How bout using the argument Alonso would have hit better if his brother in law were in Chicago? He'd be happier, more motivated and we'd be winning more. Silly argument? No worse than the one in response to my Avi-fandom. The one that says "If Avi were in Chicago whose to say he'd be doing well?" The Avi watch: .278, 7 HR, 17 RBI, 3 stolen bases. And he's drawn 10 bases on balls. Not awful.

How can they do that? Hahn might as well resign first. You can't cut a 9 million dollar man after 7 weeks. He could always heat up in the summer months of 90 degree and up baseball.

Exactly. Great great post. He's virtually an automatic out unless he whacks it over the fence or off the wall.
  4. Barring Eloy carrying us, we lose all 4. It was fun while it lasted, folks. Houston doesn't lose to teams like the White Sox. I guess it's always possible we win 1 but I'd head to Vegas and bet the house on Stros and over all 4 games.
  5. These second-tier (right below the elite guys) relievers are so inconsistent for the most part. Soria pitched well for the Sox. Hasn't he been lousy right before and after his short stint with the Sox?
  6. We can't DFA Alonso. Season is two months old and somebody made the decision to pay him $9 million. I would think even in the Monopoly money world of baseball a $9 million flop could cost somebody his job. No way whoever is responsible for acquiring him will cut him. Cmon.
  7. Remember Greg's prediction that we have a massive losing streak at some point. Ricky has been winning with mirrors. Our lineup has too many black holes and our pitching staff is flammable. Both offense and pitching have overachieved thus far. Don't know about defense. I think from what I've seen it's been OK. Ricky at this point deserves to keep his job on merit. We shall see as the season progresses.
  8. Did the rain stop? That's unacceptable if it was cause of field conditions in the year 2019.
  9. I had to go with the Cubs trade. We are being led to believe Eloy and Cease are both truly special. So it's a no brainer. Until proven otherwise, that's by far the best of the trades.
  10. How come this game got called? In Kansas we have had the major downpours for 30 minutes, but then it clears out for a few hours. What happened in Chicago to not wait it out?
  11. Well, Hahn is safe. Now that trade looks great. Giolito is a big league pitcher, folks. He's only 24 years old and he is excelling. So two of our key pieces, Giolito and Lopez, are here via Washington. Sox win that trade big time. If Gio keeps this up, he's an all star.
  12. I wish they gave Avi the 9 million just for grins if it had to go to Alonso. 9 mill for Alonso. I know it's just wasted monopoly money, but give it to somebody who bleeds Sox gray like Abreu or Avi.
  13. Alonso seems like the kind of guy that is not good playing for a bad team. He often "almost" gets a hit. Constantly hits into the shift. Good warning track power. I wonder if any contender needs him for scraps. He's not of value on the South Side. Pay 2/3 his salary and trade him. Thank u.
  14. Yeah, we get blown out at home quite a bit in the tank era. This year we've had some nice wins at home, but still a ton of blowouts.
  15. What's up with the weather shots? Kansas City was 85 today and we're usually almost identical to Chicago. You guys got cold weather?
  16. Time to get to Vegas and make some over bets and parlays. The Twins and the over.
  17. Games like tonight are why I'm convinced we still could lose 8-12 in a row and be back to crap. Sometimes I feel like Ricky deserves manager of the year to date for getting us so close to .500. I guess I should be happy with what the boys have done so far with so much crud on the mound and in the lineup. GO AUTHENTIC FAN! GO BIG HURT!
  18. I'm not odd. I'm even brilliant at times.
  19. I don't want a strike desperately. I'm saying if they were out two years or a full year maybe the networks would demand some needed changes like "no openers allowed; no shifts allowed; severe penalties for tanking; getting the umpires under control to call a strike a strike and not squeeze all pitchers." My disdain for owners who tank has made me not care if they strike and even want the game to implode a year or two because of what it's become. Times have changed since the last strike. There's way more greed and nastiness in America. Everybody wants theirs and nobody's gonna give up one single paycheck. You are right both players and owners will have incentive to keep every stinking dollar. There will be a lot of posturing but no strike. Again, everybody wants every single penny.
  20. I hope they strike for a couple years and totally revamp the game. With all teams worth over 1 billion dollars now, I don't expect the owners to let players strike for long. They will cave as they always do.
  21. Great win! I'm not a Covey guy, but I do like Tilson. Excellent victory in front of a nice enthusiastic crowd. Good hustle tonight. Nice bunt by Cordell. Ricky you apparently know what you are doing after all. You have a fairly lousy roster just two below .500. Granted that can turn to 12 under in a hurry but as FOR NOW you are doing a nice job with crap to work with.
  22. Disagree. It worked thus it's a GREAT call. It's about results! It worked. Ricky take a bow. A-plus move there.
  23. We're gonna win cause greg can't watch the ninth. Have to finish something.
