  1. Jon Stewart was great on the shooting. He expressed sadness and said America would do nothing about this issue and all similar issues. He said we'll just blame one depraved mind. He said this was a racial issue killing which obviously it was.
  2. The hitting coach should definitely get dumped. I'd pay Big Hurt a million bucks to take over til the end of the season. Then give Gardenhire the managing job if LaRussa doesn't want it. I wish Ozzie would return. Can you imagine what he'd be saying about these players right now? Remember how he used to pull no punches and blast the guys in the press? But back to the point. Yes the hitting coach should be canned pronto.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 04:22 AM) Hahn had a great offseason, this season rest on the players, that's who I blame. You guys are easy graders. Give Hahn a participation trophy as the bums on the field lose 105 games.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Look, I'm as frustrated as anyone with this team. But Rick Hahn did a tremendous job over the offseason of putting this roster together. Yes, he should be taking more action now, and I think we'll see some very soon, but coming into the year, I was pleased with his work. Before the season, the general concerns on this site were -Catcher -Second base -Back of rotation -Bullpen We were right, as these positions have not performed well for us. However, how could you fault Rick Hahn for the performance of proven veterans? Melky's .240 batting average could not have been predicted, given that he has excelled in recent seasons, even post-steroids. Samardzija is coming off a ~3.00 ERA season, Eaton is supposed to be a .300 hitter, Alexei has never hit this poorly in a season, etc. My point is, it seems as if almost everything has gone wrong this year, but it's not Hahn's fault, because our players are severely underperforming. That is out of his control. I don't understand posts like this. You are giving him an A for effort basically, a trophy for trying. Just.Win.Baby. Or It's.The.Results.That.Matter. That's Greg's mantra. Just because Melky and LaRoche have names doesn't mean they'll continue excelling. Paulie suddenly hit the brick wall and couldn't play the game anymore. It takes a special touch from a GM to acquire guys with stuff left in the tank. LaRoche and Melky got little left. It's results that matter. He put together a 100 loss team again, worst team in the American League by far.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 04:09 AM) I saw the Ventura postgame comments. Was fine to me. He answered the questions asked. Nobody kept asking. He left. You may disagree with what he said, but he was professional after the game. Why did he leave, though. Normally they give the media a chance to get warmed up.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) Was Ozzie booed like that at home near the end of the 2011 season? Sad state of affairs. Feel bad for Sale and Ventura. Never. I think the fans who went to the ballpark actually got a kick out of Ozzie all the way to the end. Ozzie had the kind of personality almost everybody loved. He's the last of the "celebrity" managers. Going to a game and seeing Ozzie was seeing a celebrity. I was hoping he'd be our manager 30 years but he had the war with KW and that was that. Jerry actually chose the wrong guy, KW over Ozzeroo. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:47 AM) I was on the fence about Hahn earlier on, but if the only way the rest of everybody gets fired is to include Hahn, so be it. bring in a baseball consultant and hire a new GM. The whole department of baseball operations is garbage. Forget the consultant. No consultants please. Consulants are part of what has ruined American businesses and killed working wages, etc. Consultants are pure EVIL IMO. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:47 AM) Well Robin answered questions for 30 seconds. Said it wasnt a tough decision to pull Sale. Said blown saves happen and walked away. Get this f***ing guy out of here. He's gone. By walking away from the media, the manager is basically saying, "f*** it. None of this matters in the big scheme of things anyway." He won't discuss his moves, won't discuss anything. He's given up. Tonight's postgame proves it.
  7. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:44 AM) Amidst the carnage, beyond the wailing and gnashing of teeth, the one thing that truly, like, TRULY baffles me is how Buddy Bell still has a job. I think the organization thinks Bell is a true genius, which is far from the truth. His work sickens me.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:42 AM) Hey I was waiting for you! You wanna repeat that whole thing about Robertson being best closer in baseball? He got lit up tonight. He's blown four saves. Funny how I used to get ripped for loving Bobby Jenks and I bet at this stage of all his seasons he didn't have four blown saves. Back to your point ... I still think Robertson is sensational, but I guess I could be mistaken. Maybe he's turned into the pitching equivalent of Melky.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:40 AM) Yeah, fire Robin, fire Steverson, fire Hahn and buy out JR. Let Kenny walk to Toronto, and put Buddy Bell on a boat to China. You might see some changes, or you might not. Buddy Bell will be the interim manager, you wait. And that will be a very very bad thing.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 03:39 AM) Firing Robin isn't going to cure this team's ills. But when they are ready to identify a good manager I'm all for Robin retiring, of course. I hate signs like that. Classless fan. I mean you think Robin Ventura is to blame for this mess? True he's not meant to be a manager, but it's the fault of these lousy players, not Robin. Again, I want Robin gone, but I also want many many players gone.
  11. Melky's the kind of baseball player who could get a GM fired. He's so bad it's truly laughable.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 03:10 AM) Enough of basketball talk, we need to sell tomorrow. Season ended today, we would have the 7th pick overall Hey you ain't seen nothing yet. Seventh pick today. This team may lose between 100-105 games. That should be good for the first pick or second.
