There's a game tonight, right? Sox vs Cards
greg775 replied to Heads22's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Let's see if Greg enlivens this thread. Seriously, when are some people going to join me on the Danks bandwagon?? The guy is a decent pitcher, folks. It's NOT his fault he has the huge contract. Every fricking night he pitches he gives it his all. He's actually becoming one of the bright spots on this gawdforsaken team. He's ripping nobody off! He battles. Five innings, no runs vs. St. Louis! -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Maybe most of the kids didn't like the fact that their parents didn't attend or cared? I don't know because my parents went to my sporting events when i was a kid. Their was only a handful of times at least one of my parents weren't at the games. Did they stay and watch practice, no, they dropped off and left (or if my sister was along, did something with her while I practiced). And by no means were my parents helicopter parents. I also don't know many people who didn't have parents attend. I rarely played in games where the stands weren't full (and it wasn't random people watching us play little league or AYSO...it was parents and/or grandparents). Now if you are referring to high school, I'd say that would differ and parents would come a lot less often (but that was partly because of the time of day the games were played...no longer all that conducive to working parents). None of the kids cared that parents were not at the games. On the South Side of Chicago in Mt. Greenwood, most of the parents at the time worked hard and partied hard. They either didn't come home until very late at night after work drunk, as drinking and driving wasn't as big a deal back in the day (the cops on the south side tended to make sure you got home but rarely arrested you), or they would be too tired to go to one of their kids' little league games or youth basketball games. They liked to stay home and sit in the yard and slug beers or watch the Sox on TV. Parents wouldn't even dream of talking to their kids' Little League coaches. Like I said, my dad was shocked at the quality of play (outstanding play) when he finally went to one of our playoff games. I know parents of kids on our LL team were happy the fields at 115th Street were not that far away and all the kids rode their bikes to the games. Then they wouldn't have to drive the kids to the games. The weird thing is the kids who played Little League on my team are one of the first generations to monitor every moment of their kids' lives after their lives were so carefree and un-monitored. Weird.

Lexi is so bad and Saladino so hot it's a no brainer. Trade Lexi now for whatever you can get for him and insert Tyler at ss. Isn't Anderson coming soon? Tyler can hold the fort til then.
-
Does it really matter? Soto blows as does Tyler. Both are good enough to contribute a bit and hit a homer now and then. It's not like Soto is good; he's OK. And believe it or not Tyler is OK.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Maybe I'm in the dark but haven't seen anything about him being hurt. I just want him to start hitting the ball hard again. If it takes a DL stint, so be it. The Royals' Hudler said he talked to Robin and he has a hand injury. So it's no secret. I don't know if the Sox reporters have written about it or not. But the Royals announcers were pulling the old "I talked to Ventura before the game and he said Abreu had a bad finger."

SoxNet: What can the White Sox get for Jeff Samardzija?
greg775 replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's such a no brainer. We've already waited way too long to deal him and be an aggressive trading team. Sox can always try to sign him in the offseason if they want him. Hahn should call 2-3 teams that need pitching and get it done now. Sox have nothing to lose. No fans in their right minds believe the team can contend the rest of this season so attendance will be the same with or without Shark. Nobody's coming to games because he might lead us to the WC. Sox fans are smart. Not a contender. I don't know why they don't deal him now for either 2 top prospects or somebody like Colon and a prospect. -
Inquiring minds want to know: Why hasn't Shark been traded yet? Why do the Sox front office types not see what their fans see? That this is one, horses*** team that had no chance of a WC? They are 1-4 since the all star game, predictably. Why can't they pull the trigger on trades? They already are very late in getting some new bodies in here for Shark, Melky, Robertson, LaRoche, Lexi, Beckham, Shuck, Eaton. Keep Sale, Rodon, Q, Saladino, Avi and Abreu and trade everybody else soon, please???

That was a typical loss for a last place team. Bad effort from starting pitcher but good relief. Bats show a little bit for the home fans on a summer night, but lack of clutch hitting keeps the lousy last place team from beating the first place team. Way too little too late. Overall Good effort from last place club, though.

Should I go see Antman and/or Terminator this week or do they suck?
-
Oh well, we all know we can't win a game in which we allow 8 runs. That wasn't gonna happen.
-
DP coming or K?
-
How come Saladino's batting average was so low in the minors this year? He seems like a .300 hitter on any level.
-
Saladino's head is in the game. What a breath of fresh air on this crap team.
-
WTF. First two were hittable Melky. Third one coulda been hit too if he just tried to make contact. s*** at bat, Melky. Does Melky have any real supporters, fans here? I think he blows.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:37 AM) and bring up Davidson - might as well. Just think if Davidson comes up and does what Saladino is doing? We'd be stoked for our 3B and SS of the future.
-
So is Abreu a phenom or just another guy? I still love him and expect him to homer every time up, but ...
-
Beautiful. Take advantage of the Cards' lousy defense here! Let's cut it to one run and see what happens.
-
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:09 AM) looooool this team is so bad lmfao I expect us to lose every game now so it's really not so painful. Did anybody hear Hawk tonight say he wasn't gonna give up til the Sox were eliminated cause there's too much talent? That's really an indictment (hint hint?) of Robin. If we got the talent, then where are the wins? We should be contending apparently.
-
Holy bleep! Saladino is a Sox bright spot. Trade Lexi. Everyday shortstop. He looks like a f***ing star!
-
Wow I ask for homers I get a homer. Finally.
-
Remember when the Sox used to hit like this in the Cell? Blast home runs like the Cards are doing? Our fans cheering like Cards fans are cheering? Way to build a singles hitting team, Mr. Hahn. Oh wait your team has no speed or baserunning smarts, also. LOL.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) He struggles with command. He had a 3.69 FIP coming into tonight. He hasn't looked pedestrian at all. He looks like a top of the rotation starter for many years to come. Counting tonight, he has sucked in four of his last six starts. He'd be better off in the minors IMO.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 02:30 AM) He's not wasting service time. He came up after the deadline. They control him for 6 more seasons after this one. It's fine. What's better? Struggling up in the majors and gaining experience or going 7-8 innings consistently in the minors and looking special? Not sure. He's definitely looked pretty pedestrian thus far in the bigs. I don't have a violent opinion on this either way.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 02:26 AM) They're wasting service time on this nonsense. Poor asset management all the way around. Not only would he preserve service time in Charlotte, he'd get better coaching and would be pitched to develop, not to be better than Noesi. Good post, GreenSox. Nonsense is a pretty cool word to describe what I'm seeing with Rodon this season.

This is one of the worst pitching performances you'll ever seen. 100 pitches in four innings; seven runs; baserunners, yuck.
