  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Announcing what, major league baseball? Because I have announced sporting events multiple times. Hawk is the ultimate homer. I have no idea where you're getting any other idea. That's why he's talking about Buehrle. Because Buehrle was here for such a long time and is engrained in White Sox lore. Hawk is THE homer in sports. And you know how you fill broadcast time? Providing supplemental information about players in the game you're watching. Go back and watch the games where Swirsky was doing the play-by-play. I learned so much about players from each team and no one was compared to Mark Buehrle, Rod Carew, Catfish Hunter or Carl Yastrzemski That's cool you are an announcer. I don't mean to insult you by saying you are no Hawk Harrelson. Just cause he is the best IMO. Listen, you say Hawk is a homer. Please answer this for me. Has Hawk ever criticized the White Sox or their players? (Yes is the correct answer). Does he do that often? (yes is the answer). Do announcers of other teams dare criticize their own players?? Gosh no! Unless they are in the Hall of Fame like Scully and Matthews. Please be honest with me. --- Tyler baby gets into one! Tyler is NOT worthless, folks. He's average. Great rally off Lester!
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Wrigley is funny. A flyball gets a roar like it's onto Waveland. The fans have hawks depth perception. You got to admit, Hawk called that deep fly to center perfectly. He knew it wasn't a homer.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) Right. I love Buehrle. He's one of my favorite athletes of all time because he created a great career out very little natural talent for a pitcher. He worked hard at all facets of the game - pitching speed, defense, holding runners - to become a great pitcher. He plays for the Blue Jays now and we've got a better pitcher going for the White Sox today. I want to know about Chris Sale, not Mark Buehrle. If I wanted to hear about Mark Buehrle five times a game, I'd watch the Blue Jays. You are speaking like somebody who has announced games before. These guys need to kill time and have stuff to talk about. If all you do is praise Sale then you become one of the homer hacks who broadcast for all the other teams. Stoney was talking about Minnie beating Detroit last night; Hawk was talking about another game just now. Let's face it. We're spoiled with having great announcers on the south side. Listen to other teams except for Scully and they suck. Hawk knows announcing.
  4. Awesome to see Sale excel that inning; blew through the Cubs.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Be a Blue Jays fan? Now you're getting anti-Greg. You can love the Sox and worship Buehrle. Hawk proves that in his commentary.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) No problem with a update just did not need to here about him 6 days in a row. He's catering to those of us who worship Buehrle.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Or have Hawk talk about players actually in this game. It's a long ballgame. All announcers give updates of other games, etc. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give Hawk a 9. I'd give the Royals announcers a 3 except for Denny Mathews a 7. Listen to other games and you'll love Hawkeroo. Also the Sox should be reminded of mistakes they've made once in a while. He does that. Royals announcers ONLY praise the Royals and mock the opponent. Status quo announcing today.
  8. Sox bats have died since that first inning. I thought they'd be loose all day and knock him around.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) He is gone let it go. Just responding to a rip of Hawk.
  10. Gotta love the pitcher batting in the NL; helped Sale maybe settle down there. Robin would be run out of town if he batted his pitcher eighth today or yesterday.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) 6th straight game Hawk has mentioned MB. He should. He's one of the stars of MLB who won today, pitched against us recently, is a former Sox great and basically is one of the top starters in baseball still.
  12. Great great catch by Avi. They are blistering Sale pretty good today. Good leather.
  13. Any obvious trading partners for Melky? Or is he untradeable like Dunn was?
  14. They getting some good swings on Sale. But ... nice pop out to rf.
  15. So that great play at ss is the difference between hitting .400 on the year and .200. Wacky.
  16. Nice pick by Saladino and nice snag by Abreu. That was a big play. If that ball sails over Abreu's head, bedlam ensues.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) It's so nice being able to listen to the Cubs broadcast instead of Hawk. Intelligent and coherent baseball talk for once. Heard a taped interview with Hawk on KC rain delay yesterday. He's awesome. He was explaining how he's not Ken on the broadcasts but he's Hawk. He was bragging about how he can't control the Hawk when talking about umpires. I love it.
  18. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Just 47 pitches through 5 innings. Dude is aging well. Hell, let's get him back in the offseason. He's got the win in the bag. Add him to the all star roster NOW.
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) Sanchez can't bunt Rodon is only guy on team who can bunt.
  20. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) As much as I hate bunting, Sanchez needs to be bunting every time in that situation. Now you give Lester the chance for the quick inning. Robin would get fried and maybe even fired for doing that with the pitcher up next.
