LOL at the White Sox. Five hits. Their record since the Texas choke job is that of a 100 loss team, right? If we play at this pace the rest of the way we'll get a top three draft pick like I said before.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 03:28 AM) I am a lifelong Republican and Clinton family hater. There is zero chance that Hillary is a worse person than Trump. ZERO. ZILCH. I saw incredible comedian Barry Trimmins' show tonight, the guy who will have a special on Louis CK, and he says Hillary is despicable. Also Trump. He really railed on Hillary, however, and also said he wouldn't vote for a Republican EVER for president if somebody held a gun to his head. He said yes you can hate both.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) Ridiculous whining and expressing gloom and doom. We are in the first week of June and in the middle of a dogfight for the division lead and folks want us to fold El Rockin, this team blows. It just does. It had a good month and a week. That's it. You remain the best fan of all time to love them unconditionally. Trust us, though, this is a severely flawed baseball team (no offense, no bullpen, average defense, great starting pitching) with a terrible manager. Not a good combination. I'd suspect we finish about 6-10 below .500. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) Hawk is miserable. It's his own fault only doing road games. Generally the Sox suck on the road and at least go .500 or so at home. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) The next manager of the Sox is Rick Renteria. Just a matter of when. Why Why Why? I don't want that guy! LaRussa or Leyland. My gosh is it so difficult? Gardy would be OK too. -

Does anybody know if Jim Leyland is happy in retirement? Damn it would be cool to bring him in tomorrow. -

