  1. Hopefully Covey won't be back. Leave him in the minors once he heals.
  2. Awful idea. Abreu is a Sox through and through, hopefully until the end of his career.
  3. I am a fan. I can demand wins and superstars no matter how we get them.
  4. Look, there's no need for a negative word on this site again about Eloy. Did you see that HR? Who knows when, but if he stays healthy he is a certain superstar. Put it on the board and hop on board the Eloy train. Enjoy him. Hahn will be here forever cause he acquired this massive mountain of a human.
  5. Not a bad take, poppy. I would think Cubbies would have to pay most of Hayward's salary. Sox don't want to go there.
  6. I wonder why I "hate" Jay so much. My baseball brain can get bleeped up sometimes. I don't hate McCann (he's obviously having a nice season) or Beef or even Alonso that much. But the idea of watching Jay play makes me figuratively ill. Sorry Mr. Jay. Maybe I should give you a chance. I even like Tilson way more than Jay. p.s. Obviously I am in a very anti Beef mode when Ricky bats him fourth. That obviously is buzzkill through the course of a game.
  7. I'd only play him against Cleveland. He seems to have helped us turn our fortunes around a bit against the Tribe.
  8. He's got a very good shot. Still some more time before that game, though.
  9. I hear you and applaud Gio, but you can't use that stat. W/L means nothing in Moneyball era. I wish it did. I enjoyed those days immensely as I bet Lip Man did. GO SOX! GO GIO! GO COLOME!
  10. He's older than Avi and less productive.
  11. Of course it does. The past couple years all I've been doing is fighting with the rebuild/tank lovers who actively rooted for losses so we could get a better draft pick. It hasn't been as bad this year. There's some new board blood that really likes to win. I Love you new people. p.s. I applaud you Gio and Eloy. Wow. Gio is fricking amazing; ditto Eloy.

    Ken Jennings forever!
  13. Horrible at bats. Sox have lost 3 in a row. Pathetic performance.
  14. Overmatched. Annoying loss. Expected though. We probably should go .500 against the Royals this year considering the rosters.
  15. This is the kind of at bat Moncada has to excel in someday if he wants to be a star.
  16. Good job going with the pitch. Tilson is one of those guys who "probably" is a big leaguer for years if he can stay healthy.
  17. Our guys hit a lot of foul balls. Dull.
  18. Will Beef be out of baseball next season? He's a bad hitter IMO.
  19. You are a wise baseball man, poppy! I endorse your knowledge.
  20. Some folks figure if we can't run away with the division and emerge as a WS favorite it's not even worth competing. I prefer getting in the playoffs any way possible, even at 3 games over .500 and taking my chances. This new era of sports is maddening. I hope the commish has the guts to strip No. 1 picks from teams that are deemed "tanking."
  21. Lopez should work fast. Let his stuff speak for itself. Not be tentative. Send him down to revamp his style.
  22. Speaking for the tank/rebuild people, they don't care about that. Relievers are a dime a dozen, blah blah. We'll pick up somebody in the offseason or just have somebody in our system try to close. The moment we got Colome, the tank/rebuild lovers were dreaming of the day we get to "flip" him and who we get. I think if they told the truth they'd admit they want to flip Abreu as well. I'm a bit surprised there's not a lot of flip salivation regarding McCann.

I really can't remember why I despised him so much. Maybe it has something to do with him sucking in 2009 when we acquired him and we flopped and he flopped. Not sure.

I appreciate what you are saying. However, even without being armed with advanced stats I think it's safe to say if Moncada has a Rios-like career it would be considered a huge disappointment. I guess my dislike of Rios could be criticized as being unfair, especially considering I worship Avi and some point out his value is much less than I think it is. I probably should not hate certain players and like others and should be more efficient in studying the advanced stats and making an opinion off them combined with player age. I probably overemphasize the eye test or at least my eye test. As it currently stands, Moncada rates high on my personal scale of ballplayer; Rios ranks very very low.
  25. Lip man, the Avi I saw busted his ass. I don't remember the comment about being out of shape one year. I do know every offseason we read about guys dropping 10-20 pounds and being in the best shape of their life, etc. It's the cliche offseason story. As a Sox fan I just get confused at the disdain for some players. As surprising as the Sox have been, think how much better our lineup would have been this year with Avi hitting .300 with 11 homers and 28 RBI through 200 at bats? He even has six stolen bases. To tell you the truth, I liked Avi and Davidson for dumb reasons, fan reasons. I watched a lot of games on MLB.com in which Avi and Davidson just CRUSHED the ball. I enjoyed it. I like excitement. Avi provided it for me at least and I tend to stand up for players like that. As far as guys who get hurt, it is disappointing but I tend to blame the training staff as well when it's hammy issues. Figure it out, training staff, help the guys in that regard. Again my reasoning may be b.s., but I liked watching Avi on TV.
