Answering your questions ... a.) Why should the church be closed when theatres are now open; our casinos are open. I think so many things are open your question may have been more reasonable a week or so ago. Certainly with theatres, salons, (not bowling alleys yet for some reason), casinos open there is NO REASON to not open church. Grossly unfair. You said the church is not closed; the building is; reasonable argument but for some of us being in that church does matter, a lot. We like being in there and like being able to pray. For some, religion is 80 percent of their lives. Look at other religions beside my Catholicism that include prayer and stoppage of life a few times a day just to pray. Hard to explain but to me the church is closed when the building is closed. I like being in there. b.) I tried the virtual Mass and have watched some. Our parish did that until one week ago. Actually it's still available that way for those uncomfortable in coming to the open church. We still have virtual Mass. It's not like we are reckless rebels. We did the locking of the doors of the church all the way from March 12 til last Sunday when we had it all cleaned up and the regulations in place. Your line "for a bunch of people who think they are so decent," is offensive and If I wrote it I'd probably be banned. We "sacrificed" (your word) from March 12 til last Sunday, then opened for Mass. c.) Not applicable here. We have to wear masks in the building. As far as in public, I explained why I hate masks. Last week at church I touched my face several times in adjuting the mask with my glasses. I had totally trained myself during COVID to never touch my face. Masks annoy me. Sorry.

Abrams? Tell me her qualifications. I want Michelle O. I'd even take Oprah over any of those candidates Caulfield listed. And I'm serious.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Every article I'm reading (today, yes it changes) is talking about how Sweden had it right and we never needed to lock down in the first place. That's neither here nor there, I'm just intrigued by the articles at this website https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ As far as this issue, I take offense to some of you saying we are selfish people wanting churchopen. I described my church's setup. Hand sanitizer at door; three to a (long) pew. People in every fourth pew. Max of 70 in the church (we had 14 for my Mass last week). Priest limited to 45 minute Mass. No singing. We all must wear masks. No hand shaking. Why is this selfish? Our pastor cares. Meanwhile as I told you last Sunday there was a party on a lawn across the street; 50 people, food, no masks. MENTAL HEALTH means something. Church helps mental health. But suddenly we are not talking about mental health/suicides we are talking more about "suck it up, stay home." Why all of a sudden does mental health not matter.?When I had a huge huge mental crisis in life many years ago now I had my hand on the phone ready to call a mental health professional. Instead I chose church. the problem went away in a month. it worked for me. I have been forever grateful to God. I need to go to church constantly to thank him. Also I love worshiping with people. It's the highlight of the week. In a dog eat dog world, church is important to me. Again, why do some of you think the suicides, etc., are not related to this issue and suddenly we as a society go from caring about mental health to not. Also ... cmon. This is religion. It is not wise to let the government slam the doors shut on our churches. You tell me my church isn't safer than a 7-11 right now? If I get COVID, I pray my immune system works and I don't die. I hope we don't spread it. College is about to open here and think of all the students coming back from all across the country. There's more danger there of it spreading through a town that has had 58 cases than anything else. Some of us see church as ESSENTIAL ... way more than a liquor store. How come nobody answers my angry questions of why our liquor stores have been open the whole time and not church??

The interviewer in Friday's controversial interview asked him about a black woman being VEEP and Biden said he's considering many black women. I've read other stories where it will be a black woman. I want somebody qualified because that person will be president someday. Let's assume of the list you gave one of them will be president a year or so after the election. Which do you think can handle the job effectively? None except maybe Warren. Certainly not Harris. Can you guys be honest and tell me you are not scared of his choice of Abrams. My gosh, at this moment odds are at least 50-50 of her being president someday. Did you see the TV show in which she and Biden appeared and the host and Abrams thought he was going to ask her to be VEEP candidate? Nobody still can figure out why Biden wanted her on the show with him. She was not asked at the time. He's not going to pick Warren but reluctantly she would be my choice but only after Michelle Obama. Why the hell not?? Convince her to do it. She won't only be VEEP, she'll be president soon enough. She is smart; everybody loves her. Barack can help advise if she seeks his help.