Damn our offense sucks. This may sound stupid but maybe we need a team nutritionist or weightlifting specialist. Guys like Rollins were great in ST. Rollins had five home runs. Abreu was RAKING. In the regular season we got off to a good start and now seem so dead. It's like our guys have no energy. When are we gonna have a team that can score some runs and win some blowouts? All our games are close and as of late we lose about 80 percent of them (since Texas meltdown). GIVE ME AN OFFENSE ONE YEAR PLEASE. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) The only post I made on this trade from a White Sox perspective is to note that his fastball is down 2.4 mph from his last year with the Royals and at about the worst level of his career. Maybe there's a reason why. Maybe it's something other than him getting old and that is something that gets better for him as the season goes on? But for the Padres, this is exactly what they should be doing. Save some money, get players who have talent but need work. This could be the best deal ever for the White Sox, he could snap into a great season and lead them to the playoffs, and this would still be the kind of move the Padres should be making. Good post. Of course it's a smart deal for the Padres. Johnson's suckiness with the White Sox is hard to explain. He remains a very very good prospect. Give him 5-6 starts in a row and let's see what happens. I forget if he got several starts in a row last September or not. But I still think Johnson is a prospect. Throw in a 17 year old highly regarded shortstop? The trade totally makes sense for SD. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) I'm not realistic. I genuinely dislike this team. I'm waiting to see them prove me wrong. Here's another shot. I'll be the first to admit I can't stand this team. Major move here from RH, he's now spent a lot of the money he saved on LaRoche. Shields better produce. Cool. I am OK with any negative posts about this team. That's neat you "dislike" the squad. At this point there's a lot to hate. Horrible offense with only one power hitter in Frazier. Ridiculously bad bullpen cept for the closer. And a great starting rotation which never seems to matter. An average defense. Horrid speed on the basepaths. OK maybe not horrid but below average to average.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) That's not even related to his argument but I am sure Balta appreciates you bolstering his argument. You've done him a good service. Everything aside, I've always enjoyed your posting greg. Thanks Rabbit. I'm a zealous fan and I get tired of the losing. I was calm this year til the way the team reacted to the Texas meltdown game. It may have been just coincidence they started to slide, but I sensed mental midget-dom taking over again.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:37 PM) I just want objectivity. Maybe your background doesn't require it, but to be a good, contributing member of a sports forum, you should have a hint of it. Especially someone as intelligent as yourself. You stopped posting objective opinions years ago. Now you nag narratives. It's hard to be objective when the team is everybody's patsy in its own division. Until the Sox reallize you have to beef up the scouting department and do EVERYTHING you can to win division games, it will SUCK. Balta is realistic. The current setup sucks. Horrible manager and horrible owner and owner puppet in KW. Verdict still out on Hahn.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) This is valid but I think Hahn may just being opportunistic here. Even if Shields gets wacked around a bit at the cell, paying him 9M a year to make 32 starts is still worth it here. Can't have enough pitching. I don't even want to think this way, but Shields is 10x more valuable the trade asset that he was with the Padres now that they're paying him. Sox could lose the next 20 games and turn around and trade him for a package better than EJ/Tatis Jr. Man if they do that the next team that gets Shields will get the Sox to pay some money and they'll really be getting him for cheap.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) And this is one of the two reasons I haven't been posting. Because if you're not a fan of this team, its now personal for too many people. Keep posting. Some of us respect you and your posts. Right now this team blows and has allowed a manager to keep managing thru a fireable offense. It's ok to tell it like it is.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) Tatis is 17. Nothing is a certainty with him at this point. Also, for the opt out to make sense, Shields needs to convince someone else to give him >$21 million the next two years. Not going to happen. Cmon Stryker, if he pitches well he'll get a better deal than that in this day and age. Now if he pitches s***ty, of course he'll keep the cash via the current deal. He's a great clubhouse guy obviously coming into a horrible clubhouse environment. Hope James takes over the clubhouse! Prolly won't happen. If Paulie couldn't do it nobody can.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 10:22 PM) Robin is gone Monday if we lose this series right? Guys ... we don't win road series in the Central Division. It's a moral victory to get one win. Until Robin leaves this is the case (cept in September of course when we sometimes sweep a series or two). -
I hope Shields actually is the clubhouse guy everybody says he is. We've heard that before and guys come in our clubhouse and relax, loaf and collect paychecks. Maybe it's for real this time. He did a nice job with the Royals.
-
I will give the Sox credit for trying. Johnson may be a rising star but he blew chunks every time we brought him up for a spot start. I'm sure Tatis will turn into a star like Trayce now, but that's a different topic. I'm sure Jim Leyland would love to try to win a lousy division title with a big three of Sale, Q and Shields with Rodon by all accounts a nice No. 4. Still have one hack at No. 5. But my point is, I may happen to think our everyday lineup is putrid, but we do have "name" everyday players in Melky, Abreu, Lawrie Jackson and a nice prospect in Eaton. My point is ... the blame now shifts to Robin more than the front office. Can't Robin win a measly division title with Sale, Q and Shields for gosh sakes?? p.s. He'll probably opt out after this season if he has any success. If he blows chunks he'll obviously stay.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 05:27 AM) Ditto. And then again at 28. It's not a joke out here and I'm glad both my parents (although divorced) have that kind of compassion. There's a guy I know who is 33 and still lived with his parents. I think his culture is a bit different too. Were they disappointed you moved back in?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) So everyone out to get Trump in the future...since 99% of Americans have "non pure" blood due to migration from another part of the world in their genealogy. "out to get Trump!" And, of course, that other 1% is those pesky Native Americans who are also "out to screw over Trump" on casino deals "hiding behind their political correctness and still expecting handouts from the government because our ancestors made their life a wee bit difficult back in the day." I really think everyone needs to watch that documentary "You've Been Trumped." 83% at rottentomatoes.com. (This is where Greg will state everyone's avoiding reading all the anti-Hillary books and right wing "think tank" mockumentaries on the Clintons that make "COLLAPSE" look like an SNL skit.) The bottom line is the media wants Hilary to win badly and is doing all in its power to make it happen and will continue to do so. Trump is an evil jerk, we all know that. Hillary is just as bad a person, actually probably worse. The choices are stupifying. They are beyond belief. We are voting between Donald Trump and Hillary CLinton?? Thank goodness presidents have very little actual power.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 06:01 PM) The misogyny wont get any play because feminists turn the other way when it suits them. They conveniently ignored all of Bill Clinton's dalliances because he was 'on their side'. There was even one prominent member that said she would get down on her knees and give him a blow job so he could leave interns alone as thanks for helping to keep abortion legal. But if the woman that got egged was a minority and/or a Hillary supporter, wow, 24/7 coverage about how Trump hates the ladies, war on women, yada yada yada. All this virtue signaling by the Trump protesters is going to lead to the secret service shooting someone, and I will laugh at them. They keep trying to outdo the previous protest to show what good little liberals they are. And half of them are outside agitators. Telemundo got caught staging rioters for 'maximum effect'. crickets. Keep protesting him the way you are. Every time you do, you push a few more Republicans who were on the fence about voting for him into the plus column. Great post. The blowjob story was great. You speak the truth.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 11:24 PM) this country is so f***ed up... You got that right. Like in Kansas, the legislature before disbanding for the summer did not attack the issue of funding schools (schools may not be able to open in August cause of funds) but did address the transgender bathroom thing. What a country. It's all P.C. and all bulls***. Very sad state of affairs. So many problems, so many issues. Nobody's making any money but the top 1 percent. Sickening.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Some people here will be staying offline so they aren't annoyed by people remembering Ali. Who cares? They are grouches. Part of life is celebrating those after they die. Ali was one of those guys worthy of honoring and talking about after his passing. How can anybody be "annoyed" by discussing the death of an icon? Part of the problem with this world today. So much "me" worship and no caring about history or paying respects.

Terrible terrible tragedy. Very sad about this and wish the best for all the survivors.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:25 AM) http://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/muhamma...dead-74-n584776 NBC News @NBCNews 6m6 minutes ago BREAKING: Boxing legend Muhammad Ali, 'the greatest of all time,' has died at 74 What a great picture. Classic. Compelling. Priceless.
-
I just LOVE Muhammad Ali and everything about him. I could watch him scream, "I am the greatest of all time!" over and over and over and never tire of it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Ali. I contend he is the most famous sports figure of ALL TIME. Others in the equation: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, maybe Babe Ruth? But Ali ... THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!

Robin concedes a lot of games. Why can't he just go away?? Get us a real manager somewhere? I guess the Mets series made it seem like we had a good team again. People it was one series win in the last seven. Law of averages. p.s. Eaton down to about .250? WTF. He was always over .300.
