  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:55 AM) He's awful, nothing more needs to be said He's not "awful." I'll list some awful pitchers. He's not one of them. Fathom I'm surprised you don't respect the guy for battling out there. His stuff is NOT trash. A lot of pitchers are trash. His stuff on occasion is better than average. He competes like HELL out there. I'll say it again. He's the LEAST of this team's problems and if everybody competed as he did the Sox might be in second place instead of the embarrassment of the AL.
  2. Say what you want about Danks ... He's the LEAST of this lousy team's problems. I for one respect the guy coming back from injury. He's an OK pitcher in my book. The eye test tells me he competes. I don't give a s*** what stats say about Danks.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Exactly. Just read a story about a dog that was in a shelter for 10 years and a guy decided to adopt it. As long as the dog is calm, that's what I'll do when I lose mine, which probably isn't for another 10 years. It makes me so sad that dog was in the shelter 10 years. Is there any way he/she had a good life? I'm not saying shelters are bad. Just curious as I love dogs and despise people who do ugly s*** to animals.
  4. The Blackhawks are a breath of fresh air. Two or three superstars which is awesome and a formula for success. Very good goalie, or at least a goalie who must be ultra competitive cause he's always awesome in the playoffs. A very good coach. And some very good supporting cast members who contribute here and there. I'm only a playoff hockey fan (only follow scores and standings during regular season) and a fan of all Chicago teams except the Cubs (I can't bring myself to accept a Cubs title) but the Blackhawks took us casual playoff fans on a great ride through each round again this postseason.
  5. Bob, I liked your post a lot. My counter is the Sox have very bad hitters on the team and horrible defenders. There's not much Robin can do about that. But I do agree he doesn't have "it" and thus should be shown the door after the season. Unless somebody besides Buddy Bell takes over. Then I'd fire him now.
  6. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 02:59 AM) I agree. There is so much wrong that "making an example of someone" isn't going to accomplish squat. They need a new manager and coaching staff and a boatload of new players. Get it started Hahn because fans are getting disinterested by the droves. I like your phrase "boatload of new players." That is the flat-out truth! QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) It was said after the 0-4 start and remains . This team was not ready to start the season and remains behind in simple fundamentals. The hitting approach is that of a little league team, swing at the first close pitch. Hawk in the first game of the season told us Vince Coleman was going to make a difference....no person in America is worse at their job than Vince Coleman. This organization needs to be rebuilt from the top down. Rick Hahn is not the answer. All the glaring weaknesses were there to be seen four games into the season when Tommy Millone aced the sox that day. It has just stayed the same. This team is fundamentally terrible and stupid.....from the top down. Ventura should have been after yesterday, nobody would have known or cared. This is a great post and should be read on all the talk shows and emailed to Reinsdorf. Why? Cause all this stuff is true. The problem with firing Robin now is I'm convinced Buddy Bell would be interim. I'd rather have Robin, seriously. Look, this team is on track to losing more than 100 games. Start trading players ASAP and see what you've got after it all shakes out.
  7. Four hits and a whopping two bases on balls. This is one of the worst hitting teams in Sox history, modern Sox history, since the mound was raised.
  8. Bet the house. Cavs are going to win tonight and win the Series. LeBron is motivated. LeBron is insanely motivated. Only way GS wins is if the West truly is destined to beat the weaker East every year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) Mike Ditka doesn't deserve to be on that list. He won one title with a team that had the talent level of the blackhawks. He had the NFL's all time best runner, plus one of the best ever MiLB's and multiple other HOF's. To only go to one Super Bowl with that is sad. Sure he belongs on the list. He won a ring. Chicago has had precious few rings. Halas only won one in a ton of seasons as coach.
  10. Hmmm, did you see Hillary is playing the "woman card?" She at her last stop in Iowa stressed it's important she is the first woman to be President. Sign of her being worried a tad bit? She's going for every woman's vote in America with this stance.
  11. I think it has to be Quenneville. Ditka was too stubborn and dictatorial though the 85 Bears team was amazing. Jackson was astounding but he had M.J. Q has three rings. Papa Bear?