I watched the whole interview. Biden was very sharp, not showing any signs of losing anything upstairs. Man, his tone is so confrontational. And his answers were so long. No wonder he doesn't do well in debates. He needs time to spit out his long long answers. I'm worried though. He's assuredly going to win the presidency but he's very old and frankly I don't want Kamala Harris or Stacey Abrams to be president. So Abrams is the likely choice for Veep I'm reading. To my liberal friends on here ... calm my fears about Abrams. What the hell makes her qualified to be president?? I'd rather have Biden pick somebody who I KNOW will be a good president. How bout one of the candidates in the primaries? Some of them seemed OK. So he must have a woman he has said. Why not the Hawaiian patriot? Tulsi? Seriously do you all want Abrams as president?? I'm serious when I say I'd rather have Michelle Obama since he said he must have an African American woman as Veep. Barack will be right there with her and certainly she'll run some ideas by him and he knows what he's doing. Why not Mrs. Obama over Stacey Abrams for gosh sakes??

We have a limit of 70 max people. Last week there were 14. Way more dangerous to be in a liquor store IMO. People are committing suicide. People are freaking out and depressed. We need church. As trump said it's an essential service. He even mentioned the liquor store fiasco. It's pretty obvious with the NCAA allowing kids on campus for volunteer workouts and the openings of movie theatres in conservative states like Kansas, that like it or not, the plan has begun to open everything up and pretty much allow us all to get the virus. Let's pray (or hope if you are not religious) we have bodies strong enough to prevail over the virus. The economy simply has to open no matter what the exotic ice cream eating governors think. Only other option is socialism and start sending us all 10,000 a crack not 1,200 bucks. Peace.

Thank goodness. Liquor stores have been open. My pastor has safety regulations totally in place. I would love to see a list of states Trump is overriding. We sit three to a row eight feet apart. Every fourth row. Masks mandatory. Hand cleaner at door. if I get it I get it. Shoulda done this weeks ago regarding churches compared to liquor stores. Anybody know if Illinois churches have been open? They are now. p.s. Like I said about last Sunday. Our Mass had 14 people. Across the street. Graduation party with at least 50. No masks. Gimme a break at the discrepancy. Pastors are taking precautions. If we get it we get it just like if we go to the store for some booze.

https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/05/21/russia-coronavirus-chief-those-meant-die-will-die/ a.) I really don't want to die from coronavirus. That will suck if some b.s. disease created suspiciously is what takes me from earth. Hope I don't die and you all don't die from this. b.) Well, it's official. The hatred Americans have toward each other is out of control. Some young man at a nursing home in Detroit is caught on tape beating the hell out of an old lady patient. They arrested him later. Hopefully he'll get life in prison. ... and a church in Mississippi burns to the ground over coronavirus concerns. Somebody didn't like them holding services. I wonder if this mask/no mask thing will cause violence soon. People wearing masks attacking those who don't. It's amazing how far we're falling. https://news.yahoo.com/mississippi-church-suing-virus-restrictions-122138656.html https://wwjnewsradio.radio.com/articles/news/man-arrested-in-beating-of-detroit-nursing-home-patient

Wow go read Doc Graham's Instagram post ... can't copy it here, wouldn't let me copy, paste. ... So turns out masks are controversial. He calls them "absurd ... they encourage the fornite transmission ("infected articles") to hand to face transmission of the virus. So go ahead and allow idiots to delude and mislead you to the false sense of security - and danger - of masks." You can find Graham's full quote on Twitter if you don't want to Instagram. Personally I'm glad to see masks losing momentum. It's common sense that you are going to touch your face more with a damn mask on and the mask is going to be moist from your mouth and that is NOT GOOD!! It's very simplistic to say a shield, a mask will keep covid out. Doesn't appear to be that way. https://www.theblaze.com/news/former-neurosurgeon-masks-ineffective Also another thing I read: “It seems kind of intuitively obvious that if you put something—whether it’s a scarf or a mask—in front of your nose and mouth, that will filter out some of these viruses that are floating around out there,” says Dr. William Schaffner, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University. The only problem: that’s not likely to be effective against respiratory illnesses like the flu and COVID-19. If it were, “the CDC would have recommended it years ago,” he says. “It doesn’t, because it makes science-based recommendations.” The science, according to the CDC, says that surgical masks won’t stop the wearer from inhaling small airborne particles, which can cause infection. Nor do these masks form a snug seal around the face. The CDC recommends surgical masks only for people who already show symptoms of coronavirus and must go outside, since wearing a mask can help prevent spreading the virus by protecting others nearby when you cough or sneeze. The agency also recommends these masks for caregivers of people infected with the virus. Just trying to say there is controversy over masks and I do not like them. Common sense is my mask is full of moistness, wet crap from the mouth after even 15 minutes and I'm adjusting it and touching my face way more with a mask on than off. Before the mask mania hit, I NEVER touched my face once during Corona crisis, now I touch it all the time.

