Sox @ Astros 5/22 Gamethread
It just took 36 seconds in between pitches. Cmon baseball you can do better.

Sox @ Astros 5/22 Gamethread
That's such a poor MLB lineup. I truly don't know how we had a decent first six weeks. My gosh this team has a pathetic make-up.

Time for some changes, Rick
Signing Jon Jay and Alonso are such fireable offenses! And some of the pitching signings! The fact nobody is fired shows the Sox don't fire people.

How many wins do you expect out of this road trip?
Our roster isn't built to beat Houston in Houston. I would be shocked if we win one game in this series. One is always possible in baseball but frankly I don't see any reason we should get one of four there. Maybe 1-3 at the Cell vs. Houston.

White Sox @ Astros: a game thread
And yet the front office could give a crap about loyal fans. As long as the organization gets all that TV money, who cares about loyal fans? Not Jerry and the rest of 'em. Glad you are rich, Jerry.

Yeah, most of the players are below average on this crap team, but I contend the totally horrific hitters give absolutely no protection to the halfway decent hitters. They also give Verlander the knowledge that this is gonna be one of the easiest wins of his season. I seriously would not object to Fathom or a moderator batting instead of Wellington.

I'd just love to hear him say it rather than accept all the accolades for a dandy performance.

Yes but it's very very easy to throw a 1-hitter against a team that purposely is tanking and putting several inept hitters in the lineup on a daily basis. As well as several pitchers who are unbelievably bad.

I hope you went to see our cool uniforms (not being sarcastic; gotta love the Sox jersey and hat in person) and not the games cause as expected we're getting swept.

Don't make the same mistake some made with Yoan. Eloy is going to be great. This is why he's been brought up. To go through his learning curve this season and next. It pains me to say that, though, to think of all the losses we'll have before the tank job is over. But anyway ... cmon. Eloy will be just like Yoan and Timmy. It takes just a bit of time. He may even rake in July/August for all we know.

Verlander should admit after the game how much easier it is to beat a tanking team than a team that actually tries to win.

Time for some changes, Rick
The way this season is going Alonso will get his at bats and his big salary guaranteed another year. Why not? It's just $9 million and the Sox have to have a payroll over a certain amount to make it seem like they are at least half-assed trying to win rather than just stuff Jerry's pockets with cold hard cash.

Eaton and Frazier are in a feud in 2019...stemming from Drake Laroche
Wow! Love Frazier. Anybody have last night's quotes from Adam? Link? I love Frazier for addressing this.

The Broadcasting Tandem of Jason Benetti & Steve Stone - Love 'em, like 'em, or leave 'em!
This is great news. Like most good Sox players, Stone gets taken for granted here. He's the best baseball color announcer in the game (name one better) and is one of the rare first class things about our organization. He probably could be a GM if he wanted to take that path earlier in his career. Stone is a blessing.

Sox and Stros 7:10 Central
Horrible loss. No action. Just heartbreak.

How many wins do you expect out of this road trip?
One win max. Probably zero.

How bout using the argument Alonso would have hit better if his brother in law were in Chicago? He'd be happier, more motivated and we'd be winning more. Silly argument? No worse than the one in response to my Avi-fandom. The one that says "If Avi were in Chicago whose to say he'd be doing well?" The Avi watch: .278, 7 HR, 17 RBI, 3 stolen bases. And he's drawn 10 bases on balls. Not awful.

How can they do that? Hahn might as well resign first. You can't cut a 9 million dollar man after 7 weeks. He could always heat up in the summer months of 90 degree and up baseball.

Exactly. Great great post. He's virtually an automatic out unless he whacks it over the fence or off the wall.

Sox and Stros 7:10 Central
Barring Eloy carrying us, we lose all 4. It was fun while it lasted, folks. Houston doesn't lose to teams like the White Sox. I guess it's always possible we win 1 but I'd head to Vegas and bet the house on Stros and over all 4 games.

Toronto (18-26) v. Chicago (21-23) - 5/19/19 - 1:10 PM
These second-tier (right below the elite guys) relievers are so inconsistent for the most part. Soria pitched well for the Sox. Hasn't he been lousy right before and after his short stint with the Sox?

Toronto (18-26) v. Chicago (21-23) - 5/19/19 - 1:10 PM
We can't DFA Alonso. Season is two months old and somebody made the decision to pay him $9 million. I would think even in the Monopoly money world of baseball a $9 million flop could cost somebody his job. No way whoever is responsible for acquiring him will cut him. Cmon.

Toronto (18-26) v. Chicago (21-23) - 5/19/19 - 1:10 PM
Remember Greg's prediction that we have a massive losing streak at some point. Ricky has been winning with mirrors. Our lineup has too many black holes and our pitching staff is flammable. Both offense and pitching have overachieved thus far. Don't know about defense. I think from what I've seen it's been OK. Ricky at this point deserves to keep his job on merit. We shall see as the season progresses.

Toronto (18-25) v. Chicago (20-23) - 5/18/19 - 1:10 PM
Did the rain stop? That's unacceptable if it was cause of field conditions in the year 2019.