  12. Great game. Great series. Such a decisive Game Six win. Threw a shutout at them. Two gorgeous goals. Great crowd. Thank u Blackhawks! True champions.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) Do you see any other way to turn around the worst offense/defense in baseball without trading away pitching? It's certainly not going out and signing Upton, Heyward and Alex Gordon. Caulfield, I think you and some others underplay what our current underachievers can bring on the market. I happen to believe the do-over I've suggested will work and Sox can get a bushel full of players for LaRoche, Shark, Robertson, Duke, Lexi and Melky. These guys are sucking now but still have baseball left in them in the NL. We can re-build the roster quickly and efficiently IMO!

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) I was doing my best impression of a typical SoxTalk poster after someone has a bad game. Honestly, he's struggling right now (like everyone else on the team), but as BigHurt said, he's been one of the lone bright spots on offense. Most of us Soxtalk veteran posters haven't always been like this. Speaking for myself and maybe others (?) we're beat down with lousy play and more apt to make outrageous negative statements. For myself, all the 05 guys are gone now so there's nobody to stick up for. I have no emotional tie to any of these stiffs, except of course Sale and Abreu who deserve my utmost respect.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 11:47 PM) I don't think Davidson will hit over .200, but if he can play good defense and hit 16-20 homers in a season, I think I would take that at 3b over the current platoon. Me too. Might as well give him six weeks. At least it would be interesting. If he hits like Sanchez after five, six weeks ... next!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 01:31 AM) This team is playing bad enough that people will lose their job. Hahn needs to be accountable for some of these holes he left coming into this season. I don't necessarily think he should be fired, but he needs to shake things up. I think you guys are right, who are saying there will be firings. Somebody else said there's too many games like this, which I would agree with. Too much bizarre baseball. With the Blackhawks winning it all again and fans about ready to ignore the White Sox all summer (is it officially summer, yet?) they might as well fire Robin, Coop and Steverson. However, that would cause a coach shortage throughout the system, or worse ... I could see it now. Buddy Bell would be named interim manager (and you damn well know if the team played .500 the rest of the year he'd get the job next year, ugh!). But like you all have said, this team is so pathetic some heads have to roll.
  17. 11-0? Oh well, at least we drew one base on balls. This team remains a laughingstock. I have no idea how it gets hot and every once in a while sweeps a Houston or somebody else. If I wanted to use a cliche, I could say these guys have quit. One walk tonight? Lots of quality at bats I see. Pathetic. Thank goodness for the Blackhawks. Thanks to that great team nobody gives a s*** about that pathetic 11-0 loss and four-game losing streak. This team has stunk ever since Eaton decided to be a little whiny jerk over his benching.
  18. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) You are right... I mean why even hire managers or have them in the hall of fame. They have no point. I just think this is real life and the Sox made a classy real-life decision to let the skipper off the entire weekend rather than hustling back all the way across the country for the final game of the series. Also, we now know Parent doesn't have the right stuff immediately causing a very minor incident with a player.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) What's your obsession with Christian Colon? Also, you basically want them to trade everyone they acquired this offseason. Why would you then trust them to make a good trade if you believe a lot of the new additions were bad choices? Well, I believe Colon is a natural hitter. My desire to trade everybody the Sox acquired is do-over mode. I feel like this time Hahn might really get some good young Kris Bryant-like talent for the guys I mentioned. Notice I still want the rotation of Sale, Q, Rodon, Danks which is still the foundation. Give Hahn a chance to try again by dealing the guys I mentioned and Sox might be in business. Hahn is not a dummy. Give him another chance and he succeeds IMO! He has the pieces (big names) to work with.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Great hire by Iowa St. Him, or Mike White, was the coach I wanted if GT canned Gregory. He plays a very exciting style. Can the Murray State coach recruit? Fred always had at least one star recruiter on his staff and ISU frankly needs the type of transfers Fred landed. Some coaches don't know how to land transfers or don't want them cause they end up on the police blotter. Will Prohm recruit well or be another McDermott?
