My frustration with this situation is some of these governors appear way too power hungry, including the one in Kansas who won't let me get my hair cut. I feel like there needs to be a balance here. The economic impact of this suggests people soon will be dying. Deaths of hunger and being homeless because of layoffs are real. We must compromise and put people back to work. And these power hungry governors need to shut the bleep up with their ORDERS and COMMANDS. I'll proably be arrested before this is all over cause I'm not going to wear a mask at all times. So I'll probably be thrown in jail. This situation makes me understand why so many people want to keep their guns. I never would be comfortable with a gun but I can see why people would feel the need to have one with possible chaos coming if not this pandemic but the next. Take care Caulfield. Thanks Mags. I ordered two masks from a neighborhood person that I pick up tomorrow. That's all I've been doing, what you suggest except for the mask. Do you think I should go for a haircut? We have relaxed rules Monday but if they don't include barbers I'm considering having a barber who allegedly has a chair in his basement cut it? I am sick of my long corona hair but am wondering if the cut is a bit risky even with my mask.

Not idiots. How come mental health just two months ago was a huge deal, something we cared about 24/7. Making sure no students were triggered ever; making sure all groups of people like transgenders were taken care of mentally considering the large amounts of suicides. Making sure kids were not bullied. Making sure people were protected at political rallies. Now that we have corona ... it's no concern about mental health. There's the order: STAY INSIDE!!! WEAR MASKS (even though none are available in Kansas). Guess what? Some people need to leave their homes for mental health reasons. And some have to work where there are people LEST THEIR KIDS STARVE. So don't group all people as idiots. I have to get out of my house or I will have mental health problems! But that suddenly doesn't matter? Suck it up they say. You can't go from one stance to another so drastically in 2 months. Mental health matters and economic health matters and some peeps have to leave their homes occasionally. They are not all idiots.

Thanks Pete. My mom had Alz. My grandfather had Alz. And I have a friend whose mom had Alz and he is convinced Joe has early stage Alz. That's neither here nor there though. I'm not the only one to suggest this. You do act as if I was the first to bring this up about Joe. Joe Rogan podcast has had full episodes about Joe having Alz. Do a google on the issue and you'll find stories. It's not me bringing this up. I am heartened by what you wrote about Joe not having behaviors of anybody with Alz. I'll trust you on it and won't bring it up again unless there are developments in the media about this.

I respect your post, but I said they were 2 horrific candidates last time, not just one. I'm not standing up for Trump. Caulfield ... what do you think of my theory that Hillary, Warren or Michelle will be the "savior" candidate at the convention with Biden conceding he has some Alz issues? This is a new world. We never thought we'd be locked down for months in our homes. I think I have made a correct prediction here.

I think Bernie could have beaten Trump. Not Joe cause of his apparent (possible?) early Alz. issues. He doesn't make sense much of the time. Remember this day when greg predicted Warren or Hillary or even Michelle would be the emergency candidate. BTW I'd vote for a healthy Joe. I kind of like him.

Hey Balta, You can't deny (I don't think) that those were two horrific candidates last time and this time? Even worse choices only because God bless him, Biden appears to have mental capacity issues (early Alz?). This isn't just greg watching him lose his train of thought all the time when speaking (did you see his interview with Gore on earth day in which Gore was dumbfounded by Joe's inability to make sense?). I personally feel Warren is going to get the nomination when all is said and done (because of Joe medical issues) and then will probably lose to Trump. Election fraud will be cited (maybe with good reason in this day and age of the Russian/China hacks).

They are hoarding it in Lawrence Kansas I'll tell you that. Total selfishness. Students haven't been here for weeks, turning it into a ghosttown and still the toilet paper can't be found. The stores are packed every day/night. People here have panicked and been so selfish in buying up toilet paper, hand sanitizer, etc. Very sad I can't get any toilet paper in modern America.

