  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Stop it. That was not meant to hit him.... My reasoning is sound: Only guy on the Sox who can put a run up on the board. Don't waste any pitches. Hit him on the first pitch.
  2. Fathom called it correctly. The runs may be coming for the Cubs this frame.
  3. I would definitely hit Bryant. That obviously was meant to hit Abreu since he's our only HR threat. HIT A CUB soon, Rodon.
  4. Hahn needs to come up with a new game plan on acquiring players. Melky does not impress me.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Terrible game plan by the hitters today. Every day. Saladino off to a lousy start. I bet that was intentional. Why pitch to Abreu? Only guy who can possibly hurt the Cubs.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Really really really quick weak popout by Garcia. Hitters must feel really dumb when they go for the first pitch and do what Garcia did there. Weak stuff when you swing at the first pitch and don't mash it.
  7. Sox flailing away, not taking many pitches, looking pretty miserable at plate first time through.
  8. Melky off to a bad start in the Cubs-Sox series. Whiff.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 05:05 AM) Greg. You can believe me or not. It's not a guess and it was a piece of insider info I posted back then. His agent brought the offer to the Sox, they couldn't match it and he left. His agent believed going to Ozzie would soften the blow. Anything other than that is lies. The Sox wanted him but also owed Mark to let him go to max money. And that's what he got. They could have trashed him on the lack of working with them on the way out but they didn't. They felt he wanted this money before he retired, because that's what his agent presented. Whatever Mark says now is whatever he was fed. The front office honestly had him in there once and it was very early on. The next time was after he signed. The Sox felt that they owed him too much to guilt him into a huge discount. And that's straight from the top. They love his family and this was the best for everyone. I believe this is one of the first nuggets I even brought here because I personally was depressed they couldn't get it done. I initially was told they made a much lower offer but I'm not even sure it made it to Mark. OK. Thank you for the explanation. I believe you and will drop the matter. I do worship Mark, however.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:31 AM) Seriously. This thread reeks of denial. Great post, southsider. That's what I was hoping I could say in my rebuttals but couldn't think of how to word it correctly. Denial! Southsider hit it out of the park.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:49 AM) Again, what are our options? Davidson. Let's see if he can hit MLB. Or Thompson. Let's see if he can hit MLB pitching.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:44 AM) LaRoche is third on the team in OPS. Who does better? He's hitting .229, 9 homers 33 RBIs. His on base is .336. The 40 walks to 88 strikeouts is pretty good, but he's just not an impactful bat. At his age, I'd suggest he's no more productive than a David DeJesus type ballplayer. People used to get on my man, Jermaine Dye, late in his Sox career. He was never this unproductive a hitter. Like I said, give Davidson his at bats or Thompson. Some minor leaguer. I have nothing against LaRoche except his lousy batting average, how he's failed to be an impact bat. At his age Sox were looking for production before he fell off the map. Looks like a miscalculation by management in thinking he could still smoke the ball.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:04 AM) Melky is surging. If Avi can hit a little and they get something out of the infield other than Jose maybe they can turn it around. I will say this: to be 5 under at this point feels like a miracle and maybe things aren't quite as bad as we thought with 90 losses. Even if they win like 80 that's an improvement. The pythag isn't there by the pitching is pretty damn good. If the offense and defense could just not be league worst bad they could get to .500 IMO. It's weird, cause that one losing stretch for a week and a half that should have gotten Robin fired at the time pretty much ended our season. It takes too much to overcome such a record in that stretch. Like I've been saying we have to have about a 12-game win streak or 22 out of 26 to have an actual shot at playoffs IMO. Sox have to avoid such stretches in the future or it's continued lack of playoffs.
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:34 AM) Greg, who do you replace him with that wins us more games? I would let Davidson get his at bats or the other minor leaguers ready for a trial like Thompson. Even Soto or Kottaris. Anybody.
  15. Any Lahaina, Maui experts out there? Near or on Kaanapali Beach? I need to find a nice house to rent with 3 bedrooms for the thursday before thanksgiving through thanksgiving. Has anybody tried ABandB? Anybody know of a hotel for about 150 a night max that isn't a dump?
