QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) I guess the question then is...do you think Jake Peavy can stay healthy enough to be worth $23 million over 2 years? No. If he is pitching this well at the break, and somebody wants him, trade him. I do love his style, though.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) Its 16 games into the season, Rios has had a great start before, only to completely flame out. Im one of the few people who have consistently believed Rios can do better, I just have been burned to many times by brief glimpses of "good" only to be followed by long stretches of "bad". That's why I hope Kenny is working the phones trying to get rid of him. I'll take this nice April and go with Fuko the rest of the way as the Sox use that money for other players I like better.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) Oh, so he did waste something of yours... I don't just blame him. Plenty of blame to go around.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) Ozzie was negatively impacting the team and not trying to win. There is empirical evidence of this. Why would you support him? Listen, he was fun. Ozzie being Ozzie was a blast, and he was a HUGE reason the team won a World Series. Things came to pass, and he turned on your team and he turned on you, Greg. Ozzie gave up on this team so he could get out of his contract and get involved with all the fun that was a new franchise in Miami. He wasted your time, he wasted my time, and he made the White Sox look like a bunch of idiots. Yes, it wasn't him alone. Dunn and Rios falling apart last year and Greg Walker also get their blame. However, Ozzie did not manage to win, and you should at least be willing to admit this, and also willing to move on and enjoy what so far has been a best-case scenario for the White Sox in 2012. Your inability to recognize this makes you the Ozzie Guillen board troll, and also makes me wonder why you don't just root for the Marlins. With all due respect, you are insane. You said: "He turned on your team and he turned on you ... He wasted your time, he wasted my time, and he made the White Sox look like a bunch of idiots." You also said: "Your inability to recognize this makes you the Ozzie Guillen board troll, and also makes me wonder why you don't just root for the Marlins." 1.) He didn't waste any of my time. Last year was the only year I regretted my mlb package. Our team sucked big time but we still finished close to .500 as I recall in the worst year in memory. 2.) I haven't followed Ozzie or his team at all. I did follow the problem he had with the Castro stuff. Yeah, I'm a troll. I'm definitely a troll.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) just effing stop, greg. we know how you feel about ozzie and this is not the place to discuss it again. he's no longer here. get the f*** over it. Look. I'm commenting when I feel like it. There has been post after post ripping Ozzie that I ignore. Once in a while I am going to respond until I get banned. You look at all the anti Ozzie posts in threads and I have rarely commented on them until they finally piss me off, so don't tell me to get the f*** over it. Thank you.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) I'm not even sure Elmo himself couldn't have managed this team more effectively than the last couple of years of Ozzie. If you think Ozzie is (was) bad, what do you think of Ned Yost? Even in our worst years, Ozzie had the Sox with a decent record. He's one of the best managers in Sox history if not the best IMO.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 10:13 PM) I really don't see a reason to just dump Dunn's contract if he continues playing well the rest of the way. He was the definition of consistency before last season and a strong 2012 would go a long way to prove that 2011 was a complete aberration. Furthermore, this organization is almost completely void of left-handed power. To let go of Dunn for nothing in hopes of bringing in an even more expensive free agent or have a hole that must be filled via trade seems incredibly foolish to me. Cmon. Do u realize how bad Dunn was last year? Right now you cut your losses as soon as some team wants him. We can find some other DH. Again, that said, good job so far this year, Dunn.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:35 AM) Maybe the 2012 slogan should be "Earning their contracts." QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:52 AM) This has been a really good road team the past couple of years, so winning streaks on the road against bad teams isn't much of a surprise. It would be nice if they could win a few at home this year. 1.) Great line. I like it. 2.) Who cares? After losing 3-4 to arguably a mediocre Baltimore team, I like this a lot.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:36 AM) Not comical to me this guy has had MAJOR arm issues. I know what you are saying, but there's no manager in baseball that pulls Peavy there. He's a horse who is like Verlander and wants to complete what he starts. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. If he had thrown 107 pitches entering the ninth, maybe Jake would have agreed to sit, but he was at 97, right? -
Ugh. Bad matchup vs. Phoenix or bad performance? Hawks go down quietly, losing at home again. Another team that hasn't done much since winning a world championship. Weird hex our championship teams have.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:14 AM) I'd rather have him leave on a positive note. Why risk it? I really don't care what Jake wants. Risk what? Pitch count is still fine. If we lead 6-0 or something prolly no need to trot him out for the ninth but I wouldn't be upset if he is allowed to try to finish. -

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:12 AM) Just score 3 more runs...then can bring Peavy out without questioning it. Jake deserves a shot at complete game with this pitch count IMO. -

Are Sox fans convinced DeAza is special? I think he's damn good. Deserving of 500-580 at bats. -

The Morel-Beckham show in this inning should help both their confidence. Nice at bats. -

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:07 AM) Do you bring JFP out for the 9th? Or hand the ball to Santiago? I know what Peavy wants. Does Robin give it to him? Gotta bring him out. Pitch count is OK and he's Jake f***ing Peavy who demands the ball til his arm falls off -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) He shot one to right field nicely in his first at bat, as he had better balance at the plate. The best thing that could happen for Viciedo is to hit a homer to right field. Maybe he changed his mechanics a little after hitting two homers during the early part of the season to left center? Beautiful double. Should we bunt him to third? -

Robin must be sensing a 15-inning game leaving Dunn in to run. Weird. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:43 AM) He's had some bad years, but how many guys can say they're 2 time All Stars? Danny Manning was a 2-time all star in the NBA and was nothing to write home about. it happens. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:32 AM) Alex Rios is pretty good at baseball. I wouldn't go that far, but he's having an A-plus month. I'm close to saying DeAza is pretty good at baseball. Beckham ... ugh. Hopefully we can complete the deal tonight and win again! -

Dunn is actually helping the White Sox win games. I just wonder how he is catching up to pitches and hitting home runs. If he keeps this up, last year will be forgotten before too long. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) I'd just like to add that I don't want to get rid of "this" Rios. We put up with the crap Rios for years, and it seems like he may be turning a corner...trading him wouldn't produce much of a trade because of his salary, so instead of getting nothing in return, I'd like to keep him if this is the version of him we will be getting. Waiting until he's playing good and then trading him would make me sick, especially if he stays good and some other teams gets to reap the benefits after the years of frustration we had to deal with. I'd sooner keep him because his contract would dictate little to no return in shedding him right now. I totally disagree. He's hot. See if a team desperate for a bat will take him off the Sox hands. Dump him if anybody is dumb enough to take him. That said, good start for Mr. Rios and I applaud his numbers.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 06:25 AM) On the other hand, it can be useful as simply an indicator of progress. Last year, he was mired in the 500's and low 600's for OPS much of the season. Of course, he hit amazingly well the first 2-3 months of 2010 and it didn't last for the whole year. That said, any positive signs of progress have to looked on skeptically until he proves he can sustain it. But yeah....that triple to the RCF gap, usually he would roll his wrists over and it would have ended up being pulled to the SS on the ground for an easy 6-3 PO or a made-to-order GIDP. It's going to be very difficult to every move Alex because he's probably going to be either so bad you can't move him without eating his salary or the White Sox will be playing so well it would seem counterproductive to trade him...especially with Viciedo struggling out of the gate and no minor league replacements in sight...and no, Lillibridge can't be considered as an everyday OFer, nor can Fukudome. The minute Boston wants Alex Rios, you trade him. The second Boston wants Alex Rios, you trade him. Please call Boston now. I only rip Alex here in response to your post. He's had a nice April and I applaud him.
