  1. I checked google and there were no prices for The Cell available. So there. It still belies the point. It costs a good buck to get food, drink and to park the car and the Sox have a responsibility to try to win or hand out refunds. If Colome is still doing well and the team is doing well and they trade him for some Top 80 prospect, fans should get some sort of refund.
  2. WBW you are what's right with our fandom. This guy (WBWSF) goes to half the fricking games!! Of course he deserves to have a closer on his favorite team who can get people out in the ninth and win some of the games he pays TOP DOLLAR to attend. When WBW is drinking his 10 dollar soft drink and eating his 8 dollar hot dog (greg estimates) or chugging his 11 dollar beer (greg estimate) he deserves to WIN if possible. Giving away a fairly reliable closer for some prospect is so damn stupid IMO. When does the fan count just a little bit???? The prospect in all likelihood won't ever sniff the bigs. GO SOX! GO WBW, you sir are a real fan.
  3. I love you vile, and that's not hyperbole. My kinda poster. Another guy I would like to see in the Cell stands this summer if I go to 2 games. Great post IMO. Some people wanna flip Colome for a prospect or two, then I guess in the winter sign another closer who is good to lead our team next season. Logic says, uh, if you are going to need to acquire one in 7 months, why not just keep the one you have now? "Wait til next year" is a lousy saying IMO. Let's win as many games as we can now and again next season. Let's leave the flip to the chef at Wonderburger on 111th and Kedzie.

How come nobody praised greg for the pre-Game One prediction all hell would break loose this series cause the Royals pull this kind of bleep all the time. Hitting TA in the head? I can't believe some national announcers were OK with it. I'd think an 86 mph changeup to the face still will cause a lotta dental damage. WTF?
  5. He turns 29 in June. He is a catcher. Modern metrics tells us he will not be signed to any significant extension cause of age.

Of course the order is to keep playing Alonso. You acquired him for 9 million and acquired him to be a stud. First of all Ricky knows he has to keep playing such player. If he didn't, then he'd be asked what's up. Certainly Hahn and/or KW talk to Rick on a daily basis. It's been made clear you don't bench Alonso. Otherwise you totally embarrass the guy who acquired him. And you wouldn't even have given Alonso, the 9 million dollar man, a chance to bat in the warm weather.
  7. Don't discount the likelihood of trading for prospects. I think that's what the new-age fan and front office wants and demands. They're going to dump Colone and it's not gonna be for veterans. Prospects. I think a good portion of new-wave fans would love to drop Abreu for prospects despite his huge numbers that few prospects will ever match.
  8. I hope you are right Richie. I feel like this team is the team that played Minnesota. Hopefully I'm wrong. I do love victories. The hitters seem to be developing the uppercuts needed to launch balls over the fence at the Cell. I wish we'd bring up Palka since he appears to have the uppercut going. Anyway, I hope you are right that we are competitive.
  9. Man the bats were out tonight. I feel sorry for you guys that don't enjoy every aspect of Abreu. The man is a fricking stud, one of my favorite Sox ever. I'll be so pissed if we trade him at any point. Eloy baby is coming. Even Alonso seems to at least help us be competitive against Cleveland which is nice since we play them so many fricking times. Our pitching blows but nice to see the team hit well at the Cell again. Renteria may stink on decision making in games and lineups, but in the big picture, the team must really like playing for him. This team has overachieved so much this year under Rick. GO SOX!
  10. An interesting question as the team ponders hitting .500 is the question, "Can a team improve its roster much during the season without getting ripped off in trades?" It's obvious as this team stands, the White Sox have overachieved big time and if things stay the way they are, the team ultimately will finish 20 or so under .500 and as one of the worst teams in the league. However ... the team also has a handful of the best players in the game. They are Moncada, Tim, Abreu, Eloy, Gio and Colome. You might want to throw a hot McCann in there. So ... after releasing Alonso you bring up Palka and make him full time DH and hope for the best there. However you need two starting pitchers, a setup reliever and you need an Avi Garcia type of bat for the outfield. You need a lot of help on the mound. So you gamble and bring up Cease, acquire a veteran stud starter and those two relievers and you might make the playoffs. Of course Manny or Harper would have really helped the cause. So what do you say? Can you improve during the course of a season without getting ripped off in trades or not? Do you stand pat, feel good about the highlights and go ahead and let it play out and ultimately finish 20-30 below or make some deals? (The only argument I'll accept other than my questions is ... are so many teams tanking that the Sox as they stand actually are better than the other tank teams and as a process of elimination can keep this type of record all year?). I'm sure you all agree with me as it stands our roster is not what would be deemed a winning roster.
  11. True, that I haven't been a fan of many many of our acquisitions. They just seem to sign guys that don't excite me AT ALL. Yes almost every signing has angered me. John Jay, Beef, even McCann (who I think I may be wrong about), Soria, other relievers. That would change if they signed somebody I liked. For instance remember all the rumors of Markakis being a Sox? I always wanted him. I did want Harper, not so much Manny.
  12. If u stop calling him Rey-Lo he might get good again I prefer some other nickname. Lucas is an all star, folks.
  13. Glad to beat those bastards. Any win over KC pleases greg. We have a lot of making up to do from past seasons. I hope we beat them like a drum all season. Good job, Sox.
  14. Avi hustling his ass around the bases tonight. .284, 10 HR, 23 RBI. Guess Greg is not a bad judge of talent after all. It is simply a disgrace that Avi Garcia is not patrolling RF for the Sox this season. And yes his bat would have helped this lineup. Ridiculous that fans despised him so. On a team with so many busts, Avi was the least of our problems. Hail Avi Baby!!
  15. It depends on the player. If he's Avi Garcia we judge him early, when we want to, and we deem him disposable. If he's one of the beloved guys who are supposed to be the cornerstone or even roster pieces of the rebuild, we give them all the time in the world. Mr. Rutherford, Madrigal, Collins, Soto (is he still with the Sox), please take all the time u need.
  16. 12th round draft pick; is Seby any good?
  17. Cleveland has yet to win it all and they did the tank thing. Minnie might yet get hot in the postseason.
  18. Some Sox fans are always going to be happy because they love the modern era of tank/rebuild and they love the draft. Case closed IMO. In the past I've maintained we "might" have been just as good keeping Q and Sale and Eaton and spending some big bucks to pull a repeat of 05. Caveat: I have the belief we won all 3 trades and they are fine. I just don't see this tank/rebuild thing working better than my way. Remember, our division SUCKS. It doesn't take much to start winning it.