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Hockey is deplorable. But one win away from 3 titles in 6 years is beyond impressive. You're talking the *barf* premier franchise in team sports right now. Why is hockey deplorable? Were you joking? I think it's pretty exciting, at least playoff hockey. Question time for the experts ... -- If Chicago wins, what are the chances of rioting? I say pretty slim. -- What's all this talk of this being the Hawks' last chance at a title? Why do they have to lose key guys? Salary cap again or ? -- Technically speaking, what does TB have to do to win this one? Hawk overconfidence and grab an early 2-0 lead after one? Are Hawks so experienced they know it's time to go for blood and win this baby, 6-1? How confident is everybody the Hawks wrap it up on home ice?
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) You and your healthy Thunder. That team showed nothing at all to show that this was the year they put it together. They wouldn't have been able to beat memphis or clips, let alone the Warriors. The Thunder certainly don't have "it" whatever that is. They haven't been the same since losing James Harden. I realize they had a ton of injuries. I tell you, Thibs would have been the perfect coach for that team or maybe Van Gundy. Hiring Billy Donovan is a head scratcher. Hope he's ready to deal with Westbrook, who seems to me to be a real prima donna. As far as the Cavs ... this is why successful college coaches should never consider the NBA. Blatt is getting fried by the media and will probably be fired if the Cavs lose in the Finals. Just because they have LeBron. They are conveniently forgetting Kyrie got hurt and Kevin Love as well. ... Blatt is known in the media and by fans only as the clown who wanted to call a time out when he had none but was SAVED by the great Lue. Kerr is not exactly getting credit, either. NBA coaches are all buffoons in the playoffs as far as the media portrayal of them. Only one coach is acceptable each season, the one who wins it all. The rest get ripped to shreds in the press and with fans and are lucky if they get to keep their jobs. Yes I still think Cleveland is going to win the series.
  23. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) On the other hand, I'd say, if the White Sox management truly believes this team is underachieving, they should trade for Cole Hamels tomorrow. Gosh, NO! No Cole Hamels ... ever! QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) Can't make moves based on the 15K fans who show up at games. If the White Sox could trade Quintana, Sale and Abreu, and get back 4-5 top 25 minor league prospects, plus 2-3 others in the top 100, is that enough? Turn into the Cubs pretty much for 3 years, and have a crazy minor league system. I wouldn't trade Sale or Abreu. Why can't Sox do what I've been advocating for a month? Trade everybody not named Sale, Abreu, Avisail? Or at least trade Melky, Shark, Robertson, Lexi, LaRoche, Duke. I guarantee you Hahn could get a ton of players for these guys. Get the right players and we might have something to look forward to next year. I think the Royals actually might take Melky after the Rios fiasco. We get Colon in a deal for Melky and Beckham or Soto and maybe we're off and running.
  24. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) You can say whatever the F*** you want... but when we win 3 in a row and then the manager takes 3 games off and we lose them all. It doesn't look good... makes the white sox look like a joke... Am I saying it would have mattered if Robin was here? Nah I'm not making that conclusion But boy does it look bad now. I will say whatever the bleep I want since you said I could. We still would have gotten swept had Robin been at the helm. At least we know Parent is a clown as well. Sox had their first controversy of the season with him in charge, Eaton meeting with him after getting benched. The manager didn't take three games off, by the way. He got a paid leave of absence approved by the GM and owner to go to his daughter's graduation. You ought to get over it. It had no effect on the series. Tampa is way better than Chicago, especially at home. Our team simply is lousy. Hanging around .500 truly has been a miracle. Eventually (I 'm not sure when) this team will fall 10, 15 below .500 and that's where it will stay, probably finishing the season 10-15 under unless it puts together some crazy win streak once they are officially eliminated. Start the firesale, baby! But seriously this topic should never have started. Robin had no effect on those games, geez. It doesn't make the Sox look like a joke as you suggested BTW. The Sox did the right thing letting him off instead of enduring those 3 losses. GO SOX!
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) No chance now. They had to win game 4. Now they're forced to winning another game in GS. The Cavs will win Game Five. LeBron is better than a lot of people think. Cleveland finally wins a championship this year its first in any major sport since 1964.
