  1. Things not looking too positive for the Sox this inning. Loaded nobody out.
  2. That must be frustrating to hit the ball right into the shift. That's a base hit for most every ballplayer in the country.
  3. I didn't realize Dunn was down under .220. He must be in bit of a slump. He was .260is for a long time.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 28, 2012 -> 11:57 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3869392.story If they want people to buy tickets, maybe jacking up prices so much to feed the Dynamic Pricing model should be abandoned. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:09 AM) Look at the prices for this Saturday's game against the world beater Seattle Marinerss. If a family of 4 wants to go to the game, its over $200 to sit in the bleachers. Its $160 to sit in the upper deck. Its ridiculous. Its almost as if they don't want to sell tickets. Its $90+ wilth fees per ticket for a premium lower deck box. Then you add gas, parking, food...............There will be 10,000 empty seats and they wonder why. Amen Dick Allen. The economy sucks still and those prices are outrageous. It's just too much money to go more than a time or two all season. Who wants to sit in the upper deck anyway?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 05:30 AM) White Sox can't win at home. Can't beat the Blue Jays (not unlike the Twins and Royals). No homers. Boo!!! Glad to see I can stir up so many emotions in people.
  6. What a lousy game tonight. I pity the poor fans who picked this one to attend. Yuk.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) Is that before or after Buehrle's an all-star and Ozzie is manager of the year? There's one superstar in Miami baseball right now, and it's Giancarlo Stanton. Mark has a 3.53 era and that counts his one bad start vs. Phils.
  8. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) I don't think there are that many. I'm sure there are more people who just don't care one way or the other, but as far as hard-core Ozzie fans, you're on an island. Oh, and the "me thinks" thing? Um, no. You are right. I deserve a Kangaroo Court fine for going with the 'me thinks' crap. But I don't think I am on an island regarding Ozzie. If Miami keeps winning you will hear a lot about Ozzie nationally prolly starting at the all star break.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 06:16 AM) They didn't, we traded him to them for Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez in the winter. Castro has been pretty good, although his home/away splits have been kind of drastic in AA. Pedro hasn't been that great. Needs to strike out more guys, and walk less guys. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) Absolutely no reason to keep talking about Quentin. He was great for 5 months, and an enigma and a headache for 3 years. 1.) Thanks. Interesting trade. 2.) Why a headache? A lot of guys get hurt. He lost his temper what, once? When he got hurt after making an out or something.
  10. The Royals and Indians appear to be our competition this year. Why KC? We play them 15 more times I think.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 05:53 AM) Padres will surely turn around and trade Quentin at the deadline if he stays healthy. Good for Carlos, always enjoyed watching him play. Why did the Pads sign Quentin knowing they can't afford Quentin? Weird. I wish we could bring him back. Rios is having a nice year, but it'd be nice to dump him and add CQ.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 12:14 AM) And I suspect that your soul is being ripped apart at the notion that more people want to go get a beer with Robin than Ozzie, which as we all know, is the main qualification Oswaldo Jose Guillen Barrios has a manager of a major league baseball team. I'm actually stunned Ozzie has gotten as many votes as he did. Me thinks there are a lot of Ozzie fans out here who don't post a lot. Cmon guys, speak up like I do. I love Ozzie.
  13. Quentin gets hurt a lot, but he is a very, very good hitter.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 03:24 AM) Yea, if he is a starter for another team. great line. Zach stinks and Humber's ERA is just under six which sucks. What is going on with Humber? He is inconsistent at best and pretty Zach-like at times.
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 07:27 AM) The question wasn't "Who do you think is a better manager?" I'd rather have beers with Robin. At least he knows when to shut the f*** up and won't get you into a fight. Ozzie's a loud mouth who just wants to talk about Ozzie. That seems pretty f***ing boring. You are assuming a lot here about the bar-room Ozzie. How the hell do you know he'd only want to talk about Ozzie. Somebody else said on here he's a great guy outside the lines. I choose Ozzie over Robin. Ozzie is Ozzie and I'd want to be around him in the bar.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) I would punch Ozzie for ruining 2011 and his rotating DH s***. So, to avoid a twitter war with Oney, Robin. And I'd suspect Ozzie after getting punched by you would then rip you apart.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 05:25 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/12977679-41...has-become.html Powers that be deserve some blame for what Harrelson has become...Morrissey article I must admit that was a great column.
  18. I voted for Ozzie, but no question Robin has done a fine job. He might revolutionize managing. You obvously need no experience. He's proving that.
  19. I don't know how anybody can deny Adam Dunn an A or B plus. He is in the top 10 in homers, rbis and on base percentage.
  20. The baseball draft bores me. Call me in 5 years and we'll know if this guy can play. C.J. Henry went No. 15 overall to the Yankees one year and quite possibly might be the worst player in organized baseball history. It only took him 3-4 years to leave the game completely. He was "five tool." Luke Hochevar No. 1 overall? My god.
  21. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) When it gets to this and he's been a punchline twice in one week, I'd say: enough. I heard that live and thought it was funny. The way he said ... the Mariners made me know he knew what semen meant in that connotation.
  22. Great thread. I'd move Dunn up to a B. I wouldn't even argue at A minus. I might move Crain to a C. He's just another guy, nothing special or even B-like. Your grades were tough but pretty accurate I think. Of the everyday nine, I have positive feelings about Tank, DeAza and Rios in the outfield; positive feelings about Paulie in the infield, positive feelings about AJ at catcher and Dunn at DH. Negative feelings about Morel/Hudson at third, Lexi at short and Beckham at second. Positive feelings about Sale, Peavy; neutral about Danks and Floyd and Humber. Positive feelings about Reed.
  23. QUOTE (Tuna @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) I can only speak for myself, had I known that I could get tickets this past weekend for $5, I would have been there with my family. Unfortunately, everything I saw when I priced it out was $25 per. After doing the calculations $25 per ticket x me, my wife and 3 kids, we're at $125 before we even start talking about gas/transportation to get to the park (coming from Crystal Lake), food/drinks while there, etc...There's only one other person as passionate about the Sox in my immediate family and that's my 4 year old daughter. She was the only one pissed that we didn't go. I think Tuna's story is VERY commonplace. People for some reason don't want to talk about ticket prices and parking, but it HAS TO BE a major factor. It's not worth blowing 300 dollars in Tuna's case to see one baseball game. I'm assuming the 25 dollar ticket he's talking about also would have been a lousy seat for the wife and kids. If you are gonna go to a game you want a decent seat unless you are a wacky diehard. If the Sox want to have high ticket/parking prices, fine, but in this economy it will show up on the attendance board. The Sox should try to sell more tickets to corporations. At least the seats would be sold to the few rich people left in society.
  24. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:27 AM) I'm surprised Hawk has gotten so much media attention after going off about the umpire. He's done it before and in that fashion as well. Thought I don't have a chance to listen to him much I remember he went off the same way about Brian Gorman for ejecting Buehrle ending his 46 game 6 inning streak. Didn't he also go off about an umpire (forgot his name) because he called 2 balks on Buehrle for his pickoff move? The problem is media is infatuated with deadspin and twitter and Hawk dominated those ridiculous "social media" sites very shortly after the rant.
