  1. Since we are being critical today, why is it Sheets no longer is consistently pounding the fastball for hits when he did it early on? Do hitters start to worry about the curve/slider thus it affects their ability to rake? Man this game is humbling.
  2. He's so good with the glove. A true vaccuum.
  3. We need to give credit when it's due. He was great.
  4. Good place to stay is Mandalay Bay which has a beach vibe pool, sand and a wave area. The Pool has a lazy river and it's on the far south end of the Strip so you are kind of alone out there. Still yet it's just a 10 minute walk to a batch of casinos like MGM, NYNY, whatever the old Monte Carlo is called now, Excalibur, Luxor. Probably a 20-minute walk to Planet Hollywood and Ballys and Paris and 30 minutes to Bellagio and Caesars and Harrahs and Mirage and Treasure Island and Wynn and Venetian. I don't know if there are any "deals" in Vegas per se. anymore. Hotels charge resort fees to jack up the price. Ripoff. Cabs and ubers are expensive now and casinos charge for parking if u are not staying there. Just check vegas.com for hotel prices or any of the other hotel sites. If you go during the week you may find something reasonable. If you don't want Mandalay and its great pool and wide open spaces out south strip, I'd recommend Caesars or Wynn. Wedding suites obviously will be big bucks at the nicer hotels like those. There's a big area by Harrah's that has many fast food options including a Chicago pizza place and In N Out Burger. Expensive steakhouse at Circus Circus believe it or not that is supposed to be great steak. Pieros for Italian dinner for two down by the Convention Center. If you want budget sitdown dinner go behind Ballys to Ellis Island and get the steak dinner with salad, potato and large beer for 10 bucks. It's still not on the menu. You ask for it. Buffets in Vegas are 80 bucksish now; I won''t pay that out of principle. Yeah it may have crab or ribs or some such but it's still just a buffet. Downtown Fremont Street has live music now for free and Circa downtown has a great sportsbook and food options in there. If you are going low low budget, stay downtown and get a suite at the El Cortez. Sounds sickening but it's remodeled and acceptable. Sites: I hear the mob museum downtown is good; Hoover Dam is an OK tour; a short drive to Henderson and Green Valley Ranch casino is nice with good food. Also LV has minor league baseball dis time of year. For nirvana, however, stay at Mandalay or Caesars or Wynn. Be careful, too, Vegas is changing like most big cities. You will get pickpocketed and it's not out of the question your room could have valuables swiped. Use the safe. Times are changing regarding safety of cities and you don't want to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in LV. I'd take ubers after midnight for sure.
  5. Too bad he hasn't improved his defense in his career. He's had some nice moments as a Sox.
  6. I would like to tip my cap to Goodwin and Jose. Jose keeps getting hit up around the head and it's sickening to see. Thanks to him for hanging in there. Goodwin is kind of a stud. He quietly contributes though today's blast was loud. I love me some Goodwin. There's a place for that guy in the big leagues, folks. Sox have received contributions from a lot of players off and on this season.
  7. Despite the recent 3-7 stretch vs. Central Division, I give him an A. Not an A plus or A minus but an A. I think he's very smart baseball mind and if anybody can get this team to snare a WS title THIS SEASON it's him. I would give our trainer a D whether if it's deserved or not. It might just be bad luck, but team has had an awful lot of injuries and our team may never be able to keep Eloy healthy. This team's record is amazing considering all the injuries. I do hope Tony does not manage weirdly in the playoffs, like only let the starters go 2-3 innings. Stay old school, Tony baby.
  8. Enjoy the ride. Lot of ball to be played.
  9. I bet Sheets gets a day off tomorrow.
  10. Those are good seats. Wish I was in Chicago.
  11. This is the singular best post of the night for those who are p'ed off at the loss. Says it all. Now who has the best positive post of the night?
  12. And it was so close to being a memorable win.
  13. Too bad Gavin couldn't elevate and tie the game at 12. Oh well, Sox aren't playing particularly good baseball of late. I realize team still is banged up. Classifies as bad loss cause the starter was handed a nice lead.
  14. I did not know Wrigley was a bad neighborhood now. Interesting.
  15. This injury sounds especially painful, bad. Sounds like he went down in a heap again. It's all over Twitter. Obviously the right think to do is get it fixed now, playoffs be darned. Baseball can't be fun when you have a significant injury and pain. In this day and age especially it's surprising he'd play with constant subluxation of shoulder, repeat episodes. Sad.
  16. Many things about the new USA (world) confuse and irritate me, many I can't go there or I'll be suspended on here. But one of them is tanking. Have fun Cubs fans getting tanked on beer at beautiful, gorgeous, cathedral-like Wrigley Field the next many years as you lose between 95 games in a good year and 105 in an exceedingly bad tank job year. Many tank jobs pay off with a couple division titles and one WS title maybe when nobody can prove whether you'd have grabbed a title anyway minus the tanking (the Sixers tank job in basketball still hasn't culminated in a title, but could). Tanking is for bars and county fairs and after football practice in 110 degree heat. Give me the old fashioned way of building a winner, baby. Not that I care about the Cubs. Always thought the old Comiskey was better than Wrigley anyway.
  17. Nice win. Some cool comments in this thread. The new Cub stunk. We caught a break when he left the game. He just didn't have it. Thought the Sox were gonna score six or so in the eighth, but I'll take the W. Jose is a stud. Sox need to start looking better at the plate. Personally I think Sox take too many pitches.
  18. When is Eloy coming back? Not to be a total d--k but I am a huge Eloy fan and can't believe he comes back and immediately gets hurt. What is going on for gosh sakes with our athletes and training staff? Tonight's lineup relies heavily on Sheets/Vaughn. Beg Herm to come back for gosh sakes. Flash him some money.
  19. Sox have the nucleus if they can stay healthy as u say. Time to seriously revamp our training staff. Guys are falling left and right. If Sox are going to win, health is key as well as Abreu, Moncada, Timmy and Eloy going nuts the rest of the way. Time for them to bash the baseball and quit being so tentative.
  20. Cubs have always had $$. Darlings of baseball mean full stadiums and lotsa $$. Pay them.
  21. The Cubs now are doing what I was so against the White Sox doing. The tank thing while rebuilding several years. Hard to believe the Cubs are yet another Chicago team (Bears, Sox, Cubs) to get just the one title out of that unit good enough to win it all. Cubs remain the most embarrassing MLB team from 1960 to now. Sox need to pull a Blackhawks and win 3 in coming years baby!
  22. On paper those two guys could lead Sox to back to back WS appearances.
  23. Sure seems like team is copying the Royals' two year run with the three-headed hydra. I can't deny those 3 guys "should" be amazing the next two seasons in that 7th, 8th, 9th role. And one of the hydra can easily pitch two innings.
  24. Not a good day to complain about Sox payroll, LOL. Proof is in action and Sox spent some money today. Though I am against prices of stuff at the ballpark paying for salaries, Sox have spent some cash this day.
