  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) The 2nd wild card is going to help the Sox so much this trading deadline. 20 or so odd teams are gonna think they are in it and with the pitching FA market not looking so hot either the Sox should be able to squeeze at least a couple B level prospects out of someone for Shark. Nothing that's going to help right away most likely but that will be a solid return. Why aim so damn low? B prospects? Shark has been NASTY. Get three studs for him!!
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) So no "What have you done for me lately?" managing of this organization by JR? That's strange. I mean, ask Kenny and Rick yourself, and they'll gush about Reinsdorf's "competitive spirit" - you know, that same spirit that compelled him to go above and beyond this winter to sign the Great Melky Cabrera. The two of them couldn't shut up about it at the time of the signing. However, if JR is as competitive as those two say, then your assertion that Williams stays as long as he wants, results be damned, cannot be true. He should be demanding and expecting better results than he's been receiving for quite some time now. If he is content with that one championship and therefore prioritizes his loyalty to those who brought him that one championship, then yes, your assertion is most definitely true. Great post. I know it's off topic but I was against the Melky signing from the beginning. Cheater in the past who would be a utility player at best if not for the cheating years. I wish they'd clean house. Everybody but me thought firing Ozzie would do wonders. That did nothing because a lot of bad baseball people remain aboard.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 04:50 AM) Greg, not a movie, but have you seen season one of True Detective? No, thanks for the suggestion.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) There does seem to be something about the Clintons that really brings out the worst in journalists. I think everyone knew that Bill was a philanderer from the get-go, which probably led to such intense interest, and the Lewinsky relationship just sealed the deal. The Republican surge after his election led to all kinds of other pseudo-scandals as well, which showed there was lots of public interest in shaking the Clinton tree to see what falls out. I disagree. Hillary has the journos in her hip pocket. Their only coverage of Republican candidates is trying to get them to blast each other publicly, i.e. the Trump thing. Guys ... Trump is sort of a chump, but he wasn't trying to say all Mexicans are bad. I like the fact Cruz wouldn't bite. He said, "all the media wants us to do is blast each other; I won't go there." If Trump was a Demo there'd be no coverage of this; it'd remain all Hillary all the time. I hope you guys are ready for eight years of Hilly; she's a lock to win. Hope she leads the country back on track.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 12:01 AM) Saw a few reviews from people that saw it at Sundance, they say he steals the scenes he is in. Excited to see it, have a hunch it's going to be one of those classic comedies of the last 15 years (40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, ect) I think it looks promising, as well.

Guys I have the week off. What movies should I order off amazon.com or anywhere else on the internet? No movies are coming to mind. I'd prefer comedies but I'll take other good movies I'm forgetting. I searched tonight and nothing screamed "Order me." I was going to order Horrible Bosses II but it looked dumb. I was gonna order Dumb and Dumber Too but it looked dumb. And I was gonna order Hangover II or III and they looked lousy. I loved all 3 originals. I've already seen Anchorman II. Went to see Ted 2 today. Wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. Have to agree with Roeper. Some good lines that made me laugh out loud, don't get me wrong, but not that good. Thinking about going to see the movie Spy tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Every terrible White Sox season since 2005, the team still gives us something to be proud of as fans... and something to remember. 2007: Buehrle's first no-hitter, Bobby Jenks' scoreless streak, Jim Thome's 500th homer. 2008: Carlos Quentin's MVP-caliber season, Alexei's Grand Slam, The Blackout Game, a playoff run. 2009: Mark Buehrle's perfect game and scoreless streak, Gordon Beckham's ROY-caliber season. 2010: 11-game winning streak, almost kind of pretended to be a contender. 2011: Adios, Ozzie! 2012: Phil Humber's perfect game, surprisingly competitive season until a September swoon. 2013: The road to Rodon! 2014: Jose Abreu's amazing MVP-caliber season. 2015: Chris Sale's record-setting Cy Young season. What else am I missing?? This is all off of the top of my head. The point being, despite the terrible season results and lack of playoff appearances, the White Sox still give us something to remember as fans - and even in the face of disappointment, give us something as baseball fans. Some of these are pretty weak. 2011? That's no great highlight. 2013: The road to Rodon? That's nothing special either. Yes there have been some good moments. A devil's advocate would say in a long long season there will be highlights.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) Do you see gregs name at the top of that post with the stats? I didn't look up or print those stats in the post, but they were incredible. I congratulate you for such a great post!! Stat filled and excellent!
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) i don't see nothing wrong in what KW said or saying. as the old cliche says, "the buck stops here". Or the old cliche "where there's smoke there's fire?" That said, Hahn knew what he was getting into. I can't imaging he'd be dumb enough to do anything but suck up to Kenny after the problems Ken and Oz had together. Jerry has made it clear who the winner is in any feud: KW in a landslide.
  10. Are the Sox getting good? Are they going to get me to believe? Can they win 15 out of 20 and make a little noise?
  11. It's only 9:05 p.m., lol. The masters on the mound.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:00 AM) However Sale is only at 98 pitches so I agree with their decision to leave him in Great decision to leave him in, but there was no decision to make. Sale is too good to take out.
  13. Sox take advantage of the Toronto error. That was nice. Little surprised they were playing so deep on the bloop single even if it was Jose at the plate.
  14. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) Yet we let him walk and are paying Danks 80% of what Buehrle is making. Uggghhhh Mark was worth the price of two people: An all-star pitcher and a coach on the field. His excellence rubbed off on the other pitchers. He was worth every single penny and still is.
  15. Buehrle against the White Sox lineup is like Bob Gibson in his prime against a Little League team. No sweat for Mark.
