You are coming to the wrong conclusion IMO. My position will be forever ... if people are hoarding all the disposable masks and I can't get one, shame on them. I'm not selfish in not wanting to wear a cloth mask that I had to order online (many people still don't go online and put their CC info on there) and doesn't fit right and is hard to tie. And falls off. Get me some boxes of 50 masks that are not price gouged and maybe we can talk. I'll tell you right now. Masks reek. I'll wear them where I'm told I have to wear them (planes, trains, barber shop, church).

I don't blame the players for talking this way. I don't think anybody who is still locked down should ever blast a player for concern. This virus is either life and death or it isn't. We've been thoroughly conditioned the last 2 months to thinking this thing is lurking everywhere ready to kill and we've been shamed into thinking about doing anything. Can't have it both ways. When players balk, they balk. The politicians have been dictatorial about this. We are in danger every ,moment we leave our abodes. Big danger. So either pay the players their entire salaries or forget the season. Owners can afford it (right now).

I think the players should get 100 percent of the contract they signed. But I also think companies should suck it up and not lay off anybody during corona. Players need to get full pay. Will they or will they settle? For one season owners should suck it up. they got the $$.

We've always been that way. The only times we've come together and banded together, in modern times, are whenever a hurricane hits somewhere. We band together to rescue and help people. If politics is involved at all ... we despise each other. That's why I like going to Mass so much and wanted it open if possible. People for one hour a week are in one place with no selfish motives in mind, just love. I've found it the only hour a week in which the world is not the rat-race, except like I say when tornadoes or hurricanes hit. People get out their boats and help. This crisis not so much because of politics and politicians power hungry IMO.

How bout making masks available that are a.) easily acquirable and disposable and that are readily available? Masks were hoarded just like everything else. Also nobody has explained to me how to keep a mask clean before you put it on in a restaurant, church, etc. You put it in a briefcast, germs. Put it on your car seat, dust and germs. Put it on your table at home waiting to wear it, germs. We need masks you can buy in disposble groups of 50 for a reasonable price if we have to wear masks.

Yeah. One of my popular, repeated views on here about Trump in the political forum back then was he is a rich guy who has been catered to his whole life with yes men and women. All the rich guys I've known have been selfish jerks. He is a rich guy who would not let you golf in his foursome, that is so. I agree with howard.

He's really taking a chance. I heard him today say college should definitely be in session, maybe have teachers over 60 take a few months off. If colleges open and it's a disaster, Trump won't be able to escape the consequences. I bet if COVID runs amok he withdraws from the race. If covid is controlled he'll probably win again.

Nice post. I'm glad you said you agree about China being an enemy. I get the feeling from PC culture that many Americans think China is OK. I'm so skeptical about China. I'm not anti America at all. I'm pro America. I would love for all of us to work together, with politicians leading the way. Problem is they do things daily to anger me beyond belief.

See, greg has been mentioning mental health (mine) on here for a while now. My positions of needing a haircut and wanting to get a coffee and go to church have been mocked or criticized greatly. All of a sudden mental health which is ALL we cared about in America (open bathrooms for all, etc) suddenly dissipated to nothing. Basically I've been told to "suck it up" and stay home. The article said to ... Connect online: See friends and family by Zoom or phone. Feeling understood and sharing feelings of pain can help alleviate it. Seek teletherapy or group therapy: Hmmmm ... could those include message board support?

They need to get on the field cause of all the unknowns about sports. Even the Illinois governor, who is so slow to open things up, wants baseball to be played as a TV sport with no fans. Owners need to do what it takes to play now because the future of spectator sports is certainly in jeopardy. The every day fan is not going to have the money to buy season tickets the next few seasons and will be reluctant to sit in crowds. If they wipe out the entire season it'll be easier for fans to never come back considering how expensive it is and considering how many will have no disposable income after getting laid off. Because of the risk involved, they should give the players pretty much whatever they want to get on the field in July.

Regarding myself: I may b**** and moan about (no haircut, no church, no sitting in a huge coffee shop with an average of 4 people in it; wearing a mask that's hard to tie and hits my glasses) but I have abided by all rules instituted by our power hungry governor. I have disobeyed no rules in all this while losing my mind slowly over this 8 week lockdown. If you met me you would know though I am different, I am sincere. I am a die hard Sox fan who is spoiled like the rest of us (hence the haircut bemoaning and church bemoaning). I don't buy that. You are writing here to a guy who believes China is our ENEMY. And I am not convinced this isn't all set up by China, which despises us and realizes this day and age of PC is a good time to weaken us and eventually take us over and rule the world. I think everybody has sacrificed in the short term; it's just that people after two months are fed up with it. No job means no $$ means starvation and homelessness. Maybe government shoulda given everybody 5,000 bucks a month to shut em up.

