  1. I love Stoney but that was stupid. He said because of Cleve's win this "is a must." Too early for that, specially with Cleveland.
  2. That was huge infield hit by Lexi. Now all we gotta do is close 'em out for another win!
  3. All of a sudden the last 2 homestands the Sox are blasting the home run ball outta the Cell. LOVE IT.
  4. Just read that Selig and Reinsdorf spoke with Hawk about his tirade. That's bulls***. He didn't cuss. This is a free country. p.s. I know many of you hate Ozzie, but his quote on the matter was hlarious... "If I say that I'd be in jail. I'm not going to be suspended, I'm going to be in jail," Guillen told media. "They take the passport away from me and everything. You were an American citizen once. Not anymore." Ozzie is my kinda guy. He doesn't take things seriously. I love it!
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) As always greg, you ignore the facts. Konerko got hit with a mistake, a splitter that Samardzija let go early. Sliding hard into a base is not what AJ did. I think you haven't seen a replay of it, because if you did you wouldn't be saying what you are saying. Zobrist was standing behind the base, AJ slid in PAST THE BASE cleats up, and intentionally cleated Zobrist in the ankle/leg. That is not part of the game, that is bushleague bulls*** that breaks ankles and legs. AJ is our guy and all, but sometimes you have to call a spade a spade, and that was most definitely a spade. If that happened to one of the Sox players, you would be calling for MLB and God Ozzie to come down and smite the offender off the face of the planet. You are right about one thing and wrong about another. It was intentional on Paulie. Who is the pitcher who agreed with me? I forget right now, but wasn't it a pitcher or some national pundit who said Samarj hit Paulie on purpose. I admit I did not see the AJ play. If I could get video I'd watch it. But I will say back in the day spikes up sliding was popular (Hal McRae and the like).
  6. Paulie got hit in the face with a pitch. AJ slid hard into a base. If a player is in the way, s*** happens. It's part of the game.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) When I was younger I actually was less of a fan then I am of him now. Hes just part of a Sox game, he might be ridiculous sometimes, but at least he actually cares. Amen brotha; u and El Rockin have the best posts sometimes.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:50 PM) When Phil Humber threw the perfect game, never once did Hawk cross my mind. Hawk to Sox baseball now is the same as what Ozzie was to Sox baseball the last two seasons. There were some great times, his legacy will never be forgotten, but it's definitely time for a change. For the life of me I can't understand how a Sox fan could criticize Hawk. He's so good and such a legend I just don't get it. Must be something about being a Sox fan even after winning the WS. Hawk to me is beyond criticism. His eruption over that s***ty ump's call was LEGENDARY! Hawk should be off limits in regard to criticism. It's in bad taste IMO.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Maybe calm the f*** down & don't scream like a banshee about your personal vendetta vs. Wegner that you have held for 10 years? I disagreed with the call too, but acting a fool like that is just stupid IMO. What's wrong with screaming like a banshee when the ump made one of the worst calls I've ever seen? It was great TV and great announcing. But some fans can't enjoy that moment? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) You can't compare Hawk vs. B & B. I listen to B & B to entertain me in my car as I drive home from work and/or run errands. If they annoy me, I can change the channel and listen to music instead. As soon as I pull in the garage, the radio is off and I am done with them. Hawk is the play-by-play guy for White Sox baseball, and the only one I can listen to when I want to watch a game on TV. I can't choose a different announcer. Buy MLB.com and listen to most of those plastic hacks. We are so lucky to have Hawk n Stone. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) Why should I be forced to watch the game on mute because the announcer is a senile old man? He's not senile. That interview today was GREAT. hawk didn't back down.Hawk Harrelson is a legend and the best IMO.
  10. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:17 AM) It just pains me to read his comments anyway. Put him on ignore and enjoy life more. If my comments affected your life where you couldn't "enjoy life" as much ... wow. A message board affects your life?? QUOTE (ptatc @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) As he should have. What AJ did was an unnecessary, bush league play. AJ started it and his pitcher paid the price. I think if Beckham hadn't been hit nothing would have happened. But eventually you do need to protect your players if it looks like it's getting out of control. Hal McRae made a living out of spiking a ton of second basemen and shortstops. It's part of the game. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 31, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) Did Alexi almost overrun that last pop out in short left, or was I seeing things? If he missed that, two runs prob score, game over. I was thinking that was tank's ball, but no harm no foul.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Brent needs to really prove himself at AAA. He needs to be hitting like a guy who doens't belong there, like De Aza was doing the last year when he was blocked by Pierre or Quentin when he would murder the ball on a rehab stint. Hitting well over .300 with serious extra base power and no issues defensivelly. If he can't do that, then burn an option or re-start the clock on his rehab stint. That's a good post IMO. If Morel during a rehab game or 3 is 1-for-11, by no means should he come back up and do the same for the big league club.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) To me it is reason #1 of why he needs to stay. That was epically entertaining and well said. Amen. I don't get the Hawk hate. My god, some people don't realize what a gem we have doing our games. Steve Physioc truly made me nauseous the other day on the Royals game. Simply atrocious, boring homerism. "Boy oh boy, golly ol gee, would a double play look good here right now." "Boy oh boy is Hosmer hitting into bad luck. I'd just take a little swinging bunt single from hos right now; he deserves it." Hawk's rant was homerish, yes, but IT WAS AWESOME.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) We actaully do. See that "Cost controlled talent" thread? Another addition to that would be great. And if you're really concerned about this season, then having Orlando Hudson replace Escobar as a legit IF backup would be a substantial upgrade if Morel could put up anything better than the .700-ish OPS hudson has put up over the last few seasons combined. Robin could give Morel his job back and just play Hudson a little bit more than the average once a week player. Send Esky down. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) The O Dog is the most beloved .185 hitting, 2 errors in a week at 3B player in Soxtalk history. Good post. He's been more a good luck charm than anything else. I think everybody's just so relieved to see somebody else at third besides Morel.