It definitely brought back memories of high school. I will confess that after I got it soaked and combed it back and saw all that hair, especially flowing by the collar I thought I might be able to pull off a Richard Lewis look. Another 4 weeks would have been interesting to see which rock star I looked like. But the hair length gave me a headache and bothered me even though the length of it was intriguing me. But alas today I got it cut ... legally. And me, the barber and the receptionist were the only three in the shop. he is the owner and said for some reason everybody else will come in next week for work. Maybe he wanted to take care of his massive list of clients 7 a.m. til 5 p.m. to get some out of the way. He said they will all come in in different shifts to obey all rules. Greg has obeyed all rules in Kansas since our March 16 shutdown. I should have gotten a haircut the Friday before the Monday shutdown as I could have. Instead I went from Feb. 20 til May 21 without a haircut which is 12 weeks. I normally would have 3 haircuts in that span, so I have learned that I should go six weeks without a haircut instead of four.

IMO it's because of the attitudes of these government officials. If they'd work with us instead of being so mean and dictatorial .... the Chicago mayor haircut thing is one example. The meanness at press conference by the Kansas gov. and Michigan gov and Calif. gov. Now the spike consequences will be great. After two months of this, Americans were going to rebel when spoken down to as they were so often. It's like a good leader at work. These bosses who are loudmouthed jerks ... nobody wants to produce for them and will do the bare minimum to not get fired or to suck up to them. The leadership in this has been appalling. Work together; don't throw people in jail for putting food on their table and making sure their kids don't starve.

Does this bother any of you? I'm telling you. There's always something with these government officials. ... I see our dictatorial governor is moving from phase 1.5 to phase 2 in advance of her meeting with Trump. Coincidence she loosens a couple restrictions to show Donald she's reasonable in all of this? https://www.foxnews.com/politics/illinois-governors-family-firm-owns-stake-in-companies-conducting-coronavirus-testing?fbclid=IwAR3sNN4vvPoV93rlNrArGEU01BEaRSSIuUzCvx7IOB26Q0i3sTlFSYv7UOw

Jack: I have a buddy who got laid off who parks cars for Avis and loves the job. He also is a security guard at a large concert venue. I know you are qualified for desk work but seeing that you may not be a good fit for desk work where u are confined, would you consider those type jobs? I bet if u applied you'd get jobs like that within six months. Or be a consultant from home? Or an IT worker for a big company from home?

Yes, this would be very bad timing with the chance of stoppages any time there is a spike in corona in the future. If there's a window to play ball, they should play.

This changes daily and now it seems like the differences are too big to have a season. It seems to me the numbers suggest these players will be OK if they contract coronavirus. Play ball.

Did you say you had a person to person meeting? Was it a dress issue? Did you show up in shorts? I feel your pain, Jack. But it seems the company is liable for a lawsuit in firing you without a reason. When you slacked at night did you sense irritation on their part? Did your questions set them off that you would be too needy? Take care. Hang in there. You'll find your niche. But it might be smart to do a mock interview or session with somebody on Soxtalk who is a manager who could assess the situation. I bet some folks on here would help u. GO SOX! and take care.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
It's hard for me to envision owners making near as much money without fans. I know TV contracts are huge but parking and the cost of tickets you'd think is more than chump change. I realize they are taking a bath this year but for one year of corona I think owners should pay the entire contract of a player. They have the reserves/money to do so. Then if corona sticks around in 2021 reduce the pay. Also, how are TV stations immune from the economic depression? It seems like their money is limitless. Who is taking out ads now? How does TV have all this money when businesses are trashed by the lockdown and the disease? Will TV money ever run dry?

I wonder if the brutal Chinese regime knows all about you since you've been there a while. Are you being watched closely? As far as what I propose, just a war of words right now and wish the people of the USA would wake up and realize what China did in this crisis is as bad or worse than even Trump. The world may never be the same because of this virus and the virus is the fault of China. One would be naive to think this is the last virus they will cause.
