QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) I don't think Davidson will hit over .200, but if he can play good defense and hit 16-20 homers in a season, I think I would take that at 3b over the current platoon. Me too. Might as well give him six weeks. At least it would be interesting. If he hits like Sanchez after five, six weeks ... next!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 01:31 AM) This team is playing bad enough that people will lose their job. Hahn needs to be accountable for some of these holes he left coming into this season. I don't necessarily think he should be fired, but he needs to shake things up. I think you guys are right, who are saying there will be firings. Somebody else said there's too many games like this, which I would agree with. Too much bizarre baseball. With the Blackhawks winning it all again and fans about ready to ignore the White Sox all summer (is it officially summer, yet?) they might as well fire Robin, Coop and Steverson. However, that would cause a coach shortage throughout the system, or worse ... I could see it now. Buddy Bell would be named interim manager (and you damn well know if the team played .500 the rest of the year he'd get the job next year, ugh!). But like you all have said, this team is so pathetic some heads have to roll.

11-0? Oh well, at least we drew one base on balls. This team remains a laughingstock. I have no idea how it gets hot and every once in a while sweeps a Houston or somebody else. If I wanted to use a cliche, I could say these guys have quit. One walk tonight? Lots of quality at bats I see. Pathetic. Thank goodness for the Blackhawks. Thanks to that great team nobody gives a s*** about that pathetic 11-0 loss and four-game losing streak. This team has stunk ever since Eaton decided to be a little whiny jerk over his benching.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) You are right... I mean why even hire managers or have them in the hall of fame. They have no point. I just think this is real life and the Sox made a classy real-life decision to let the skipper off the entire weekend rather than hustling back all the way across the country for the final game of the series. Also, we now know Parent doesn't have the right stuff immediately causing a very minor incident with a player.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) What's your obsession with Christian Colon? Also, you basically want them to trade everyone they acquired this offseason. Why would you then trust them to make a good trade if you believe a lot of the new additions were bad choices? Well, I believe Colon is a natural hitter. My desire to trade everybody the Sox acquired is do-over mode. I feel like this time Hahn might really get some good young Kris Bryant-like talent for the guys I mentioned. Notice I still want the rotation of Sale, Q, Rodon, Danks which is still the foundation. Give Hahn a chance to try again by dealing the guys I mentioned and Sox might be in business. Hahn is not a dummy. Give him another chance and he succeeds IMO! He has the pieces (big names) to work with.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Great hire by Iowa St. Him, or Mike White, was the coach I wanted if GT canned Gregory. He plays a very exciting style. Can the Murray State coach recruit? Fred always had at least one star recruiter on his staff and ISU frankly needs the type of transfers Fred landed. Some coaches don't know how to land transfers or don't want them cause they end up on the police blotter. Will Prohm recruit well or be another McDermott?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Hockey is deplorable. But one win away from 3 titles in 6 years is beyond impressive. You're talking the *barf* premier franchise in team sports right now. Why is hockey deplorable? Were you joking? I think it's pretty exciting, at least playoff hockey. Question time for the experts ... -- If Chicago wins, what are the chances of rioting? I say pretty slim. -- What's all this talk of this being the Hawks' last chance at a title? Why do they have to lose key guys? Salary cap again or ? -- Technically speaking, what does TB have to do to win this one? Hawk overconfidence and grab an early 2-0 lead after one? Are Hawks so experienced they know it's time to go for blood and win this baby, 6-1? How confident is everybody the Hawks wrap it up on home ice?