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 30, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Yes because a team is down 4-3 with runners on first and second and no outs and three out away from getting swept is going to take the chance on missing De Aza and putting runners on 2nd and 3rd for Dunn-Konerko-Rios. But it must have been intentional because ESPN's version of Max Mercy said so. Settled? It was and then Quintana threw behind Zobrist. But TB is the ones trying to intimidate their opponents... I don't know how you can watch the play and not come to the conclusion it was intentional. He gunned it right at him in his path back to the base. Quintana's pitch to Zobrist was laughably bad. Zobrist laughed.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) You know, you can just put your responses to each quote between the quotes. It's a pain to keep scrolling up and down to see what you're responding to. Oh I never thought of that, I'll try that next time. GO SOX.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) I'll be 100% honest. I couldn't watch the 9th haha There was some bad juju all game. Reed is not that shut the door closer just yet haha QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Sox got 1-10 with 5 Ks and 10 LOB from Dunn and Konerko today. PK was only 2-13 in this series. I watched it. When you are on a winning streak, odds are good things are gonna happen. It didn't have the feel of a walkoff Rays victory, not after their b.s. during the game. Little worried after the leadoff walk, but when things are going good, might as well watch the final out be made or the walkoff homer. Reed is doing a nice job as closer. Wow. 2.) Aren't they feeding Paulie a ton of changeups? He'll adjust.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) Part of his game is to irritate. Its why if he's on your team you should love him so much. Next year, if he's on TB, their fans will have a totally different take on him. No one can say he doesn't know what he's doing when he's on the field. I like the fact he ran right onto the pitcher's mound after making his ground out returning to the dugout. He's no coward. If the pitcher wanted some of him he could have yelled at AJ for stepping on his domain, not cowardly drilling him with a pitch. AJ is a brave badass.
  18. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) I didn't see it but that would seem pretty risky to do on purpose (if you miss, the ball is in CF). QUOTE (zenryan @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Rays trying for intimidation? lol How is a team trying to be the ones intimidating teams when they get even for a cheap shot and then get a ball throw behind one of their batters? Ease up on the emotions and take a step back and actually look at what happened. 1.) Maybe risky, but not really from my sightlines. He gunned it right at DeAza. Like target practice. Gunned it right in his direction like one of those games at the carnival. 2.) Easy. They already retaliated earlier!!! They were definitely trying to win with intimidation, throwing the ball at a baserunner. Sick. His comment was not emotional. You look at what happened. Explain throwing the ball at DeAza after all had been "settled."
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Beyond silly. It was a lazy, stupid prediction. I think all they looked at was losing Buehrle and Quentin. They didn't factor in their replacements (Sale and Viciedo), nor did they consider any improvements in Dunn, Peavy, and Rios (the Kansas Bums). QUOTE (ptatc @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) If Morel is healthy and performing better after a rehab assignment, Escobar will go to minors and Hudson will fill his role on the bench. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) 9 Game home stand... Over or Under....250,000 fans (average 27,778) Go... 1.) Sale has been huge. Thank goodness that insanity of putting him in the bullpen only lasted about a week. Thank goodness that turned into an organizational mulligan or do-over. No harm no foul on that mess. p.s. I never called Peavy a bum. People got on me for saying the cliche ... that he's a bulldog with a good attitude. I did hate on Rios and Dunn, but admitted several times last year Dunn was handling it all well. Many of you bagged on Ozzie for not benching Rios and Dunn, though. I pointed out you don't sit guys making that kind of jack. This board exploded for Oz not pinch hitting for Dunn and benching Dunn and Rios after KW said it was OK. I was not as hard on them as MANY others on here. 2.) That makes sense, but how many at bats will Robin give Morel to see if he's "performing better?" I'm thinking that back problem isn't going away anytime soon. 3.) Under. I say between 20 and 25 a game. It won't turn around this quickly.
  20. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) The heat generated from this game is spilling over into the game thread. I love it. The mod needs to umpire this game instead of the clueless hack behind the plate.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Wow, that's some quality ignorance. That's even bad for the world of the anonymous internet. They should make everybody print their real names and addresses and posts like that would stop.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) Although umpire supervisor Charlie Reliford was clear that no warning is needed by the ump was deemed to be intentional. Which it surely was. Crain vs. Rodriguez. So in umpire logic it's better to miss so badly the hitter laughs at the situation, whereas they deliberately fire a baseball into our runner at second base. Asshole umps.
  23. QUOTE (Allsox @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) I didn't care about the beanfest until my favorite Sox player of this season, Alejandro De Aza, got hurt by this nonsense. Sweep these f***ers out of this roller dome, that's the right way to make them pay DeAza is one of the feel-good stories in all of baseball. Hopefully he'll soak that knee real good on the day off. I bet he misses one game max. I bet they call it a bruise.
