I'm surprised this lasted the whole week. I thought everybody figured it'd be a day or two max. The Sun Times wrote: "The union is organizing a huge rally at noon Saturday in Union Park. I think it'd be in poor taste to hold a victory rally. What are we celebrating here, teachers? Kind of a selfish thing to do. Just shut up if you get the contract you want and resume teaching on Monday. What kind of example are you setting for the kids here if you have some stupid victory rally?

That game sucked. The closeups of Cutler and Marshall brooding were alarming. And the Bears losing their cool getting in the face of the Packers play after play when down by 20 was embarrassing. Forget this game. On to the next one.

All things considered, great that we're in first right now, but things would look a lot brighter IF we had a non-injured Konerko, a non-injured Dunn, non-exhausted #1 and #2 starters in Sale and Peavy, and a manager who recognized that the time for experimenting with AAA and AAAA players is over and you should win this thing or lose this thing with your big league roster at this point of the season. Love the heart that this team plays with, but whether through injuries, roster decisions of the GM, or playing-time decisions of the field manager, we're frequently undermanned on the field right now. That's a pretty good post when you think about it.

Thank God it got rained out. Now there's a chance we can do what happened before, win a series vs. Minnie and have Detroit get swept. If we can have a 3 game lead by Monday, that loss won't mean squat. Still no guarantees, but I feel better about going to Minnie with a one-game lead than a tie. If somehow we just win all three in Minnie and Detroit loses all three against whoever they are playing, I'd rather just forfeit Monday's game and get on with it. GO SOX!!!

Peavy is an OK pitcher, nothing special. He's worth the going rate for No. 3 starters, whatever those guys get on the open market. I guess to be fair he's a 2 or 3 starter. I happen to think he's more a 3. I'll be shocked if he gets huge money, but I guess Boston has the money to give him now.

I'm ready to lose our final game against Detroit and get on with the final couple weeks. Aside from the obligatory 3 losses to the Royals, the other games should be interesting. The question is can we overcome those 4 defeats? We'll probably have to play .700 ball in the other games. I wonder if Lopez and Olmeda are going to play tomorrow and Flowers? I guess it doesn't matter who Robin plays vs. Detroit and KC. Just get it over with and move on to Minnie.
