April Fools Joke White Sox DFA Jake Diekman
The Kids Can Play replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Evidently Pedro forgot to look at Diekman's numbers thus far this season. In 8 appearances: 6 innings, 7 BB's, 7 ER's, 10.50 ERA and WHIP of 1.83. Pedro you're up 3-0 with only three more innings to cover and this is your first bullpen choice? This trainwreck is now gaining serious momentum heading down the rest of this season! -

As the old saying goes, "Nice Guys Finish Last." Again, this all about Rick Hahn who continues to send this team further backwards as a loser organization and embarrassment to this city and major league baseball. His handling of the rebuild since 2016 has been an nightmare debacle. He has done a horrible job of building a competitive and healthy roster, securing a productive bullpen and now he couldn't even make the right choice for the team manager. He got a pass on TLR, but this one is clearly on Hahn. -

I'm going under for whatever the number is as I think they will have a good fielding night! -

This just might be the best lineup especially knowing TA can't be in it. I hope Burger has a great game tonight and makes several good fielding plays besides maybe getting a home run or a few hits tonight. Hopefully for a change the team starts being more patient at the plate and get those good counts to hit and come through with runners in scoring position. -
I'm sick and tired of Hahn's BS excuses, "we all know we have something to prove nonsense."

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
The Kids Can Play replied to LittleHurtCG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This has nothing to do with black or white. My only point was I don't give a damn who is the next owner of the White Sox is, just as long as its not Jerry Reinsdorf. I'm sure if the team is sold, since reportedly Hobson owns 30%, which is only based on hearsay and nothing factual. However if she were to go all in with more money and investors to own the Sox outright, I would be perfectly fine with Mellody Hobson as the new owner. She is an extremely successful business person with really strong credentials. She couldn't screw this organization up any worse than the POS Reinsdorf already has. -
I totally agree. It works fine for football and hockey.

Great advice which I absolutely do daily, because of not only wanting to live a long life, but to see the new White owner come in -

You're absolutely right and its very sad for such a great baseball club. The Bucs and Lightning always sell out because they are in that perfect downtown Tampa area. The St Petersburg area is a nightmare to go to. Plus the Tropicana stadium is one of the worst ballparks in baseball. It is an dump compared to the more modern stadiums today. The problem still remains they are tied into a long term lease and it doesn't end until 2027. It was a stupid long term lease in the first place to sign back in 1995 for 32 years. -

Sadly you are probably right. I guess we wait until he passes away and according to many, he told his family in his will, to sell the team. He is 87 years old and counting. Many of us god willing, will have more years left than he does, so in time hopefully the Sox can be owned by someone that actually gives a damn and wants to win. -
I get that, but in todays' version of making the playoffs and as its been for quite some time the Sox would have been in the playoffs. In 1965 they were one of the best teams and had zero chance of winning the WS. Hence why MLB got smart and added more playoffs teams years later.

That is 100 percent correct! Hence why the Dodgers went and recruited Andrew Friedman. They knew they had the money to spend and compete with anyone, they just needed a sharp GM to be their new president and build a farm system and draft develop prospects well, along with having as much money as he needed to spend on FA's -

That's a great question and maybe this year will be their year, but they have been in two World Series since 2008, which two more than the Sox. The manner and success in the way TB runs their club, it's just a matter of time until they do win one. I truly believe if the Rays were owned by some wealthy billionaire like the Mets Cohen or Yankees, where they could spend real money in FA, besides their awesome drafting and farm system success, I do believe the Rays would have won a WS by now. -
From what I read and know from reading old baseball history, the 1965 Sox were just too many years before MLB woke up and added more teams in the expanded playoff format. Sadly in 1965, the Sox were the 2nd best team in the AL and 3rd best overall record in MLB and didn't have a chance to compete for a World Series title.

Who the heck could the Sox even sign in FA next year?
The Kids Can Play replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Whoever the Sox sign in FA in the off season, I pray it isn't Rick Hahn or Kenny Williams handling it. -

You mean like the Tampa Bay Rays do with one the smallest yearly payrolls and one of the highest yearly ranked farm systems? Of course we all know, it will be a freezing day in hell before this ever happens here until the POS owner dies or sells the team or just maybe, fires the loser GM Rick Hahn and goes and steals a smart executive from a winning baseball organization and culture...perhaps like the Rays. -

Great example from a great organization. As it's been said numerous times here, the Tampa Bay Rays always pull off great trades, or score big through their draft every year. They have been doing this since 2008. They are the poster child and absolute blueprint (bar none), for how to build a successful and consistent winning major league organization, with one of the smallest payrolls every year for the last 16 years. They are off to their best start ever at 12-0 and one win short of the all-time best start since 1900. Of course once again, they are doing it with a 28th ranked payroll. However they still kill it in the draft and through proper development of their pitchers and position players in the minors to maintain the #6 ranked farm system. Many years ago, the Dodgers wanted this TB knowledge so they recruited away Andrew Friedman from TB back in 2015, but the Rays still haven't missed a beat and the Rays Braintrust still exists there. Since 2008, best records for MLB teams: 1. Dodgers - 1365-946 2. Yankees - 1345-995 3. Cardinals - 1294-1044 4. Rays - 1279 - 1062 21. White Sox - 1125-1216 Sadly, with all that success over the years, the Rays attendance has always been near the bottom the league. Currently they are averaging 16,769 in 7 home games in 2023 which is 27th. I have a brother who has lived there for 20 years and I am fully aware of why logistically the Rays have poor attendance numbers. However it's still shameful and sad the Tampa fans don't appreciate what they've had for so many years. Yet we as the die-hard Sox fans would absolutely die to have the Rays be our home team. I am sick and tired of this yearly mediocrity from the POS owner and the tons of false promises from his loser GM Rick Hahn and his pathetic front office. Please Jerry sell the god damn team once and for all or fire your horrific GM Rick Hahn and his FO morons and go steal some smart executive away from the Rays. -

He probably does love it, but just knowing that makes it even more sickening that Reinsdorf owns the team. Any other owner in baseball with these many bad years, bad drafting of players, bad free agent signings and bad trades would be effen livid and would have fired Hahn's ass a long time ago, However not with our demented POS owner, who worries more about his ego and being vindicated that his previous drunk manager TLR wasn't the problem. -

Wtg Gavin, way to close out the 8th inning with yet another weak groundball out and running to first base at a snail's pace. Why are we playing Sheets anywhere? He can't play right field. He showed us yesterday he sucks at first base fielding as well and now he cant hit. What a wasted draft pick and at 6'5" 220 lbs, with zero home runs and zero extra base hits. -

Lucas has looked awesome today and his velocity, location and movement is his best yet this year. He truly doesn't deserve to losing 1-0 through 5 innings. -
