  1. QUOTE (BigFinn @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 04:49 AM) Has Ricketts replaced the troughs? Trade proposal: Samardzija and Robertson to the Yankees for RHP Luis Severino, C Gary Sanchez, and 3B Eric Jagielo. It's not going to happen, but a fan can dream. You make a good point ... I do think Shark will wind up a Yankee right before the trade deadline. There's a chance Sox could get KC and NY to bid against each other. Royals want WS crown this year; Shark to the Yanks might hurt KC in the ALDS.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 05:36 AM) The writing is very clearly on the wall for Conor. You could be right, but I see Saladino being sent down. Conor was a golden boy entering this season. He was supposed to be OUTSTANDING for us this season. Can't see them pulling the plug.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) The Royals are awful at 2B. Why haven't they called him up? We can do better....if Williams/Hahn stop kidding themselves and start making some moves. They should have traded him during the all star break. And then a new coaching staff after the season. Cause of Omar. They can't embarrass the veteran by cutting into his at bats. Colon was sent down to get to play more. No room for him. They would deal him. The time is now! If we can do better than Omar/Lamb (high draft pick before surgery!) then bring it on. I'm all for BETTER than Colon/Lamb. But Lamb/Colon would be a great haul for Shark IMO. I mean Shark isn't gonna be here after this season.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:31 AM) Saladino better stay on this damn team For once a guy is off to a good start stat wise in his debut with the Sox! Of course Abreu last year killed it from the start, but usually guys suck out of the gate with the Sox. But he'll probably be sent down because you can't send down Beckham and they won't want to admit failure on Boni and eat the cash. Who else could get sent down? Maybe DL somebody. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) Flowers another game winning hit. You got to admit, Flowers and Danks are not as bad as many think. As far as the thread topic ... four runs in 2 games?? Sure you'll take a split. Of course the Royals only got four runs in two games as well. They'll take the split.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:52 AM) They don't have to dump him if there isn't a good offer and they'll get a draft pick Forgot about that, heads. They very well could keep him then as a draft pick probably will be more valuable at the trade deadline than the scraps they get for Shark. My bad on that. I forgot about the draft pick. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:56 AM) Hahn absolutely has to sell. This lineup isn't showing signs of improvement. But put yourself in their position. It's their jobs/reputations on the line in the front office. You and I may want them to dump everybody and get what they can NOW but Hahn and Kenny and Bell and the scouts still have a 'chance' to get a wild card (in their eyes). If they do get a wild card, then they are Billy Beane-type geniuses in their offseason moves. You and I both know what actually is gonna happen ... nothin. Team may tread for a bit; may not. But we all know that 1-9 stretch on the road is comin sooner or later to blast this thing into oblivion.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:28 AM) So I guess nobody is getting dealt from any team at the deadline if that's your criteria No, I think Shark will get dealt at the deadline IF the Sox are 9 are so out of WC. It's obvious Hahn won't deal anybody til Sox fall out of the WC race. Some of us think that is fantasy; front office people who built this team obviously are hoping they'll still grab the WC. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:36 AM) So the Sox didn't deal Shark at the allstar break because they were getting offered next to nothing for him but they also think they're in the race, this all makes sense to me. I didn't explain it well. No, I think the Sox didn't deal him at the break because Hahn thinks the team is in the pennant race. I think Sox would have gotten a great haul for him had they traded him then or by Sunday. My point is they'll get little to nothing for him when he's finally dealt with a month left in the season.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:22 AM) Allows us to drag it out til the deadline I'm not worried about trades anymore. They could have dealt Shark at the all star break. They didn't. So that tells me we getting little to nothing for him. Sox think they are in the race. If they are 9 or more out the day before the deadline they'll trade Shark for scraps. Some team is gonna get him for a month and we'll get a non great prospect or 2.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) <!--quoteo(post=3199435:date=Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:14 PM:name=greg775)-->QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) <!--quotec-->Darn guys, you made me look up some Danks outings. July 3 vs. Balt: 7 innings, NO runs. June 17 vs. Pitt: 7 innings, 5 measly hits, three runs. a bit farther back May 31 vs. Houston: nine innings, 0 runs. May 16 vs. Oak: 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs. May 10 vs Cincy: 7 inns, 6 hits one run. Now coupled with tonight, 3 of his last 5 outings were DANDY. Seriously, he's no Phil Humber; he's no Carroll. He's not batting practice, folks. He's still coming off that injury. Just cause he makes a TON of money don't hate on this player. Then if you go back two more starts, it's only three of his last seven. Then four in his last 10. Those outings I mentioned show progress and potential (following the severe injury). I don't understand the hatred for Danks except for his salary. It's not his fault. He can't give the money back. Nobody does that except the great humanitarian, Gil Meche. p.s. He's actually been excellent in four of his last 8 outings. That's not too bad for a No. 5.
  9. Sox get 4 runs in 2 games; gotta be happy with a split under those circumstances. Amazing pitching this season; but no bats. Robertson, Danks, Shark were amazing today. 1-1 split.
