  1. So much for the Sox being wide awake for the s***ty Cubs. That should have been the sorriest Cub double play ever. Instead ... 1-0 Cubs.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2013 -> 03:03 AM) It's also hard to read much into sweeping the Marlins, one of the two worst teams in baseball, at home. We also didn't have to face Jose Fernandez, FWIW. We beat up the Twins just as they were just starting to go ice-cold, we faced the Angels when they were in last place and split and we beat up the Marlins, although all three games were nail biters. That said, the way we played against Boston was encouraging. We're also still sitting in negative territory in the RS/RA stat. The Miami series meant nothing except it was nice to see the Sox complete the deal and sweep a minor league team. Obviously Sox could have lost one or two of the three, but didn't.
  3. Well, the Sox are technically in the race, so you don't do the firesale yet. You just can't. It would be nice to acquire a catcher and a reliever, but what do the Sox give up? I'm all for adding payroll and bodies, but not giving up talent (how to accomplish that I have no idea). I do anticipate the Sox continuing to flounder during games against Central Division teams. We haven't even played one game against Detroit yet. Does anybody expect us to do much against KC, Minnie or Cleveland? Even Minnie has looked good against the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) Excellent! Ventura did a great job of having a quick hook with Axelrod. Ventura is on a roll of late. Hope he can get the team to stay fired up against horses*** teams. Sox really could take 3 of 4 from the Cubs if they maintain focus (cliche) and play good defense to go with what figures to continue to be strong pitching. I won't even comment on the offense, but are 4-5 runs out of the question each of the next four nights?
  5. Man, you guys are way ahead of the mlb.com feed. Lindstrom is still pitching as we speak.
  6. I'm not a big Lindstrom fan. He seems like a taller Axelrod (though I do tip my cap to Axe for giving all he has).
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) Playing the same four teams 18-19 games a year is stale too. I'd much rather see no divisions, a balanced league schedule, and less interleague--maybe 12 games. As far as playing the Cubs, it's good for the Sox -- a couple more nights in their own beds and one less flight. Wasn't that done so Boston and the Yankees could play 18 times? Sox-Cubs should still be the biggest crowds of the year in the Cell, right? So it's good for something.
  8. Nice win, tonight. Hawks got some pucks past the hot goalie. I don't see any reason why the Hawks can't win in Detroit and get this back to Chicago. In fact, again, considering the regular season accomplishments, it'd be a big disappointment if the Hawks can't win one in Detroit this series.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2013 -> 06:21 AM) Damn, greg was doing that crazy ass posting style back in 2004? and lol@me. I've evolved so much. 2004. That's why I always balk when people said I was a troll last year. Been around a while.
  10. What's the Sox record since Robin got pissed and had the meeting? That's the sign of a good manager. He knew when to get on the team. Team has been pretty good since then.
  11. Been watching the Blackhawks tonight finally get their act together, hopefully not too late. But nice for the Sox to win another game they are supposed to win. Kepp continues to hit a bit; Gillaspie continues to stroke base hits. Peavy! Very nice to get a walkoff win at home. Sox don't get many of those. Keep it rollin, White Sox.
  12. You think the Hawks have it in them to come back and win? I think we could use a blowout win to shake Detroit a bit, then go eke out a 2-1 win in Detroit before winning it in Chicago.
