  1. Say what you want about Donald Trump. He's not backing down. Most public figures who make statements that are over-exaggerated in the media and cause boycotts/consternation, etc., simply fade away. Not Trump and one other man, Rush Limbaugh. They survive controversial statements because they fight back. Truthfully, what did Trump say that was so bad? He's against illegal immigrants committing crimes. Limbaugh has said some wild stuff. He's survived, too. I kind of hope Trump is our next president. He has charisma and isn't afraid to say what he thinks. This controversy is overblown. He's right, the people disassociating with him are weak. I love when Trump goes on shows and the host starts denigrading him with follow up questions about his statement on Mexico. Trump fights back forcibly and the host immediate gets uncomfortable thinking, "Hmmm, he's not apologiziing and he's saying some offensive stuff on MY show. What do I do now to get out of this??"
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) ANNUAL HOT STREAK How many catchers can hit nowadays? Not many. I'll take his annual hot streak.
  3. Kill this thread. That article is another fanboy article and the way the rumor started is just some guy seeing Sale pitch well and long for him to be on his beloved Cardinals.
  4. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Haha should have kept the team together. AJ > Flowers Buehrle > Danks We have a good bullpen, but I wouldn't hate having Cotts. And I'll take Uribe over Ramirez, although this very debatable. Buehrle and Uribe should never have departed. They've remained exceptional. Mark is worth every penny he's received since leaving. Uribe is so solid.
  5. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) If we could get Ozzie minus the circus surrounding him with his family posting on Twitter and all of the rest that goes with it I would hire him again in a heartbeat. The truth is he wore out his welcome here and yes, he did quit on the team on his departure leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth. But he is entertaining and like it or not we don't win a championship without him at the helm. Having such a mope for a manager you can appreciate the calls for someone with some zest like Ozzie. Obviously anything would be better than watching an awful baseball team with a manager who appears he'd rather be chilling in California right now so I get it 100% and if it happened at least it would make White Sox baseball entertaining and relevant again. Not everyone's mouth. ... I understand the real world and Ozzie's departure, the way it went down, didn't bother me at all. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) I just hate how everyone is acting like they have a clue as to whether or not RV is even a good or bad manager. We know he isn't great tactically, but you know who is even worse? Mike Matheny, and his team has the best record in baseball. So that tells you how much difference that makes. Beyond tactics, none of us know anything. You're all clamoring to fire RV because you want someone to blame, period. You have NOTHING to suggest that he's responsible for the failure of the team. The guy you're blaming for instilling poor fundamentals is the same guy you praised for instilling great fundamentals like two years ago. If he's fired, it will be a meaningless move that panders to the pitchfork mob. If that satisfies you, whatever, but it doesn't actually have anything to do with the team. This message board should be better than that. Somebody has to take the blame for all the weird losing streaks this team inexplicably goes on. They'll do something positive then immediately play like imbeciles. I think Hahn and KW are to blame more than Robin because we have several guys playing everyday that don't belong in the big leagues or are rotten big leaguers.
  6. QUOTE (CardinalsFan @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Good job White Sox. If a team's pitching is better than ours—hard to achieve—then they've probably got us beat, because offense isn't this team's thing. Thanks. I think what happened these two games is ... baseball. Totally unpredictable cause you have a great team record wise and our team blows. I don't know if anybody noticed but late in the game it was 2-1 and Hawk said something like, "They could easily score and Q gets another no decision." Sox have programmed all Sox fans to expect the worse this year. I think even Hawk was pleasantly surprised we won.
  7. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:17 AM) there are two categories that bad baseball teams fall under category A is a team full of players who aren't any good category B is a team full of average to above average players who are all playing collectively like sh** The Sox are B this is why they can beat the best teams in baseball, but then sh** the bed against awful teams IMO this is clearly a focus/game preparation issue, and that comes down to the coaching staff i dont care that "these guys are adults" or "these guys are professionals" in sports, you need to be motivated beyond the paycheck, otherwise the teams with the best players would always have the best records Nice post, but I'm not positive B is the answer. I think it's A because the Sox everyday players are pretty s***ty. Good starting pitching though. If this team had bad starting pitching it seriously might lose 110 games. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 07:11 AM) That would make for a fun game to watch. Sidenote: Sale was 11 when Mark Buehrle made his major league debut (a game I was at/Maggs had a two HR day incl. a GS. Buehrle mopped up in the 9th for James Baldwin). Buehrle should have no problems shutting down the Sox lineup. Only way he'll struggle is if it's one of those days the Sox are elevating well and they connect for 2 3 or 4 homers in the homer friendly Cell.
  8. Great win. The Sox have had some good wins this season, but the minute you say, "Hmmm, could they get to .500?" then do something wacky like get swept in a 4-game series. I'd expect Baltimore and Toronto will spank the Sox pretty good in the Cell. However, great win tonight. Looked like a big league team. Melky, Eaton, Flowers, 3 of the goats this season had good games to go with Q's masterpiece.
  9. Playing Baltimore and Toronto will not be pretty if I know this team.
  10. Too bad it's not a balanced schedule like the old days. The Sox might be a .500 team if they could play everybody an equal number of times instead of getting owned by the same ol opponents.
  11. Why bring in Carroll? Let the ushers go home, not have to sit through this.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:42 AM) Big difference between backup catcher and ALL STAR. Flowers is under .100 now with bases loaded career wise. he is a backup catcher at best. Yeah, but I still say there's talent in that 29 year old body. Too bad it wasn't tapped properly. Don't know if it's his fault or whose fault. But he has hitting ability. He's probably a mental midget.