  16. Buehrle is so good it's scary. He's unbelievable.
  17. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:51 AM) Who should be held accountable in your opinion? Unfortunately KW and Hahn. They brought these lousy players to town. Those stats are amazing and appalling. I don't know how we've won 33 percent of our games. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 05:05 AM) It's a managers job to get the most out of their employees, regardless of industry. True, but no hitter wants to stink. So I would assume the hitters are trying and just don't have the ability which falls on KW and Hahn. For instance the Melky signing was totally avoidable. That's just money flushed away. The Robertson signing was great. But again, the LaRoche money was flushed down the drain. And Soto and Boni ... the list goes on. I like Hahn when I hear him speak so I'm willing to give him a do-over. I wish he'd pull the trigger and start trading like mad.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:36 AM) Things this team is really bad atamong AL teams only Extra base hits : Last with 181, next team has 209 HR's : 2nd worst KC has 1 less. Runs scored : Worst Hits : 2nd worst Doubles : worst Total Bases : Last over 70 bases behind the next worst team. RBI: 2nd worst OBP : 2nd worst Slugging : Worst OPS : Worst Taking a walk : 2nd worst Stolen bases 2nd worst Stolen base percent : Tied for last Shutting an opponent out : 2nd worst Batting average against 2nd worst BAA for relief pitchers : worst OBP allowed: tied for last Caught stealing percentage (pitching stat not our runners ) last WHIP: tied for 2nd worse Relief pitching WHIP : worst OBP among relief pitchers : worst IBB allowed : 1st which means they give up the most IBB These are just general stats for pitching and hitting . As you can see the offense is putrid . The team and relief WHIPs are bad but other stats for the pitching in general isn't terrible. The relief pitching at home has been good but terrible on the road. Unfortunately its hard statistically to blame the defense too much looking at traditional stats like errors and fielding % unless you delve into more sabre related stats which ESPN doesn't use. Then I am sure that the Sox DRS is pretty bad though I haven't checked. Thank you for the stats. I now believe Robin SHOULD not be fired. This team has overachieved (win wise) big time considering how rotten it is.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 04:17 AM) How have we won as many games as we have is beyond me, its a miracle. You lollygag to first, you lollygag in the outfield. You know what that makes you, LOLLYGAGGERS. Edit: sorry I thought we were doing movie quotes. I agree. I think the Sox have overachieved big time this season. They should be 20 under .500 at the break the way they've played. I guess it shows the value of starting pitching. Sox starting pitching is simply amazing; rest of the team's game is historically bad.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 01:29 AM) Last time I saw Davidson he had 5 o'clock shadow. You wouldn't be a fan of him. On to the next... Don't u agree LaRoche looks rather dumb and shaggy with his beard? It's not like he's had the success of a Chicago Blackhawk. I don't respect the beard.
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 02:33 AM) Listen, I am generally just as optimistic as you are but , my friend ,this season is ova ! They are more then just one good bat away. They are at least 2 good bats from having a shot at a still bottom half offense and what about the defense and who do we trade to get those bats ? It's just spinning your wheels . I hate this feeling that we're still in the wild card race. There are way too many teams ahead of the Sox. The Sox have outstanding starting pitching, but that really means nothing when all other aspects of the team are horrible. You got to have a bullpen nowadays and we have no pen. You must have defense nowadays and our is the worst. And this lineup is one of the worst in modern Sox history (not an exaggeration). Way too many holes. Mediocre pitchers dominate us because there are way too many easy outs. Look at today's bottom three hitters. They probably coudn't hit .300 if it was T-ball. And the guys who hit into the shifts, Laroche and Conor couldn't start for any other team in the AL. This is not a playoff team. So please trade Shark. That's all I ask; start the parade of trades.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 12:45 AM) Davidson is hitting in the .230's in AAA. What do you figure that translates to in the majors??? Recently he has been cutting down on his SO but has not hit any homers. Last I saw it looked like his defense was better. He is still a AAA level player but maybe by September he will get another shot. When a player is struggling, being promoted to the majors can really be a problem. Sanchez is a good example. He was really hot in AAA then went into a slump and they called him up in the middle of a slump. Here's what I think. When the Sox bring in guys via trade or promotion from the minors, they never hit a lick. So let's try the reverse psychology thing with Davidson. He is supposed to be in the bigs by now. Bring him up and see what happens. Maybe he'll be the exception and inexplicably get hot right out of the gate. There's no reason to play Conor any more. Or Beckham or Boni or Sanchez. We know what we've got in those guys. Bring up Davidson and bring up Micah again, release Conor and Boni and Beckham and Sanchez, all four of em.
  23. Shark is looking GREAT on the mound of late. As much as we hoped the Sox might get red hot and reel off 12 wins in a row, this dog-crap lineup and Pee Wee league defense is making any such happening impossible. Please, Hahn, trade Shark ASAP and get this ball rolling. Shark can really be the difference for a lot of teams - like the Royals. Get Christian Colon and 2 of their top pitching prospects and call it a trade. Royals will do it. They can afford to get rid of Colon and they are knee deep in pitching! Shark is really really good right now. Make the deal. Or trade him to somebody else like St. Looie. He'd be amazing for the Cards.
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) I thought you like players that do this? Isn't that what made Ozzie Guillen is a good player in your book? Ozzie was a good player in anybody's book.
  25. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Why does it concern you? I think it's unprofessional. Why do you think teams had facial hair rules (Yankees, Sox) to begin with? Some people think it's unprofessional and ugly. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) That's encouraging. He'd have made it if he bothered to hustle. Hustle? Is that in his contract? I thought it was to hit .260 with no power.