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) I don't care about his beliefs. I don't care about the "bigger picture" because there is none, except in people's twisted minds looking for an agenda or wanting to fit it into one. There is evil in this world. If shooting people as they prayed in their own church isn't evil, then let's just pack it all in. Ignore him and whatever nonsense he will spew. Don't give him the satisfaction. Focus on the victims, focus on those left behind. All I want to hear about this guy is he's be found guilty and then when he's put to death. I finally agree with Alpha Dog. You know I know he deserves a fair trial and all that mularkey. But when we know a guy did it (there is NO DOUBT this guy is the killer, none) like the Colorado movie theatre piece of s*** and this guy ... I mean I just want him executed ASAP. I hate that his name now is known throughout the world forever. I hate that the networks will all do long pieces on this piece of s***. We'll soon know more about his life than Chris Sale's and Corey Crawford's. I just want him to leave this earth pronto. This motherf***er went into a church and killed all those people who just wanted to worship in a community of fellowship. Again ... our country has an epidemic of this kind of thing and it truly is sickening. We're so used to it people talk about it like its common place on talk shows and message boards like I'm doing. The reality is 9 more people got blown off the face of the earth by some punk asshole. Now this punk is famous. I know we need to know and have the right to know but it sickens me. It also sickens me that many of you now are going to post stuff telling me basically to go stifle that he has rights, etc. We're so used to this crap in America, a once great country. Nobody can say America is truly great anymore, not with all of these madmen killing people and currently plotting similar atrocious acts!
  14. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 05:14 AM) Dump Robertson. Dump LaRoche. Dump Shark (hopefully his value raises by the deadline...) Hopefully Melky can somehow go on a hot streak and not be f***ing garbage still at the deadline. spend big on July 2nd prospects. This team needs a couple years of growth. Hopefully one of Fulmer or Adams can contribute in two years. Anderson will be ready by then. Just firesale and hope for the best in two years. Not sure what else to do. I've been advocating dumping all these guys for weeks. Time keeps tick, tick, ticking ...
  15. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 06:14 AM) this team was going through the motions back in april they were never prepared to be successful this year Very true. It was just a continuation of last season's bad baseball. 99 losses or more again this year. Prospects for future look bleak as well. Yikes.
  16. Three hits. Almost everybody thought the hitting would be better this year. But it's beyond pathetic. I wonder how long the Sox will be a last place team, how many years. We're used to the Blackhawks glory years? I think starting last year we're entering a long period of White Sox dregs years. This team has no outstanding talent in the minors besides pitchers and maybe Anderson, who everybody says is a wretched fielder. What are the Sox gonna do?? Woe is us.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:01 AM) It's funny that you direct your angst with the guy who is leading the team in on-base percentage. Obviously he's not the only hitter I despise. He just happened to make an out in the ninth that made me blow my top.
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:10 AM) It's not good to have the pitching coach have that much power IMO. One thing about Ozzie, and f*** Ozzie for how he went out, but he sure as hell let everyone know who was in charge. In many ways, he did take a lot of the blame off the players when things were going poorly. Thing was, Ozzie only has that one ace in his pocket when the team is scuffling to play. RV has zero from what I can tell, he doesn't make enough noise in the media to really send a message imo. I loved/worshiped Ozzie and told you guys you'd miss him. My only complain on Ozzeroo late in his tenure was the Sunday lineup thing. Also the Sox were becoming the dysfunctional team we are now. We'd never sweep anybody and had a few 1-9 type road trips and were starting to lose games in awful ways. But I always respected his knowledge of the game and his style. The best thing woulda been for Ozzie to take a year off to re-generate (I realize that never happens) and then return for a second stint with the Sox after a year off.
  19. You guys that despise Danks slay me. He's not that bad a pitcher.
  20. My problem with the Sox hitters and LaRoche is again that was a winnable game. We need a baserunner in the ninth to make something happen and you've got totally crap at bats. I called them selfish. I don't know what else they are. Pete Rose would have killed Lexi and LaRoche for their miserable at bats if he was manager. I guess it's modern baseball to do what you do and in LaRoche's case not adjust at all and hit it right into the shift in short right field. Drives me crazy, though. What's wrong with getting on base?
  21. Very surprised at all the Jackson love. He had MJ, folks. You know how hard it is to win the Stanley Cup?
  22. I misfired on the Cavs pick, but some of you had to be thinking I was spot on when the Cavs took the lead and were in the ballgame at the half. Those who took GS in six were genuises.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:04 PM) Mlb would never let the sox move out of chicago. It's not something to worry about. Why would MLB care? Vegas is still an option. What about Memphis or New Orleans. Or somewhere in Canada? Or even Mexico? QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) How many of the star power owners would move the team in a second to seal a larger profit margin. That's what I was thinking. I think the Sox very easily could move when Jerry dies. It would be sad, though, to only have the Cubs. But if the Sox continue to suck as long as it appears they are going to suck, this team will have trouble drawing 15,000 a game. If this is another 99 loss season, it's really going to be dismal next year. One more 99 loss season after this one might spell crowds like the early 70s again. 2-3,000 a night. It gets that bad and you can bet they'll move when Jerry dies.
  24. I get so mad when we're down one run and LaRoche hits right into the shift and Lexi pops up to end the game. I mean that is so selfish. Other teams have the Sox perfectly scouted and the Sox are one of the easiest teams in baseball to mow down. The Sox as we all know do not draw walks and get themselves out all the time. Sox have no chance with the way they approach each at bat. Sox still can only win when they bash home runs and the problem is the team hits precious few home runs now.
  25. Hate to say this but the Sox blew it last offseason by being loyal. When Maddon was available, it was time to put Robin in the TV booth with Hawk and Stoney; three man booth. Or 3 man radio booth. Or give him some job til his contract runs out. Loyalty is great, but when a star manager becomes available and your manager is Robin, you have to bid bye bye to Robin. Can't blame Hahn for trying with all the trades, but now it's time to trade the guys he acquired. Should be do-able.