  10. Darn guys, you made me look up some Danks outings. July 3 vs. Balt: 7 innings, NO runs. June 17 vs. Pitt: 7 innings, 5 measly hits, three runs. a bit farther back May 31 vs. Houston: nine innings, 0 runs. May 16 vs. Oak: 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs. 11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:02 AM) John Danks had a 6.15 ERA in his previous 6 starts prior to tonight. How come nobody ever cites the lines in his good starts?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 02:16 AM) Some very loud boos for LaRoche. He looks like he's ready for the season to be over. I hate when players get booed. I just wish a.) he'd shave his beard. That would probably win him some fans. b.) Sox trade him to an NL team ASAP. For whatever they can get. Pay a couple million of his salary. True I despise his ability and his beard, but I don't despise the man. Don't boo him, folks. He's at least trying. Trade him. Do everybody a favor.
  13. I (still) worship John Danks. Anybody ready to join Greg on the Danks bandwagon ... yet? Another very good outing for Danks.
  14. Trust me. I know the mindset of the Royals and their fans right now. Getting Shark would thrill them. They would think he's the missing piece. Thus their fans (and front office) would be willing to part with name players, but not their super prospects. Mondesi will be off limits to us. They can't trade any more top prospects. However, they have no room for Colon. We CAN get him. It's a no brainer trade. Even if Colon sucks with the Sox, we have no use for Shark. He's gone after this year and we're going nowhere this year. It's a no risk deal. Colon and Lamb for Shark is a STEAL for the Sox.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) A 26-year-old minor leaguer is our 2B for the next 10 years? Ok... He may be a decent player, but let's not carried away. But then again, it's you saying it. Colon I think was a top five draft pick. I don't think Shark's gonna get dealt though. Maybe right before the break. No team is going to give up squat that late.
  16. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) On the post game show I caught the comment where the Royals are apparently interested in Shark. Mark Shark for Colon straight up. Colon immediately is our second baseman the next 10 years. I really don't think the Sox are going to make any moves though. They think they are in WC hunt and are comfortable with this year's payroll.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Eaton has been our 2nd best hitter this season. Saladino will be a utility player but I think very useful one. Yes, but Eaton still is not anybody another team would ever covet. Saladino is likeable, but just another guy.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Game 2 lineup: Eaton, CF Beckham, 3b Cabrera, LF Abreu, DH LaRoche, 1b Garcia, RF Flowers, C Sanchez, 2b Saladino, SS Danks, P. That is one horrible lineup. The only way this team could have had a good offense is if the meat of the order, Cabrera, Abreu, Laroche, Garcia raked this season. Eaton and Beckham are average to below average ballplayers; Flowers is below average catcher; Sanchez and Saladino are not big league regulars for any other team. It would have helped if Eaton raked this season as well. If he was a .320 type basher. I'd say this one has 7-0 loss all over it or maybe 7-2 if the Sox are hot.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) And that's the game. Positives: -Eaton's power -Saladino's hitting approach -Defense Negatives: -Hitting One positive: Saladino. We've seen all the rest before. I know I know the plan is to rest Sale, but in a COMPETITIVE world, if you actually treat a game against a Central Division opponent as something you care about, you pitch Sale in Game One and hope for a shutout. Only chance to get any momentum against a team that owns you. But no ... time to protect Sale's arm until Sunday. Thanks for showing some competitive fire, White Sox. And way to compete in Game One of the 4-game slaughter. Again, I wouldn't mind if they'd just admit they are out of the race but they are pretending they are a WC contender. Not throwing your best guy in a statement game like Game One is no way to run a franchise where fans are supposed to believe their team has a chance.
  20. I predict the Sox will stand pat continuing to pretend they are in the race. After KC takes 3 of 4 or all four the fans may give up again but not the front office. Hawk will just say, "Glad to get them out of town now let's forget about that series, strap em up and play some ball." I predict no trades. If there's one deal it will be shipping Shark right at the trade deadline in a very minor transaction (for the Sox). The team that gets him will give us a non prospect or two cause it's so late in the season. It'll be one of the big money teams we send him to for little to nothing. That's IF they trade him which I doubt they will.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Actually getting Samardzija as many starts as possible prior to the deadline is smarter. Yeah, throw Sale on Sunday after it's already 3-0 Royals. Someday the White Sox will decide they want to actually scrap and battle and compete again. Those days will be fun.
  22. Is there any reason they didn't pitch Sale in Game One to suggest to the Royals maybe we came to compete this weekend? Weird organization. Sale must be hurt or sore or something.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Will be 15 -26 in division If we lose this game playoff talk is nonsense. Playoff talk is the Sox curse. Time for the massive firesale of all the guys we acquired last offseason. Get what you can for them and move on.
  24. Thank goodness that lowlife has been found guilty. Now he either rots in prison or gets put to death. What a horrible person. Like Richard Speck's tattoo, he also was Born to Raise Hell. Holmes is a pure evil bastard. Thank you jury for finding that murderer guilty. Go to a movie and think you are safe and some lowlife comes in and starts shooting in the dark. What a coward. What a piece of dung. He's 27 so hopefully he'll live a long life and be in jail about 60 years. I would think he'll see one hour of sunlight every day for the next 60 years.
  25. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) I was thinking the same exact thing. I don't hate Hawk by any means, but I'm more than ready for a change. A professional PBP guy would be incredibly refreshing, even if some might view such a guy as "boring". I can't believe some of you want one of those plastic homers to work Sox games - one of those guys who enunciates every word in a clear, concise, fake Wink Martendale voice. Chicago is special cause it has had Harry, Hawk, guys willing to tell it like it is. Some people just want our franchise to be dull as dirt. Many of you got your wish when the colorful Ozzie was replaced with dry, boring Robin. Now many want some boring announcers. Please keep Hawk forever. And Stone as well.
