Rosenbloom on the Sox
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) Greg has every right to misinformed and have this no fault affinity about ozzie, just like everyone is about anything else. ozzie should not have been looking for a job while in the employment of the sox. ozzie should not have let his son run rampant as he did against the sox ozzie should not have taken and kind of recourse for his son not getting drafted. this was the beginning of the domino effect that lead to open hostility within the ranks of the management team, that made the final out come even worse than it should have. Not a bad take at all. As far as your first point on Ozzie, everybody knew he was gone. Nobody minded him "looking for a job" if that means accepting phone calls from those nutjobs in Miami. The Sox were grateful at that point Miami "stole" him. Good point about his son. Looking back I agree the son had to stifle. That was stupid and Ozzie did allow him to make a fool of himself. Dad had to tell kid to shut the f*** up. I agree now. And about son not getting drafted, I do agree there now as well. Ozzie's kids should have shut the f*** up. Ozzie had a good job and high paying job and his kids needed to respect dad by staying out of it. Kenny also probly should not have drafted his own kid. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) LOL. Nope I'm afraid not. Thanks. Glad to see some support!

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) NO matter where you are on the Ventura firing, that reads like a fan boy wrote it. I should have read that on a fan site, not a newspaper. Awful. Very true, southsider. That was an embarrassing opinion piece. Awful. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) First of all, I'm not answering a ****ing survey question to read that column. Why do newspapers not seem to understand how the internet works in 2015? Never mind, I think I know the answer. EDIT: Clicked the link again and I didn't have to take a survey. Whatever. That column's only function was to throw raw meat to the dogs. Second, if you are calling for the White Sox to hire Ozzie, you are not thinking critically about the team. It is a lazy and stupid suggestion. Newspapers are dead. Give them a break trying to stay afloat. It's not a lazy suggestion. It was just written like a fanboy like southsider said. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 04:07 PM) Do you think the Sox could get Ozzie on the agreement that... - This is an interim job. No more, no less. You are helping the Sox try and save some face this year, while showing the rest of MLB Baseball that you are ready/capable to manage again. So you, Ozzie, are showcasing your talents for the rest of the league to see. We will be hiring a full time manager, after the season going forward. Yes, but I forgot Miami is still paying him. So forget it. He won't do it unless Sox pay him handsomely. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) omfg you people are clamoring for the return of Ozzie Guillen? Yes! I feel vindicated. You must admit greg is Ozzie's biggest supporter on Soxtalk! I want Ozzie! QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) Ozzie as interim would be awesome. Grab some much needed headlines and attention to a terrible team. If we are going "in-house" I'd definitely prefer him to the other candidates for the full time job as well. Ideally we don't go down that path. Yes, it would be an awesome summer suddenly. But no way they'll bring back Ozzie. This is why he got canned in the first place. His mouth.

Rosenbloom on the Sox
QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Greg is a troll, right? I'm a longtime Ozzie supporter. I never stopped supporting him. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) Greg do you forget Ozzie's bad years? Yes but remember I blame KW as much or more than Ozzie. I conceded that Kenny won the war over Ozzie. Jerry sided with Ken.

Multiple Victims in Charleston SC Church Shooting
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) 5 African American churches in the South have been set ablaze in apparent arsons in the last week. What evil person would burn down a church? What a world. ... Maybe the racist nuts of the world will burn down hospitals if it's deemed they employ too many African American doctors n nurses.

Supreme Court to Decide Whether Gays Nationwide Can Marry
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) This was a great result from a supreme court decision that was eventually going to happen. Unfortunately, in over half the states in the United States, I can still be fired, not hired, or not be allowed to buy or rent a house or apartment because I'm gay. Frankly, I wasn't as worried about being married as I was about having my ability to remain employed protected for being the person that I am. Is that true? You can be fired for being gay? Isn't it like age discrimination? If you can PROVE you were fired for being gay, don't you win a huge huge lawsuit??