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:40 AM) Let's pump the breaks on him hitting 15-20 home runs. We are nearly half way through the season and he has 7 with 2 coming the last 2 nights He hit 15 last year in 442 PA's. This year he has seven in 172 appearances. He still stinks but he's close to being acceptable.
  14. QUOTE (AJUribe @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:02 AM) This seems like a good "building block" series. Long season, royals are on top and l feel they're about to fold. This team and the tribe l think are about to go on a tear. See, you cannot EVER believe in this team. And I "kind of" blame that on Robin. Because this team is so fricking bizarre you just know it's gonna get owned anytime it plays a Central Division team and it'll just drop 5-6 in a row for the hell of it. I'll never believe in this team till it does it for a long, long period of time sadly. Nice to see 'em win, though. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:32 AM) They should still DFA him tonight He's a perfect backup catcher and he might thrive with a better organization/hitting coach, etc. There is ability there. I've seen it. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:34 AM) No! I know it is late but come on. The guy is gonna hit 15-20 homers for the second straight year. That's good numbers, certainly worthy of being a backup at the worst; maybe a starter with proper development. He's hit some majestic bombs as a member of the Sox. His best drive was that one barely foul that one time on the road, I forget the stadium. My god it was deep.
  15. Tyler Flowers! Guys you can mock me, but Tyler Flowers has talent. He must be a headcase or something because he has a beautiful stroke the rare occasions he gets hold of one. Seven homers now. He's gonna hit 15 to 20 bombs again. How come he can't learn to hit .275? He'd be an all star.
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 04:16 AM) Exactly, it's the guys on the roster that's the obvious problem. I just feel bad for the knee-jerk people that need somebody to pay for these atrocious sins of losing baseball. What's up with that attitude? It's the same type of person that actually uses their car horn and gets mad on the road for some weird reason. Impatience is one of the worst traits a man can have, bottom line. It does him no positive service. Rick Hahn and the FO have done a wonderful job transitioning from the 05 swan song tire-fire teams to this new young core. Give it a few more years folks. I wouldn't say they've done a "wonderful" job, but the team has some good starting pitchers and an acceptable closer. Now they just have to build around Abreu and maybe A. Garcia and get rid of all the other everyday players.
  17. Nice hit by Sanchez, but can't Sox find a second baseman who can hit .220 at least? .165 doesn't cut it.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) Quit the martyr act. Post how Robin needs to get fired all you wish, just don't write it is getting tiring. If it really was tiring, the solution is to stop. No one is forcing you to continue with the same theme. Plenty will pick up the slack. Besides, since you are the one saying the team has no talent, all the prospects suck, and the team will suck for years unless they spend $150 million, why would you even care who is managing the team? Personally I feel like I've reached the "I don't care; this team sucks" stage as a Sox fan. I still want the Sox to win every game but now that Paulie is retired there are no ties to 2005 anymore except Coop, KW and Jerry. Damn, is Coop the last guy wearing a uniform from 05? I'd be more fair to Caulfield. I think he realizes this team does indeed suck except for Sale and Abreu and sometimes Q and Robertson and A. Garcia. The rest of the guys blow. I think caulfield wants the team to win; he just realizes it is a pathetic team. And now that we've had 10 years of s***tiness, it does indeed seem like 05 was a fluke. I 'd never have thought that, but it seems like it was a fluke. I wish I could be like Elrockin, but we're gonna need some more Sales and Abreu's. There's NOTHING to hate about those guys; there's a lot to hate about most of the other guys on the roster.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) re.... no matter that, it was against the rules and ozzie flaunt it, and in a round about way, a slap to the fans who supported him. I think everybody can agree Ozzie loves the fans. Isn't he the most gracious about signing autographs and chatting up fans? That Miami thing was overblown only by butthurt message board fans. Most people knew what was really going on. The Sox owner and other powers that be knew Ozzeroo and KW couldn't co-exist. They couldn't even meet and talk during the season. Something had to give and Jerry was ruling in favor of KW as he should have. KW was Ozzie's boss and Ozzie dissed him repeatedly by not agreeing to even speak with his boss. Everybody knew KW was the winner in the feud. That meant Ozzie had to go and you better believe the Sox brass didn't care that Ozzie was getting hired by Miami. It was the last week or two of the season and the Sox were lousy, going nowhere. Miami's moronic owners thought they were getting a coup in Ozzie who would be loved by the Latin people in Florida. That didn't quite work out when Ozzeroo said that s*** about Castro. But I digress. The Sox did not care that the Mouth that Roared was hired by Miami. Yes there was talk Ozzie would be allowed to come back and complete his contract with Chicago, but like I said Kenny won the battle and Miami stealing Ozzie gave the Sox brass great joy. Then they had to make a huge mistake in hiring Robin. Robin wasn't even on anybody's radar, not even in baseball. That was truly stupid. Even Coop would have been a better hire at that point.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:40 AM) I'll take some bad Beckham/Flowers defense so Robertson gets no earned runs and the Sox can still gain a half game on the Phillies. Sorry you are sad tonight while we are HAPPY. The SOX WON!!! Nice clean victory. Tyler with the bomb. Sale and David with the pitching.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:37 AM) It's pretty strange how good the Sox have been in extras this season. Of course, it ain't over yet. I know. It's the one thing the Sox are good at.
  22. Flowers will hit you 15-20 home runs a year. He has six. He'll hit 15 this year again.
  23. That's got to be it for Sale even if he throws a tantrum. 115 or more pitches for a pathetic team. No reason to risk injury.
  24. 110 pitches but you can't take him out. He'd be too pissed.
  25. Poor Sale. His fate is predictable when his team gets him one run.