  16. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 01:10 AM) The Cards could simply trade him in the offseason. The Cards could, for example, trade him back to the Sox in the offseason. Hopefully the Sox would pass on that offer. Please get rid of LaRoche, White Sox management.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 12:51 AM) Yeah, maybe he should have told his agent that, because thats not how it went down at all. In fact the Sox could have lowballed him and put that in the press to make him look bad, but they didnt. How do you know? Mark B just said how it went down. He never received an offer in midseason ... no offer! He would have stayed. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 01:33 AM) After the season the Sox have had so far isn't there enough to b**** about already? What's the point of whining about something that went down 4 years ago? Here's the severely back loaded contract Buehrle signed. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I'm glad the Sox did not try to match that. Another thing is why, after 4 years, is Buehrle bringing this up now? The Sox didn't have to match that. They could have signed him for much less he says. Buehrle is bringing this up now cause the Trib reprinted a fact that was wrong. He cleared it up. The Trib wrote he had no interest in a Sox offer of 10 mill a year; he pointed out, 'hey there was no f***ing offer.' QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 01:36 AM) The White Sox moved on. We all should too. I'm reacting to the latest news on this issue which came out this week. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 02:12 AM) I don't buy it. Buehrle knew the kind of money he could get, and he went for it. Buehrle doesn't sign for that big of a discount. Just no way. The discount never would have been considered a discount. He wanted to stay in Chicago. I don't know why Mark is the one member of the Sox title team everybody disses. Everybody understood getting rid of him. Maybe it's cause he doesn't throw 100 mph. No, all he does is pitch mega innings every single year and should have been in Chicago the past couple years. For the Sox to not try to sign him during that season is really really bad. For people to not believe Mark would have taken 10 mill a year is insensitive to one of the Sox all time greats. I hope they sign him 10 mill a year for three years when he's free agent next time.

I love comedies that make me laugh. I went to see Spy and I agree with Roeper who gave it a B. I love reading reviews after I see movies. They give away too much stuff in previews and reviews so I try not to watch 'em beforehand. Like at the movie they showed the preview of an upcoming movie with Streep. I swear I know the exact movie and I know how it ends from watching a damn 2 minute preview. Why do they do that? It was a little too long that's why it gets a B instead of A. But some funny one liners and the movie was worth the 8 bucks it costs in Kansas. Get this. Movies here, today 8 bucks to get in. I bought a regular bottle of aquafina and a small popcorn for 11.50 lol. Prices are hilarious but I don't go to a lot of movies and I might as well support the industry. I'd hate if movies went away. The one chick in Spy is pretty hot. She's 35 and hot. She was in Bridesmaids. Incredible body.
  19. Shark is on fire. If you trade him now you get SO MUCH in return if you have a competent front office. The guy is worth his weight in gold IMO.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) If Mark was really willing to take 3/$30, then add that to the list of recent awful decisions made by the Sox front office. I thought Mark was looking for the big payday, so the Sox didn't offer it knowing they would get overbid by other teams. I love how Mark set the record straight telling the Trib writer that, uh, the Sox never made a midseason offer and he'd have taken a 3 year extension in a heartbeat. KW should be fired NOW for this blunder. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) It was time for Buerhls to move on when he did. That's the cliche I've been hearing. Why is this considered fact? Why was it time for him to move on? The guy has been awesome since leaving. He's earned his money. So many Sox have been busts and wasted money.
  21. Very very sad and disappointing. Out of Buehrle's own mouth he WOULD HAVE taken the midseason extension offer. So sad the White Sox let one of their all-time greats go without a midseason offer. He'd have been SO worth the money! And it would have been bargain prices. Typical White Sox. Acquire stiffs like Dunn and LaRoche and Melky and not pay a Mark Buehrle.
  22. Great win. Eaton deserves credit. Walk off home runs are pretty impressive. He's starting to get good again. Avi 4 hits is pretty damn nice. Lexi with the glove. The bullpen shut me up and did the job. Sox have been playing better of late. True, the losses have been maddening, but they've won a lot of gams of late.
  23. Did you guys see the reports that the University of Illinois football coach and women's basketball program allegedly abused players physically and mentally? I'm surprised we don't hear more of this stuff especially with parents of spoiled athletes getting upset when their kids flop in college. I will say I have mixed emotions. Some of these college coaches really do coach by intimidation. What gives them the right to call out kids for the neighborhoods they grew up in? Also I do believe a lot of college kids are mocked/pressured by their coaches to play when injured. There's way too much offseason conditioning and playing football and basketball in the offseasons. Way too much. In the pros ... it's too late for a coach to be an asshole to the players for the most part. I guess in NFL there still could be some pressure to play while injured. But again, some of these college coaches are little dictators and I say if they abuse kids they deserve to lose these lawsuits and get shown the door. Of course, a coach's only defense in college is winning. If you win, the fans will back you 100 percent and claim the players are big babies. If you lose though, look out ...
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) Damn it I missed it. My MLB.com froze up and I missed it too. Weird. It had been working well. I need highlights on mlb.com bad.
  25. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:00 AM) All you guys dissin' Alexei should give him some credit on making that play. Yep. I praise Lexi for that snag. Great play. Sox are winning a lot of games lately. Survived a bad start tonight and still won. Makes up for the loss with Q throwing the gem. Would be nice to win 20 of 25 and get back into the WC race. GO SOX.
