  1. Why won't LaRoche shave that ridiculous beard? Jerry used to have the facial hair rule.
  2. Sox are a one-to-1.5 trick pony. Good starting pitching plus one reliever. That's it. Every other aspect of the team blows.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) Alexei can't hit anything. 90-92 mph fastballs and he can't get around on them anymore. Maybe he should back up in the box finally He's also using way too big a bat like Soriano used to. BTW, what is the Sox motivation for keeping Sanchez in the majors? Do they actually think he someday will hit enough to be a big leaguer? Can't believe there's not somebody in the organization ready to take his at bats.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) All of baseball sucks at bunting. That's why you can have all these dramatic shifts leaving the whole left side open. Back in the day hitters choked up , could chop the ball the other way didn't K as much. Baseball was more team oriented. Now hardly anyone chokes up or alters their approach based on situation. Won't move their hands in different spots on the bat or their feet in the batters box. It's all swing from the heals gripping the bottom of the bat. Pitchers and defense have gotten smarter and better . Hitters have not and will not . That's why so many teams have trouble scoring. Great post. Hitters don't care so they trot up to the plate with their .245 batting averages and .280 OBPs. LaRoche's batting stance and approach sickens me. Gillaspie is just not a big leaguer; that's his problem. Flowers is a once a week player who runs into a home run now and again playing every day. LaRoche is what he is ... a lousy DH. Melky is ridiculously bad when he's not on steroids.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) I think that given the choice between LaRoche working on bunting every day to get the skill down and taking BP and working on trying to hit HR, he's probably going to choose the latter most of the time. Come in earlier and work on bunting in the indoor cages. When are the Sox going to stop signing NL sluggers like Dunn/LaRoche. Sign some guys who can actually hit.
  6. Even when this team is on a four-game winning streak it looks lethargic. Maybe it's the dead atmosphere in the stands. Bring back old Comiskey Park.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) There's your LaRoche bunt attempt. Most Little Leaguers can bunt better than LaRoche and Gillaspie. Why not work on it a little bit more and learn how to bunt to beat the shift? Can Vince Coleman teach them how to bunt?
  8. Melky, LaRoche, Garcia up this inning ... on paper this was supposed to be a can't miss, productive threesome. We're in July. The weather is warm. These 3 make pretty good money. Time to tie the score.
  9. That was a bad, boring half inning. Eaton's hit should have scored at least one run if they hadn't tried the ill-advised steal. If the Sox want to play small ball they need to get some faster players. Lexi is too old to be running on anything but a hit and run.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) Stolen bases a huge issue on this team. No reason to run when you can't steal bases. Sox should have scored this inning by now. Can they score anyway?
  11. I'm surprised Sox haven't been no hit a few times with a bottom three of Lexi, Flowers and Sanchez, three automatic outs for the most part.
  12. Sad we can't steal second on a low breaking ball in the dirt.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) They just brought the wrong guy in. Putman gives up HRs but he gets Ks too...use him in a real jam - runner on 3rd less than 2 outs. They also waste a spot with Carroll instead of trying some guys from AAA and see if they can become a real contributor. I wanted Ventura to pull Shark after the 7th. Some of you dislike Danks; I dislike Putnam. it's just the way life is. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah Putnam gives up too many HRs but his pitches do not scream "hit me". He's something like 5th in K% among all pitchers in the MLB this year. He's been nasty most of the time, unfortunately he's given up a few untimely bombs. He seems like just another arm to me. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) I was at the game and we were commenting he reacted like a Little Leaguer would have reacted, and how awesome that was. It was an unreal catch. I keep watching the replay. Just unreal. I loved his reaction. He has TWTW obviously. He was fired up. I think Abreu has TWTW too. Good to see from two potential stars.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) He still shows that ability and last night was proof. But, he has other good games too. That's what I'm talking about. With all the lousy pitching in baseball today (can you say Joe Blanton, Jeremy Guthrie just in our division alone) Danks is OK. He's had some good games and people want to ignore those I guess because of his salary. Who cares about his salary? It seems like whenever the Sox sign a guy, he's not worth what he's getting (Melky, LaRoche, Eaton, Danks, the list goes on). QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Although John Danks is awful, he pitched a great game last night. That's called a non-sequitir. How can he be awful and pitch a great game in the major leagues? I realize he's been trash in many starts, but he's also had some great starts the last 2 years.
