I have enjoyed ptatc's posts on healthcare. Even though I'm fed up with fees that insurance companies reject, I have often wondered if the government run healthcare would be a disasger and ptatc indicates it will be. This is what I want to hear from politicians. Does anybody really trust that the government can run medicare for all? Health care for all for free? My guess is it will be a fricking disaster. Politicians ought to just say that. As much as "liberal" people want free healthcare, odds are it will be run so poorly it will harm our country. Just say it, politicians. Our government will not run healthcare efficiently.

Her ongoing expenses will be ongoing. Cept for SS she will need to feed herself daily, and pay rent monthly unless she buys a house and pays cash.

I agree. This is the only reason I'm tempted to vote for a candidate who will have government run medical care. Do I think the government system will be effective? Hell no. I do not. But I am so pissed at insurance companies for a.) inflating prices for meds and hospital stays/treatements and b.) declining procedures aftre the fact that yes I want it FREE and want it from Bernie. The insurance companies have forced me to this stage. Also after paying into SS for years I want that money someday and don't want the system to be scrapped and me out of luck. Yes I'm upset.

**Movies that we Watch** Thread
Maybe it's an easy role but I think Nicholson's work in 3 movies shows his greatness: The "you can't handle the truth" movie he is insanely brilliant; the movie Kukoo's Nest he is insanely brilliant and the movie with Shirley McLaine where McLaine's daughter dies of cancer he is supurb. I just think Streep is outstanding on the women's side. p.s. Office Space was on TV last night and I had to watch. Dammit what a movie!

I have a relative whose net worth is close to $1 million after inheriting money after both parents' deaths. She has no dependents and her husband is dead. She is close to retirement age. Question: What do she do with that kind of money when she'll need to start spending some of it during retirement years? She currently is working. Is 900,000 to 1 mill enough to live on combined with social security payments that can start whenever she wishes between 62 and 65? I know nothing about money so thought I'd ask you kind folks.

Nah, the buster should not return. No Filibuster means less people getting put on vacation on here. There were too many assumptions made about people when discussing controversial issues in the buster. As somebody who went against more liberal opinions on matters 90 percent of the time, I got accused of many bad character traits when nobody had the right to judge me off opinions on a message board. As far as jobs ... allegedly unemployment is down and there should be some good jobs out there to be had.

Michael Kopech
Is that cause of the surgery? I tell you, surgery is so common now that if Baseball America says he's a 3 because of arm surgery, then there will be a lot of projected 3 4 and 5s in baseball, cause it seems all young starters have surgery.

New MLB 2020 Rules (Effective March 12th)
Thank goodness on the three batter rule. A small positive step for fan-kind. I despise pitchers coming in for one batter.
-
Mlb might be changing playoff format
If baseball allows teams to pick their opponents, that's fine. But it's pretty radical so they might as well implement a lotta other new rules as well. If that breaks the ice, start new rules to speed up games. Got to have a clock on pitchers and make it a quick clock. Make them throw the ball in a timely (fast) manner. Also fix the strike zone and move it up over the belt which is an insult at the present time. Also have a 2 batter limit for each reliever. Also outlaw managers coming to the mound to talk to pitchers and limit the number of times catchers can walk even halfway to the mound. Speed up the fricking games. Also let's say a game goes 4 hours which is common but ridiculous. Have each team be penalized somehow for this happening. Maybe put a run on the board for the opposing team in the next series. If the opposing team also went over 4 hours in a recent game, they give up a run as well. My point it if baseball playoff team can pick an opponent, no other rule change is too radical. Oh yes and outlaw shifts somehow.

KW says "no Puig"
I don't know why we'd want Puig after acquiring that young RF'er Mazara. If we got Puig I'd think we'd trade Mazara or send him to minors. I guess we'd have some excess bodies if we get the Cuban outfield superstar candidate Colas and Puig. Maybe we'd trade EE or Jose or Puig for another very good starting pitcher.

Cuban Phenom defecting Oscar Colas
If we get this guy we have more potential stars than any team has had in a long time. Hate to bring it back to RR, but he's got to make us win with potential superstars in Yoan, Robert, Eloy, Timmy, Madrigal, and already very good players/all star types in Grandal, Abreu, EE. Not to mention Cease and Kopech and the Astros guy. Our only weakness is bullpen and we have average guys to work with there it seems.

FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
I can't believe they drafted this guy. At the time I tried to shut up lest I get banned but the pick screamed, NO. It just did. To think people who scout for a living approved Burger. ... That said I always wish our guys the best and some intelligent peeps on this board said he was good, so whatever. It's why I DESPISE the draft. You just never know. I am a results guy and somebody should be fired if Burger is a total bust. p.s. thank u for the well written excellent article.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Geez. Do the stores have food? Enough food? I did have a question. I've read the symptoms are usually not life threatening. What would happen if people just went about their everyday lives. I mean when we get a bad cold or the flu here, most people only take a day off work. Sure people get infected and sick from others germs but life goes on. How come they can't just let the disease run its course like the flu here? Just let everybody go out and about and whoever gets sick gets sick a week max? Like the flu here? I mean if it's not life threatning is it that big a deal if peeps get sick? Bless you and yours! It must be maddening to never leave your house.

Soxfest news and notes
I know it. I defended him all year again as I'm a fan that not only thinks he's a great clubhouse guy but I like the numbers he's put up. Yes the old antiquated BA, HR, RBI. Me likey.
-
Soxfest news and notes
I wish those who hate (OK, dislike, didn't want to sign, etc) would actually see him in action at such event. They'd see how special it is to have him in our clubhouse.
-
Just Because The Twins signed Donaldson.......
I like having EE in the lineup. If he has a good year, he's really going to help make us legit. Surprised we haven't traded McCann yet. He can't be happy. I'd dump him for a reliever. That'd be huge.

MLB cheating scandal
You must strip the titles for the integrity of the game. If they leave it be, they better reinstate Pete Rose tomorrow. And apologize for penalizing the Black Sox. This is as bad as any. To know what pitch is coming??? Cmon. Fathom could get hits that way.
-
MLB cheating scandal
Look, this is a terrible scandal. Teams got caught cheating. Astros and Red Sox should have titles stripped and/or not be allowed in the MLB draft for five years. Cheating is fine. You get caught you pay.

McDowell says White Sox/Larussa Cheated
La Russa should be investigated for this alleged wrongdoing IMO.

How come Houston gets to keep its WS trophy? Blatant cheating and the Altuve thing is crazy. It's obvious he was hiding something under that jersey, totally obvious.

Long-Term Viewership Trends for Sports
I know a lot of people that never will pick up the check for a pretty darn cheap meal. So yes, the cost of baseball is important to many. Now the rich boomers who list baseball as their favorite sport, don't care about the prices, but the regular Joe does. Baseball refuses to attack the issue of length of games. So it actually might be smart to shorten the game to seven innings. Or have 50 percent of the games 9 innings, 25 percent eight innings and 25 percent 7 innings for starters. Some of these posts ring true. I realize you can get bargain prices on tickets through stubhub if you are willing to sit in the crap seats and that the Sox have various specials, but also you can get his 50 dollars for a decent box seat, 19 dollars for a burger basket and drink; 12 dollars for a beer; 7 dollars for a soft drink, etc. It's like going to the movies too. Very expensive.
