Per Benetti, Lambert to start Thurs over Banks
Seems like it's worthy of some sort of countdown thread.... the mandatory option thread.

HOME OPENER GAMETHREAD 4/12/22: Sox vs Mariners (Velasquez vs Brash) 3:10 pm CDT
Yes it was nasty. Crazy horizontal movement. Tight and late breaking. I'm OK with him not recognizing THAT pitch. It's the rest of the at-bat that I have a problem with. Putting yourself into a position to have to defend against that pitch to begin with? Not good.

That last slider that Eloy swung at near (not close enough to be "at") was nasty.

Interim 5th Starter?
Some might describe that as "tradable"

Current Team Mt. Rushmore
Quintana, Sale, Eaton (2016 edition), capped off by Lynn dropping an F-Bomb.

A's interested in Andrew Vaughn/Sox in Montas
If these things don't come to fruition, at least we will have had some good conversations / reading.

Interim 5th Starter?
maybe a better link here if you're an Athletic subscriber: https://theathletic.com/1750136/2020/04/16/stark-the-home-run-that-broke-baseball-reference/

Interim 5th Starter?
Not true.

AJ Pollock to go on some sort of inactive list soon, type TBD.
Can we IL platoon Pollock and Engel? It's a new concept I just invented and I'm 100,000% sure nobody has ever thought of before. Just mandate that one must stay on the IL at all times. As soon as one goes down, the other is instantly activated.

Put Burger at 2B (or Yoan at 2B and Burger at 3B)
Newbie question: Is this the appropriate time to start a "Put Burger in the rotation" thread? Sorry, but Burger's defense at 3B is average. His bat is going to be above average hopefully, but a major league roster on a team supposedly contending for a world series victory is not the place to teach a questionable defensive talent how to play a middle infield position.

Giolito leaves with injury, being evaluated
Put Burger in the rotation. Makes just as much sense as putting him at 2B or any place other than a corner infield spot.

Yes... depending on your definition of "walking distance." There's also free street parking available near the stadium if you don't mind a walk. There are also bars, restaurants, etc., by the old Tiger Stadium site (which is now a community ballpark) that have free shuttles to the games. Plus tickets are pretty easy to come by, so it's definitely worth a road trip.

As a Detroit area denizen, downtown is a really nice place. The stadium district and down toward the river are really f'ing cool places.

TLR 2022 Thread
I have nothing to contribute at this time but look forward to grabbing some popcorn and reading this thread regularly. Thank you.

Are the 2022 White Sox better than the 2021 team? On offense, yes, by a lot!
I have no concerns about the offense. Harrison > (last year's 2Bmen) Pollock > (last year's RFers) Just gotta hope it's enough to make up for the lack of starting pitching depth.

Cueto to Sox (Official)
No argument here. That was basically the dagger in Cleveland's hearts. Yeah, they got closer after that, but you could tell that was the turning point.

Sox Acquire Reese McGuire for Zack Collins, Officially
Tube Sox? I'll show myself out.
-
Gio will start opening day
Honestly I am hoping it's Lopez as the 4th starter.
-
Sox may have interest in Cueto
...which then brings up the other point - why not grab the free draft pick?

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
That's what I'm worried about....

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
Assuming they pull the trigger soon, yes.

Crochet having Tommy John surgery Tuesday
Coop Katz will fix him.

Kimbrel traded for AJ Pollock
Seems like a rare win-win for two contending teams. Sox dump an extra piece and pick up a legitimate RFer for the first time in years. Dodgers trade away an expendable RFer and pick up a bona fide closer who basically didn't have a role.