Sick of hearing...
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 01:51 AM) Catchers make good managers. You teed it up there for me. I LOVE AJP and I think he'd be worth a shot as manager if we have to go the former Sox player route.

Rosenbloom on the Sox
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) This could have been written 6 weeks ago and been somewhat topical. The season is over in 14 weeks. That will be the end of Robin Ventura's managerial career. Fire him now? Wait til the end of the season and let him resign on his own? Who cares. There's no way he managing next season. Pretty good post. Flavum, save this post. I think this is how it'll play out, sir! QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) I wanted Sandy Alomar Jr when Robin was hired and I still do. The guy has been in baseball his whole life and I feel that former catchers have a higher rate of success as managers. It might be Alomar time, actually. Beware, however, Tony Pena sucked as KC skipper! QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) The Chicago Sun-Times is calling for the return of Ozzie Guillen OMG! Don't tease me. The return of Ozzie would be immortal. OK, think of it. Robin quits tomorrow. Oz is interim. What would it hurt??? See how he behaves the remainder of a lost lost season. If he shuts his mouth and is a modern day manager, five year extension, baby!!! I love Ozzie and this plan would hurt nobody. This team has long been out of it. I repeat .... WHAT WOULD IT HURT? At the least it could resurrect the career of a guy who deserves to be in baseball?

Sox @ St. Louis
Should be a fun series. What happens when an (on paper) great team (Cards) plays an (on paper) horrific team (White Sox)? Is it like the Houston series where we somehow win? Or is it like a normal series where we play just well enough to lose on some nights and get blown out others with the only common denominator the loss?

Quickest fix for a return to postseason?
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:39 AM) Might not be as crazy as it sounds. Last 10 games when Milky and Eaton have been hitting well they've started to score more runs. Had they nit coughed up 2 games late they very easily could have won 6 of their last 8. If Avi gets it going again along with those 2 the offense will look even better. I'm totally unconvinced. Our last loss to Detroit describes this team perfectly. Up 4-0 in the eighth, Detroit wakes up and simply scores 5 before making six measly outs and we lose ... again. This team in its current form blows. Even if hitting got a little better, then some other aspect would fall apart. Time to blow it up. Need whole new coaching staff next season and tons of new players.

Rosenbloom on the Sox
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) Doesn't lay blame on Ventura. If I'm Ventura, I’m making them go through infield and outfield pregame drills like Little League teams. I don’t care if players feel embarrassed. They ought to be embarrassed by their Little League-like play fielding and throwing. They ought to have enough pride to fix it. Note to Samardzija - want to get paid like an ace, act like one. I don't know if this is done or do players try to improve on their own instead of going through the motions. I remember in 2005, when Rowand wasn't hitting he would go to the batting cages in the morning. If they fired Ventura they might get maybe a week of improvement that may be about it. I read a comment someone mentioned a culture of losing. That supports my theory they always get too many guys from losing organizations. Say what you want about my idol, Ozzie. Can you imagine if his team was playing like this?? He'd be all over these guys in the press and in their faces in the dugout. Talk about entertainment! He'd take them to task.

Avisail Garcia is Fool's Gold
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) Mr. greg775, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. Dunt. There are reasons for Avi to third base. 1.) We have no third baseman. 2.) I don't want to see Gillaspie or Beckham bat ever again. 3.) Avi looks like a third baseman. He just does. 4.) Again, this team is so far out of first place it matters not what they do the rest of the year. This team blows. 5.) What if he's good?? It's not like he's an uncoordinated ox. He just can't play the outfield. Why not try it for 30-60 games?? Thank u for your time.
-
Avisail Garcia is Fool's Gold
This might sound very dumb, but I've come up with a solution I believe! Put Avi at third base the rest of the year. It really doesn't matter how many games we lose. If we could get him to be a decent third baseman, his offense is acceptable for third basemen nowadays. What do you say? Avi at third base?

