Cubs dismantled. Sox reign in Chicago.
I did not know Wrigley was a bad neighborhood now. Interesting.

Fernando Tatis Jr. thread
This injury sounds especially painful, bad. Sounds like he went down in a heap again. It's all over Twitter. Obviously the right think to do is get it fixed now, playoffs be darned. Baseball can't be fun when you have a significant injury and pain. In this day and age especially it's surprising he'd play with constant subluxation of shoulder, repeat episodes. Sad.

Cubs dismantled. Sox reign in Chicago.
Many things about the new USA (world) confuse and irritate me, many I can't go there or I'll be suspended on here. But one of them is tanking. Have fun Cubs fans getting tanked on beer at beautiful, gorgeous, cathedral-like Wrigley Field the next many years as you lose between 95 games in a good year and 105 in an exceedingly bad tank job year. Many tank jobs pay off with a couple division titles and one WS title maybe when nobody can prove whether you'd have grabbed a title anyway minus the tanking (the Sixers tank job in basketball still hasn't culminated in a title, but could). Tanking is for bars and county fairs and after football practice in 110 degree heat. Give me the old fashioned way of building a winner, baby. Not that I care about the Cubs. Always thought the old Comiskey was better than Wrigley anyway.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Nice win. Some cool comments in this thread. The new Cub stunk. We caught a break when he left the game. He just didn't have it. Thought the Sox were gonna score six or so in the eighth, but I'll take the W. Jose is a stud. Sox need to start looking better at the plate. Personally I think Sox take too many pitches.

7/30 CWS v CLE 7:10 PM CDT
When is Eloy coming back? Not to be a total d--k but I am a huge Eloy fan and can't believe he comes back and immediately gets hurt. What is going on for gosh sakes with our athletes and training staff? Tonight's lineup relies heavily on Sheets/Vaughn. Beg Herm to come back for gosh sakes. Flash him some money.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Sox have the nucleus if they can stay healthy as u say. Time to seriously revamp our training staff. Guys are falling left and right. If Sox are going to win, health is key as well as Abreu, Moncada, Timmy and Eloy going nuts the rest of the way. Time for them to bash the baseball and quit being so tentative.

Kris Bryant traded to Giants
Cubs have always had $$. Darlings of baseball mean full stadiums and lotsa $$. Pay them.

Kris Bryant traded to Giants
The Cubs now are doing what I was so against the White Sox doing. The tank thing while rebuilding several years. Hard to believe the Cubs are yet another Chicago team (Bears, Sox, Cubs) to get just the one title out of that unit good enough to win it all. Cubs remain the most embarrassing MLB team from 1960 to now. Sox need to pull a Blackhawks and win 3 in coming years baby!

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
On paper those two guys could lead Sox to back to back WS appearances.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Sure seems like team is copying the Royals' two year run with the three-headed hydra. I can't deny those 3 guys "should" be amazing the next two seasons in that 7th, 8th, 9th role. And one of the hydra can easily pitch two innings.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Not a good day to complain about Sox payroll, LOL. Proof is in action and Sox spent some money today. Though I am against prices of stuff at the ballpark paying for salaries, Sox have spent some cash this day.

Sox playoff bullpen is just disgusting
Crochet, Tepera and Bummer are not utterly "reliable" yet as to me wanting them to pitch in such a scenario. The Royals announcers were gushing about how the Sox rotation is the best in the AL. Let the starters do good work and go six minimum please.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
I personally think Madrigal is going to be a good ballplayer (even though I was against his being drafted by the Sox) and that actually seems like a good fit for him but I do approve of the trade cause it makes the team better. I feel like standing pat this time meant an early exit in the playoffs again. We shall see. I'm hoping Sox have a stellar postseason in them.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Since nobody ever praises my good posts and only bring up Anderson to catcher I have to start by saying I told you Sox would DEFINITELY acquire bullpen help. As far as what's happening, Sox are doing what real contenders do, make moves at the trade deadline. So far this has been good. Got bullpen help that actually drastically improves the team's chances and second base help that also improves the team's chances of winning the AL pennant if not the WS. I would say these moves for sure have improved the Sox odds of avoiding some sort of collapse this season (the Royals series was alarming) and believe it or not improving chances of reaching the WS and maybe winning it. Now the new players have to perform of course and injuries have to abate a bit but the Sox now are worth betting on again to possibly win it all. Good job White Sox. Your team got older but a significant bit better on paper the last couple days.

7/29/21 White Sox @ Royals @1:10
I reserve the right to change my mind, but this team does not have the "look" or "feel" of an AL champion. If Sox and their injuries and inconsistencies win this thing, LaRussa should be manager of the century and Hahn the GM of the century. Blast me if you want, but does anybody else feel the same way? I don't "feel it." Maybe it's losing 3 of 4 to one of the most average, blah teams in the history of the Royals.

Eloy's Groin Injury Thread
Poor Eloy gets hurt a lot. Damn. So sad for the guy.
-
Gavin Sheets - STUD
Sheets reminds me of Dale Murphy. Is this a prescient comparison or is it one of my worst comments since inquiring about Timmy becoming a catcher because of my comparison of him to Manny Sanguillen?

Sox @ Royals, 7/26, 7:10, Game Thread
Sox struggle vs. KC when the Royals are hot. Yes I realize Sox had won 10 in a row at Kauffman Stadium.

That was an annoying loss. KC is hot. KC better not sweep the Sox. That would disgust me.

What the Brewers Series is Telling Us
True but this year has a different feel to it. Kind of like USA Basketball showing weakness in exhibitions and nobody panicking and sure enough, they lose their Olympic opener. ... Sox seem like a team that has shown its own weaknesses that likely won't be corrected just because on paper it's possible to correct them internally. I betcha Hahn does what most contending teams have done forever, maybe a move or two at the trade deadline.

What the Brewers Series is Telling Us
I don't know what "good" lockdown bullpen help is available, but if there is any out there, my guess is the Sox will have to part with Vaughn or Sheets to acquire it. I personally think Vaughn is a better prospect than Sheets so I would expect he's the odd man out. You got to trade somebody young and good to get somebody good. Maybe Hahn can ship some minor league prospects who are not that promising to get a solid reliever or two instead of having to trade Sheets and/or Vaughn. I hope so.

7/24- Chicago @ Milwaukee, 6:10
Sox getting boatraced by Milwaukee. Oh well. As far as the angst about the postseason. It's pretty obvious Sox will be a totally different team/lineup with Robert/Eloy. Team will pick up a reliever by the trade deadline (remember greg guarantees this!) and will probably lose either Burger or Madrigal or Vaughn in the process; my guess unfortunately it will be Vaughn). This team with the new reliever, Robert/Eloy just might reach the WS. It truly might. (Assuming the starting pitching stays pretty good to excellent). Comments?

Jose Abreu - BAD in high leverage situations
Kind of a dumb topic. So do any hitters consistently excel in high pressure situations over time? My guess is no. The fact that 3 hits in 10 at bats in baseball is good tells me the math is against all players in the long run in high pressure situations. Guess what? Jose consistently knocks in a ton of runs. Oh I forgot, RBIs mean nothing in modern baseball anymore. Good luck in the future having ANYBODY qualify for the Hall of Fame with so many categories now meaningless cause of the advanced stat lovers. I guess we'll only go by home runs for hitters. Jose even does OK there. Jose is a good ballplayer; case closed. He deserves the $$ that have made him rich.