  15. Great catch by Avi. Love seeing all the smiles.
  16. Great hit by Shuck. Sox playing some baseball.
  17. One game you leave in Shark too long. Boom, bye 4-0 lead. Next time you bring in a reliever ... boom, tie game. Can't win for losing. Some folks on this board over-valued Putnam and Petricka that is for sure. They are just bodies. Sometimes they are OK; most of the time their pitches scream "hit me."
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) Greg, I also admire Danks' grit. He goes out and battles with everything he's got. Sadly, ever since that shoulder injury it's just not as much. It's like watching PK the last two years. You admire the man, but injuries rob them of their ability to perform to the best of their abilities. Sometimes he can reach deep into the reservoir and pull out a great start tonight, but he just can't sustain it. He might be perfect as a lefty out of the pen. One that's getting paid a lot, but it's a role he could succeed in on a night-in-night-out basis. Nice post. It's the first one praising Danks some.
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 07:20 AM) the flaw in your logic is that even terrible pitchers have good starts. even against elite teams doesn't mean they aren't terrible Did Danks kick your guys' dogs? What did he do to deserve this wrath? Who cares if he makes a lot of money? It's not your money. The guy had a serious injury and has done all he can to come back from it. He actually pitches with a purpose. I mean there are Sox players I despise but I don't see any reason to hate Danks. There are so many other players on the team worse than Danks at what they do it's ridiculous. He's had some great performances the last 2 years coming off an injury.
  20. Brownback is trying to get a religious exemption passed in Kansas. How come nobody nationally is noticing and giving Kansas s*** like Indiana when they had similar zealousness? Brownback isn't even trying to hide it. He's against gay marriage and trying to add a religious exemption.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 06:08 AM) He has been one of the worst qualified starters in all of baseball this year. That was one of our best starts all year. Can't you guys watch John Danks pitch and see SOMETHING that is very very good? I said he's sucked on occasion. He's also pitched very very well. And he battles. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 06:14 AM) Lol greg. Really? http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P Look at those numbers. Are you going to say "I told you so?" You can't watch him pitch and see ability and competitiveness? He's got talent and check his starts. He's had some good ones the last two seasons. Some excellent outings! To not give him credit is flat out wrong. I didn't say he was Sandy Koufax. He's a great No. 4 or 5 starter, though.
  22. One thing about Robin. He has nine lives. If he can get this team back to .500 he'll be beloved again.
  23. I hardly ever say "I told you so" on here. But I have to in regards to Danks. I told you guys Danks is NOT trash. I said he's had some stellar outings to go with the pathetic ones. I told you I like the way he battles. Danks is not an excellent pitcher but he's not worthy of the hate spewed on this board. He's just not. Danks has had some good outings the past 2 seasons. He simply HAS. Great win again. Well the Sox are trying to play with our emotions and tell us they actually have a decent team. I'm not going to believe yet, just wait and see and enjoy the wins. Please please please though, give MR DANKS some credit!!!! It is deserved.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) and Jim Carrey flipped the f*** out over it I don't see why celebs are against vaccinations. Isn't it medically proven people NEED them?
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Trump is an idiot and a brings a bad name to republicans everywhere. I kind of like him. This latest flap is stupid and overblown. He's against a swarm of immigrants entering the country illegally. Obviously he doesn't think they ALL commit crimes like rape. It's just more of America today ... piling on and acting all offended. But like I said, Trump is making everybody uncomfortable by NOT BACKING DOWN. Put him on your talk show and beware. He'll fight back and maybe your show will get boycotted depending on your (host) reaction.