Chances are that won't be until May 2021 at the earliest. I'm no dummy and this this is going to spike so badly this flu season. So what do we do for food and money to pay rent? If we go til May 2021 it could be 60-80 percent unemployment. What the hell are we gonna do when the food shortages cause utter havoc? If it's locked down until its safe, a.) governors need to send us 5,000 dollars per month and b.) somehow the government needs to keep the groceries stocked cause all restaurants will be shuttered down.

I'm just trying to figure your position on the economy. Some of my relatives in Illinois who want to stay locked down are of the position the economy means nothing: let's get through this corona thing by having everyone stay at home for as how long as it takes; 2 years is fine with them). My take is the economy is JUST AS BIG a concern as corona cause of starvation, shortages, riots, the end of the world, really when human nature takes over with food scarce. My main point is: this corona thing is not going to be solved until minimum May 2021 probably a lot longer than that. Meanwhile the economy is ready to make our lives even more miserable than corona. Once there are food lines in front of grocery stores and you have to wait 24 hours to get in and everything else is closed ... God help us all. My take is we must work together to be as safe as possible while not having 1/2 of America out of work. My relatives don't care about the economy at all. They are like, first things first. End this corona scare. The economy can wait.

Very true. But in corona-America I bet you some owners are scared. With the prospect of sports without crowds (until there is a vaccine/cure) and what that entail$$, owners are relying only on TV money. And at some point all the networks will be stripped of money to pay those contracts because of the collapsed economy. We could be at 50 percent unemployment in the USA by the end of corona concerns.

Great points! I am assuming you are in the "Keep it locked down" crowd. We're up to 20 percent unemployment. How high can we go before the riots? The shortages? Dick ... are you confident in the scenarios I've mentioned regarding travel (even travel on the train from Naperville to downtown Chicago and back; and the uber and the bus) that the corona germ would EVER be absent in your daily life once it resumes to normal? They can clean all they want. We have two choices: Stay locked down til May of 2021 or 2022, completely locked down til we have vaccine or treatment, or open it up to an earth where slobs will make sure there are germs out there RAMPANT during flu season (September til March). You want it locked down for a long time, right? I say we can't lock it down any longer cause of life.

I knew somebody would say that to my post. I want all reasonable precautions taken ... but we have to open. Like I said ... take 3-4 business trips any winter and oh yes there will be germs. Oh yes you are gonna get sick, maybe violently sick like my cough/cold last winter. BOOM. WOW. And yet I kept working through it. Why? In the old normal a cold didnt keep you from working. Now? Who knows. A cough/cold might shut you off a plane or train or bus immediately. I'm not talking of precautions. I'm talking life. We've been through this two months. Now summer is here; delightful summer and everything is canceled. How long do we have things shut down. Til we get a vaccine? Some people are anti vax anyway; they'll give us corona. Til we have a cure of symptoms? OK let's shut it down with the same lockdown regulations until lets say May of 2022. Good luck. Violence in the streets. No food. End of the world. Answer this badger: Is life meant to be about only trying to stay alive? Precautions? YES by all means. Will we still get corona? Yes and may die from it. You know what Balta ... you make EXCELLENT points. Guess what. Like my post to badger, no matter the precautions, no matter the cleaning, people are going to get the virus just as kids in the past have gotten sick during the school year. They call them sick days for a reason. Think about before corona ... flu season. Ouch! Kids getting sick, bringing it home, getting their parents sick. Yet we move on and get well hopefully. I have a good friend whose wife died of the flu. Bonecrushingly sad. Brings me to tears a lot that the fricking flu killed her in her 30s. My point: Like I said: Life is not meant to be lived just to preserve our life. We take risks every day and unfortunately after 2 months of this we are going to have to take some risks. And I say this as somebody who yes, will get corona if my lifestyle remains the same and may die of corona if the symptoms remain this bad. I hate this for everybody but either we never open school again and deal with that or we open them NOW and take a few risks as we do every winter with germs/cold/flu season. And the fact a bus could hit our kids. Or a rabid dog could bite them, etc. Be cautious. YES. But reopen. We must or we all will die of starvation anyway. Stores will have no food. Violence will erupt with a crushed economy. Life will not be worth living. Comments?