It's not your fault but this is a world-changing experience and it is all downhill from here. Why? Germs/virus. They are the hidden killers. And now that they have been proven effective you can bet the ugly countries of China, Russia and North Korea will be creating viruses to continue the work of COVID-19. It's all over and it's not pretty. The food shortages will bring violence and civil unrest. Now I can finally see why people didn't want to give up their guns despite the horror caused by them. They actually may be needed for protection if this thing goes where I envision it going (food shortages leading to fights in overnight lines at stores; invading people's homes, etc). I will say I hope I'm wrong; I pray I'm wrong. I don't want the world to be a horrible place for the rest of time. I want happiness for all. But when I read this virus isn't going away; will only worsen this winter and I see a torn apart country with people unwilling to make decisions for the common good but only poliltical agendas, well again badger, I say it's over. Suddenly, out of nowhere we've gone from a country whose worst problems were hurting people's feelings to a serious threat regarding the end of humankind. Just in a few weeks. (If somebody can talk me off the ledge, please do. Maybe my negativity has been overwhelming since I have been kept from going to church the past six weeks and my mental state is affected by not getting to worship at my favorite place, church. I would love somebody to convince me I am wrong. I sense monetary disaster, riots, starvation and an all out germ warefare assault by our enemies (who most of america don't consider our enemies because that would be insensitive/racist). You better believe China wants us dead.

Scary stories out there about food shortages coming. Especially no meat. Once we start having to stand in line overnight to be allowed to hoard food ... violence will ensue. Just my opinion. If they are going to stockpile toilet paper (and they haven't stopped hoarding it) wait til they get to the food when it's announced shortages are coming.

I would certainly think tourism is dead for a long long time to come. Is Vegas airport actually accepting flights from all the countries with people who love to come to Vegas and New York? I thought Trump closed it down to non citizens. Can you imagine a crowded craps table or blackjack table? Casinos are going to be filled with the virus.

Hey Dick, this concern about people not wearing masks troubles me. I can't find a mask anywhere to purchase. If people want to go to the stores and hoard them like they did toilet paper, there's nothing people like me can do to find a mask. Angers me that stores can't just sell masks. People are so damn greedy. Still no toilet paper in Kansas. Or masks.

Reasonable post. I flip flop as I read different stuff. As I read your post and read about "clustering" occurring immediately at the few churches that have opened and some of the plants where people have to work close together, I shift to the "no way we'll ever have sports with crowds again." Maybe a couple hundred rich guys and gals (boosters) and their families will sit in the upper deck spread out during college events. Maybe some rich corporations will sit in the upper deck spread out at baseball and NFL games; a few hundred. But the way people are seated so close to each other? How can we ever have that again? I do see the athletes risking this and playing with no crowds in pro sports. College is tricky because if the campuses are closed to students (and again, how can we ever have kids go to classes again?) you can't have sports if campus is closed to all other students. It would take elimination of the NCAA and just having paid to play college aged "pros" wear the college jerseys and compete. That said: I can't see money being the holdup here; owners are going to have to pay full salaries.

They should have some fun with the season since it's going to be so weird. How about take all the teams and have an NCAA type tournament bracket and just keep playing tournaments. At the end of the year the team that won the most bracketed tournaments is WS champ. Or the top two teams can play a 7 game series.

If they start bickering about money and that starts getting all the coverage, screw baseball. The public will be in no mood for that. Either agree to pay the players their entire salaries (pro rated by amount of games missed) and they accept that, or just cancel the season. This is no time for haggling. Play ball. I'm quite convinced we won't have spectator sports ever again so it's time we get used to sports played in a studio like setting. Get it started, sports world.

It's interesting how any discussion of a White Sox all time team usually results in the really old players or deceased players getting the nod at so many positions. For instance any talk of pitchers you usually hear Billy Pierce and Ed Walsh; Ted Lyons, Early Wynn. Reliever you hear WIlhelm. Everyday players you hear Minnie Minoso, Appling, Jim Landis, Eddie Collins, Nellie Fox, Little Luis Aparicio. Of the modern era players it's good to see Fisk is generally regarded as our top catcher; Konerko gets the nod at first; and Buehrle is usally listed a top pitcher but what about love for Baines, Ventura, Dick Allen, Sale, AJP, McDowell, Hurt, Ozzie, Hoyt, Thiggie, Wilbur Wood, Hoyt on some of ther all time great lists?? Why the oldies?

I never thought about the paying of the players. Seems to me they need to get their full salaries that they signed. Owners, if they lose a lot of money, or some money this season, can make it back in the future ... if we ever get back to having crowds at games again. It will take a huge change in American culture (from being locked up in your home scared to death to move around amid stay at home orders) to going to a packed ballpark with 45,000 people. It's going to take a lot to get people to overcome that fear for a long time. I would think organized religion will take a huge hit as well and the movie industry. People are simply going to be frightened when they are allowed to live again. But as far as the money ... pay the players their entire contract.