Treatment of People Under Anaesthesia
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) Like everything else, there is good medical care and there is bad medical care. This means good MDs, bad MDs, good nurses , bad nurses, etc. As far as the pain meds go, narcotics are often ordered prn (as needed), as scheduling them is more prone to complication. Like most medical errors, it seems like poor communication lead to this mixup as the patient didn't know he could ask for some In regards to the anesthesia part, the recent story is certainly an extreme example. To answer your question of do patients get mocked while under? I can't say I have t seen it. It's nothing like this story, but I've witnessed smaller things. For example, when positioning an obese patient prior to surgery, I've seen some make comments regarding their weight, ie "God this guy weighs a ton" things like that. Nothing too harmful, but probably not something you'd say if the patient was conscious. In general, I don't feel there is any abuse or malpractice In the things I've seen. To answer your question regarding if doctors and nurses give their best efforts, I can truly say that during a procedure, I have never thought that the one performing the procedure was giving it anythin less than their best. Simply, too much is at stake. Now post-op care, answering patient questions, clinic visits, etc - yes plenty of people give less than what they should Thanks for your reply. This is educational for me. I don't understand why post-op care is so shabby. Like in the case of my friend. His son told me they wanted him out of the hospital after 2 days. My friend with the bypass was in no condition to be dragged home like a beached whale. The surgeon assistant said, "the doctor thinks he can go home." My friend's son said, "I am willing to speak with him. Tell him to come by. My dad isn't ready to go home." The surgeon assistant backed off and said, "Well he can stay another day." Why this blatant disregard for patients? We need to treat human beings with more dignity than this when they are in their most vulnerable states!

Avisail Garcia is Fool's Gold
I wish Avi would develop consistent home run power. He's hit some bombs. Looks like he's the same as all the modern hitters. He's got to become more selective and when he gets a hitters count ... bam! Right now he's kind of a mess at the plate and a horror in the field.

Cardinals interested in LaRoche?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) For once there isn't a rush...we've got a couple weeks and who knows, some other team might have a 1b go down with an injury. Mid-July is ok to wait for. Teams need Shark now. We can get more for these stiffs now than down the line. The season is tick, tick, ticking away.

Cardinals interested in LaRoche?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Perhaps the single most important thing this franchise needs to accept this offseason is this one. Yes, they are. They are absolutely this bad. They have a run differential that is worse than the Brewers. They have 2 people in their lineup who would start for a decent team right now and 1 of those is a DH who they ought to trade. They have a strong 1-2-3 in their rotation but one of those guys is a free agent at the end of this year. They have youth to replace the back end but turning youth into production can take time. They haven't cared at all about defense in scouting players so even if somehow the players started hitting more as they got older, they still wouldn't be able to catch or field the ball and would need a top of the league offense to offset that. They are absolutely this bad. They are actually probably worse than their current record. If they don't accept that, if they don't act as if that's true, then they will remain absolutely this bad next year and for years to come. Balta is right. I absolutely cannot understand why, if the Cardinals want LaRoche, he hasn't been traded yet. Get rid of him. NOW. And trade off Lexi, Melky, Shark for starters after LaRoche! Let's get on with the restocking!

Supreme Court to Decide Whether Gays Nationwide Can Marry
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 11:15 PM) Because marriages are rewarded by the tax code as an incentive for building a stable family as to raise children who will grow up in an environment that makes them productive which fosters the idea they will do the same. Whether that actually happens is another question. Not to mention this countries aversion to sex unless in commercials and movies, and the high ground morals everyone in positions of power pretend to have, which of course explains our disproportionately high divorce rate... I think I covered everything but I'm on my phone right now. No offense, but some people think two members of the same sex having sex is immoral as well. The moral thing shouldn't matter. I'm in favor of gay marriage and polygamy. Why not? The tax thing is weak argument IMO. If a guy wants to have 4 wives, why not if the wives agree? If a woman wants 6 husbands, why not if the dudes agree?