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) You and your healthy Thunder. That team showed nothing at all to show that this was the year they put it together. They wouldn't have been able to beat memphis or clips, let alone the Warriors. The Thunder certainly don't have "it" whatever that is. They haven't been the same since losing James Harden. I realize they had a ton of injuries. I tell you, Thibs would have been the perfect coach for that team or maybe Van Gundy. Hiring Billy Donovan is a head scratcher. Hope he's ready to deal with Westbrook, who seems to me to be a real prima donna. As far as the Cavs ... this is why successful college coaches should never consider the NBA. Blatt is getting fried by the media and will probably be fired if the Cavs lose in the Finals. Just because they have LeBron. They are conveniently forgetting Kyrie got hurt and Kevin Love as well. ... Blatt is known in the media and by fans only as the clown who wanted to call a time out when he had none but was SAVED by the great Lue. Kerr is not exactly getting credit, either. NBA coaches are all buffoons in the playoffs as far as the media portrayal of them. Only one coach is acceptable each season, the one who wins it all. The rest get ripped to shreds in the press and with fans and are lucky if they get to keep their jobs. Yes I still think Cleveland is going to win the series.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) On the other hand, I'd say, if the White Sox management truly believes this team is underachieving, they should trade for Cole Hamels tomorrow. Gosh, NO! No Cole Hamels ... ever! QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) Can't make moves based on the 15K fans who show up at games. If the White Sox could trade Quintana, Sale and Abreu, and get back 4-5 top 25 minor league prospects, plus 2-3 others in the top 100, is that enough? Turn into the Cubs pretty much for 3 years, and have a crazy minor league system. I wouldn't trade Sale or Abreu. Why can't Sox do what I've been advocating for a month? Trade everybody not named Sale, Abreu, Avisail? Or at least trade Melky, Shark, Robertson, Lexi, LaRoche, Duke. I guarantee you Hahn could get a ton of players for these guys. Get the right players and we might have something to look forward to next year. I think the Royals actually might take Melky after the Rios fiasco. We get Colon in a deal for Melky and Beckham or Soto and maybe we're off and running.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) You can say whatever the F*** you want... but when we win 3 in a row and then the manager takes 3 games off and we lose them all. It doesn't look good... makes the white sox look like a joke... Am I saying it would have mattered if Robin was here? Nah I'm not making that conclusion But boy does it look bad now. I will say whatever the bleep I want since you said I could. We still would have gotten swept had Robin been at the helm. At least we know Parent is a clown as well. Sox had their first controversy of the season with him in charge, Eaton meeting with him after getting benched. The manager didn't take three games off, by the way. He got a paid leave of absence approved by the GM and owner to go to his daughter's graduation. You ought to get over it. It had no effect on the series. Tampa is way better than Chicago, especially at home. Our team simply is lousy. Hanging around .500 truly has been a miracle. Eventually (I 'm not sure when) this team will fall 10, 15 below .500 and that's where it will stay, probably finishing the season 10-15 under unless it puts together some crazy win streak once they are officially eliminated. Start the firesale, baby! But seriously this topic should never have started. Robin had no effect on those games, geez. It doesn't make the Sox look like a joke as you suggested BTW. The Sox did the right thing letting him off instead of enduring those 3 losses. GO SOX!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) No chance now. They had to win game 4. Now they're forced to winning another game in GS. The Cavs will win Game Five. LeBron is better than a lot of people think. Cleveland finally wins a championship this year its first in any major sport since 1964.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) Since 2009, in games 4 - 7, the Blackhawks are 41-14. TBL has a TON of pressure on them for game 5. Why? Because the BH have been here before. They don't get too up when they win nor too down when they lose. A young, inexperienced in the SCF team can easily let the pressure get to them. Of course, it hasn't happened so far, but the 'hawks haven't played their best hockey yet. IMHO, I think the Lightning have come closer to playing the best they can than the Blackhawks...and it's still tied at 2. Plus, I don't worry until G6. Great post. Great win. I love Crawford. He gets very little credit from some fans who have backup quarterback syndrome, but damn, he stopped a few shots that easily could have tied that game. Kudos Crawford and everybody else. Had just enough offense the last two games with 2-1 wins thanks to Crawford in large part. If Hawks win this series, back to back 2-1 wins are pretty special. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) It's already increased. Can't get in the door for less than 1000 I predict nobody will pay 1000 bucks. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) Maybe let's stop planning the parade yet. Great point. This thing is far from over. Have the Hawks lost home games in the playoffs? Yes. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 04:11 AM) Fans are allowed to look ahead, the players aren't and that's all that matters. That's true.