Madrigal's twin brother is a pitcher at St. Marys. I would draft him. One of the two is bound to work out. Odds, baby; odds.
  20. When I was a kid, my grandpa took me to a ton of Cubs games because the family consisted mostly of Sox fans and nobody else would go with him. At the exact same time, we had Sox season tix so my dad took me to a ton of Sox games. I'm not sure how this happened, but even though I thoroughly enjoyed going to both, I only cared about the Sox. Attending Cub games was fun enough, watching MLB and being in an MLB ballpark and enjoying my grandfather buying me stuff. I only cared about the Sox results however. I pretended for him to want the Cubs to win but didn't really care. My poor grandfather. Once we moved to the suburbs (he moved there also as his wife died) he was surrounded by Sox fans and I got older and went to Sox games with my own friends. Poor gramps. I shoulda kept going to some Cub games with him, but kids can be kinda selfish. Young and dumb.

What I mean by meaningless is we're playing for nothing in terms of possible postseason. To have that be the case in late May is very very sad. I realize Eloy, Yoan, Timmy and Gio have to continue to develop but frankly nobody else need bother. Even Abreu ... I'm getting a sneaky feeling Sox aren't gonna pay him nuff and he'll be dealt, too. I'm thankful I was busy this weekend and didn't get to see any of that series. I despise Minnie and that would have been bad for my demeanor.

Good point Jack. I agree with your three.

Shows you how much we'd overachieved the first six weeks. The losses are gonna be coming fast and furious in June and July and August. Season already is over except for meaningless at bats for our younger hitters and meaningless innings for our pitchers.
  24. To those who live in Chicago ... are people embracing the tank? Are the Sox generating any buzz in the local sports scene? Are they relegated to 10 seconds on the sportscasts or popular? Has the team finally become an afterthought, almost like a minor league team compared to the Cubs?
  25. I want to sit next to you when I come in for a couple games this summer. You are my kind of fan. I endorse this post 1000 percent! Thank u sir.