Sick of hearing...
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 06:54 AM) Stop with the bulls*** reasons to fire RV, there's only one reason to fire him and that's because you can't fire 25 players. If he was making one ridiculous substitution after another, or running into outs with his stupid calls from the dugout or if guys were constantly out of position on defense then yes, by all means, the manager is leading to losses. But these guys are playing like horseshiit and that's why they're losing and that's why we want the manager fired. He's the boss. He's as close as we can get to firing some or all of the players. Motivation my ass. If you need to get motivated to play professional sports you're in the wrong career. And ask yourself something: would Gillaspie, Flowers, Sanchez and Ramirez be STARTING on a winning team right now? Not likely. That's about half your lineup. I'd throw LaRoche in there if he hadn't finally started to heat up. And you might wonder whether or not Avi would be starting in RF on a winning team. Fire Robin, don't fire Robin, who gives a s***. All it is is red meat to the fans and a complete "Who, me?" by management. How about firing Buddy Bell who has nothing down in the minors that's developed into MLB talent that can help right now? That'd be a nice start. And I'd take a long look at Doug Laumann too. Over 2 decades heading up scouting for the White Sox. Like what you see? That's a very good post. It should give all Robin haters something to think about if they read it. Robin is a little below average I feel, but like I've said a million times nobody could win with this collection of defensive misfits/lousy hitting/bad bullpenning stiffs. I agree with you for the most part. I do agree Buddy Bell should be canned even before Robin.

6/28 at Detroit Tigers
That win might again wake up the Tigers. Just as the Sox wake up the Indians and Twins. What a disgusting baseball team. How could anybody in their right mind pay to go to a Sox game the rest of the season? I'd puke handing over the money for parking or a 10 dollar burger at this point.

6/28 at Detroit Tigers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) It took some real skill, some real determination to lose this ballgame. You have to be impressed by this one. They stared a win straight in the face and said "We will NOT." Great post. Love it. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) This bullpen is a f***ing joke. Even if RV pulled the Shark, we probably still lose. I think you're right. Miggy would have stroked one off the wall.

6/28 at Detroit Tigers
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) At least they won't have any false beliefs this team can turn it around this year. They are going to end up 20 games behind the Royals. More than 20. This team will lose more than 99 games.
-
6/28 at Detroit Tigers
So much for the myth Putnam is some elite reliever. As far as the game, LOL. Sox are so bad Detroit lays dormant down 4-0 and simply scores five in the last two innings to put away the Central Division patsy team. If the Sox were down 4-0 late, what would be the odds of winning. 99-1? Horrid season. Sox ruined our summers again.

6/28 at Detroit Tigers
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) Jeff is not an ace. Like I said only a few pitchers should stay in with a scenario like that. It doesn't matter if they don't want to be taken out, that is why we have a manager Do you agree at least Shark is one of those guys that doesn't want to come out? Managers tend to leave in the ace of their own staffs sometimes cause they get all mad if yanked. That said, don't you agree Shark deserved to stay in til he hit the batter? That's when he shoulda got yanked. HOWEVER, Miggy was up next. Shark deserved to face him. Then he strikes out Miggy and he looks dominant again. So what do you do?? Boom ... lefty hits it to the wall. I don't like Robin but I can see the problem today in making the call.
-
6/28 at Detroit Tigers
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) Only we would keep a starter in who loads the bases in the 8th inning with 0 outs. There only are a few pitchers I would keep in for a situation like that and Jeff is not one of them I felt after he hit the batter he should be removed. Leave him in til he gives up a run. Though he did come back and whiff Miggy after that I believe. Hard call with these aces. Guys like Shark, Verlander, Sale don't like to be taken out. They are ornery about it.
-
6/28 at Detroit Tigers
It's hard to go through the lineup 3-4 times in MLB. I don't blame Shark. It's not easy nowadays baby. Did you see the item where some teams are removing their starters after 80 or so pitches just so he doesn't go through a lineup 3 times?
