when are people going to realize most pitchers are NOT worth the money they are paid. Hell, wasn't Colome statistically a better Sox closer than Liam? And I do like Liam.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Unbelievable world we live in. Tied to our phones. No offense to this guy but cmon. The game was on the line. Anybody with a brain knows Timmie just might go deep. This guy is looking at his phone, probably Tic Toc. I don't think our world is saveable. I really don't.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Then it's gonna be Cubs-Mets, Cubs-Red Sox cause they will want to keep it big market. Probably Cubs-Red Sox.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
It was a great night for baseball for sure. Not even the biggest cynic around would dispute it was baseball's greatest night in a long time. White Sox-Yankees was perfect opponent. If they are going to do this again next year, it won't be the same. The stuff with Costner that was so special would be dumb in year two. Also the teams should be ones that have been around forever. I'd say Boston Red Sox vs. Cardinals would be a good one. This worked so well I'd let the big market Red Sox follow the Yankees. Then in year three, Cubs vs. Detroit.

Nice night. Nice win. Timmy baby. Lotsa home runs.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
I just think it's illogical to do all the pre-game work and weight lifting and all you "get off" is the actual game. Baseball is a difficult game but there's not a lot of physical activity in 9 innings. Give 'em the whole day off.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
This post will surely draw the ire of most of the regular posters. But I ask, when a player gets a day off does he actually get a day off? Does he still take batting practice, take grounders, lift weights, run before and after the game? It seems to me the act of actually playing the game (4 at bats, some running on the bases, some action on defense) is not very meaningful if he's still doing all that other stuff. Maybe it helps mentally to skip one game a week but I still think this "resting" of players stuff is overrated if the player still works out pre game and post game. Ripken never needed to take time off to recharge mentally. A true day off would be to tell the player to skip BP, skip taking grounders, skip the running. Just show up and relax a day.

I think your post is what actually will happen.

Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
I don't follow other teams as closely as I used to, in fact not at all. Sox have a lot of arms that need to be scrutinized and/or aided by DL stints, etc. And a lot of arms that need repair. Do other teams have this same problem? It seems like if you can somehow get 5 1/3 or 5 2/3 innings out of a Sox starter it's time to celebrate wildly. And a lot of pitchers have needed surgery. And it seems like there's always talk about how Sox pitchers are being watched for maximum amount of innings, etc. Are baseball pitchers close to being extinct species in sports or is this a Sox "problem" only?