  13. QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 25, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) HELL NO. I don't think Ozzie would go over well with the canvass at all. He's far too outspoken for our ownership and management as well. That's hilarious, I was watching that game and saw that graphic several times, but never noticed all the mistakes. My Royals are really struggling lately. In a little over two weeks since taking 2 of 3 from the White Sox, they are 4-13, losing 6 of those by 1 run. They were swept by the Yankees at home, and the A's on the road. They also dropped 2 of 3 to the lowly Astros. Moustakas still isn't hitting, .174/.244/.299 on the season. Escobar still isn't hitting, .246/.276/.322 Getz still sucks, .214/.267/.316 Francoeur still sucks, .232/.258/.319 Hosmer has been better, but he's still not hitting for power, only 8 extra base hits all year. Then you have all of Ned Hosts bonehead mistakes. Such as batting Getz leadoff, batting Escobar in the #2 spot for much of the season. Bringing Luke Hochevar into tied ball games, and/or wumith runners on, pulling Shields too early from several starts when he was cruising. I think Yosts' fate is tied directly with Dayton Moore's, and another s***ty season should get them both canned. Have you seen the interview with Ozzie before this Miami series? He's humbled and says he'd work cheap. You Royals fans are too patient. You need something to shake things up. Royals had a chance to sign Sosa back in the day; coulda signed Thome. Coulda signed anybody. But you plod along hoping and hoping. Yes you beat the Sox like a drum and probably will again the next time we play.
  14. Will the games draw over 30,000?
  15. We win. We win! We beat Ozzie. Oh wait, Ozzie's doing interviews on Comcast these days, not managing any more. Nice hit, Kepp.
  16. It seems to me Kepp is doing a lot better of late. I would think his average is pretty good the last 10 games or so. It seems like he gets multi hit games once in a while, and of course, tonight's big hit.
  17. I thought the Hawks played pretty well about 8 of the last 10 minutes and thought they'd tie it. Lot of good passes to wide open players who took slap shots to no avail. I thought they played like s*** when they pulled the goalie. I remember one possession with time of the essence, some dope in the Hawks' end was skating around in circles rather than taking off with the puck. I guess he was off balance or something but it was pissing me off. Can't remember the player. I screamed at the TV.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Is he supposed to use the same 2 or 3 guys every game? You can't manage every game like it's game 7 of the WS. Crain appeared the last 2 games. Do you want him to get hurt and miss the next 120? The Sox came up with 2 runs. They were destined to lose no matter what BO or NJ did. The Sox bullpen has been getting a workout lately. Sometimes you have to hope the last guys in there can get the job done. You can't wear everyone out by the beginning of June. Very true. I used to stand up for Ozzie as well when he'd throw a reliever out there who sucked versus a reliable one. Some days you have to pitch the sucky relievers like Dick Allen said above. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 23, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) If you score three runs or less every game your bullpen is going to get worn down and you are going to lose a lot of games in the American League. Best post of the thread. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:04 AM) Do we have a guy with a funky delivery like Ehren Wasserman/Chad Bradford/Takatsu we could try? Probably not. Someone that throws slow enough to throw off hitters who are used to all gas coming from the bullpen...Remenowsky? You guys don't agree with me that Nate has a funky delivery? Gawd I hate his release.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2013 -> 04:01 AM) Greg, I'm still trailing you in these "unofficial" standings. You mean the overreaction standings? I'm slow sometimes. You might have to explain better for me to get it. QUOTE (Baron @ May 23, 2013 -> 04:03 AM) Nate Jones is just freakin bad and thats all I have to say about that. I can't believe anybody with talent to make the major leagues would release the ball as he does. Like Keith Foulke. I mean it's absurd to whip the arm around like that. I can see why he is so wild. Can anybody watch a tape of Nate and seriously tell me that's a good way to approach the mechanics of pitching/releasing.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:55 AM) On the way home I think the whole stadium just emptied. I take it the fans at games aren't overly into this team ... again. Nobody expected the boys to post a comeback? QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:56 AM) It's early means you don't bring your fragile set up guy into back to back games when you're losing in May. Especially after we already won the f***ing series. Oops. My bad.
  21. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:51 AM) It's May and we're like 5 games back. Wtf? There's 3/4 of a season left. Caufield may be a reactionary but I also dislike your response. I hate the "it's early" type posts regarding our team. It's like the Sox goal is to win the division by one game every year rather than actually play good baseball most of the season and win the fricking division.
  22. Flowers definitely looked like a bad Little Leaguer on that last passed ball. He had no chance and/or no clue on that inside pitch.
  23. This game is one base hit here from being ova.