I got fooled by Gordon's hot start. I thought he'd found himself. At least he's now considered good glove/no hit. His glove is pretty OK.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Phegley also batting over .300 Anytime the A's want your players you need to reassess your opinion of such players. Obviously Semien and Phegs were good if Oakland wanted 'em. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 01:33 AM) With how much our best trade piece has struggled there is genuinely no reason to rush this one. Worst case scenario we're still at the bottom of the division mid-July and players are still as worthless as they look now. No way that's worse than where we stand right now. Maybe Samardzija has a non-awful month and some idiot is more willing to take a chance on him in late July than they would be right now. He's already been so bad he's a sunk cost, anything we get back for him is just barely compensation at this point. Balta is right, I know that, but I'd still like to get rid of Shark ASAP. Some NL team might take him off our hands. Just get a top catcher prospect and an infielder and call it a day.

Yet another "racial" confrontation with police, this time in
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
Good link. I especially like this line in the story. ... "A short video of officers in McKinney, Texas, shows us the avoidable results of an unnecessarily aggressive approach to policing. But in the same video, we can see a few seconds of policing the way the way it should be done." -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Yeah, sure. He trusts a guy as his bench coach who doesn't even have the sense to pinch hit Soto OR Boni vs. LHRP, instead staying with Flowers and Sanchez (who while being a switch "hitter" ostensibly, has never hit lefties well) What does that say about the staff and their strategies? LOL at wanting Boni and/or Soto to pinch hit. Both guys are not big league caliber players.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 2h2 hours ago View translation #WhiteSox for 6/13: Shuck 8, Ramirez 6, Abreu DH, LaRoche 3, Garcia 9, Cabrera 7, Beckham 5, Sanchez 4, Soto 2. Samardzija vs. Archer. Eaton out of the line up again, and he's wasn't happy. And I agree with him. He should constantly be in the line up. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 4m4 minutes ago Eaton out of the lineup today. Had a rather spirited closed door discussion with Mark Parent after the fact. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 4m4 minutes ago Parent said during his media session that he's fine with a player being upset when he's not playing. They want guys who want to be there Eaton needs a break. This will be good for him. He probably should be benched by Robin, not Parent though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/teacher-fir...1365623792.html Two teachers have now been fired for supporting the police officer and/or denigrating African-American kids. People never learn about how to filter themselves at facebook and twitter. Good point, caulfield. How dumb to go on Facebook and make racist comments. I mean were they just begging to get fired. That one teacher said she almost was in favor of segregation to keep them on their side of town. Geezus. Are people raised to be that fricking ignorant? -
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 02:46 AM) I didn't attend my own college graduation... because I just started a new job and didn't want to miss. I didn't want to stick around my out of state school an extra week to attend graduation, but figured it was something I should do or I'd regret it forever. I stayed and was bored that week waiting for graduation and indeed thought graduation was very boring. I did convince my parents not to make the 500 mile drive and they reluctantly agreed to not come. I probably should have let them come because I'm now convinced graduations are more for parents than the graduates. And mine paid for education so it would have been a way for me to thank them. At any rate, it was very boring. Robin will be bored but proud to support his daughter. Nice of the Sox to let him skip three meaningless games to honor his flesh and blood.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Jen Lada @JenLada 2m2 minutes ago Hahn: as we sit here today our hope continues to be we're in a position to add & have reinforcements come to contribute for a champ'ship run I used to approve of statements like this in never giving up on the season, only to see the team stink in August and September. I've learned when you have a sub-par team, that's a ridiculous stance to take. You just know this team is going to stagger in September again and you know it's not good enough to make the playoffs. Hahn has to know this. At the very least he should be planning a trade of Shark to start the ball rolling, and getting ready to finalize it.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 01:51 AM) Hope that is the case, but do not be shocked If it is the status quo at Catcher in 2016. There's no way. They'll go with two new catchers next year even if it's somebody else's third catcher. Soto and Flowers have to be gone. -

greg775 replied to Condor13's topic in 2015 Season in Review
That's the kind of game the Sox play to make sure they stay firmly below .500. Not a very good game. Pitching not so good; hitting better than normal but still sucky enough to lose.
