  1. Yeah I was trying to figure out: 1. Who used to be considered “good?” 2. Who has a long history with the Sox and is on Jerry’s good graces? 3. Who has a proven track record of failing to adjust with the times? 4. Who could Jerry potentially consider as having been “wronged” through termination of employment based on job performance? To me, the right man for the job is Don Cooper.
  2. It’s the scientific method. I’m kind of excited to find out. It’s a nice test to see if the minds Getz is bringing in are actually worth a damn. I remember being excited for the Barfield hire. Maybe this is the start of whatever the opposite of a Bozo Explosion is.
  3. It’s “old school” and “new school.” Just the worst parts of both.
  4. Maybe. We’re about to find out, I think.
  5. We wouldn't be able to sign any high-caliber FA for the foreseeable future anyways. What I WOULD like to see them do is to start spending money on an analytics department.
  6. So he (indirectly) brought in Sizemore. The one thing that Getz seems to have done well, in my opinion, is to bring in more progressive minds as his lieutenants. He hasn't done well on trades, and most of us think he's done a s%*# job as player development director, but it seems like he's making good hires. ...so that's.... something.
  7. Who all has Getz brought in as a GM? I can think of Bannister (good hire) and Barfield (jury's still out). Was Sizemore brought in under Getz's watch, or was he a holdover from somewhere in the org from 2023?
  8. “The Touki Matchup” sounds like some quirky Netflix teenage rom-com, like some spin-off of “Never Have I Ever.”

Why would a losing franchise take on Robert? Why not trade him to contender? A contender will be more likely to part with assets for a player like Robert. A losing franchise won't.
  10. Pretty sure you just described Tony La Russa.
  11. Meh. To each their own. Was it a little much? Maybe, but well within the bounds of reasonable.
  12. (for the record, other than the cringeworthy "stand up" thing, his call there seemed good)
  13. It's nice to see JR getting raked over the coals, but unless it comes from his inner circle, it won't make a difference. He's so arrogantly insulated that it doesn't matter what anyone outside of his inner circle says or does.
  14. WRONG!
  15. I have no disagreements with what you say.
  16. …but apology accepted, if that was on your mind.
  17. No worries, and no need to apologize. Just appreciate your openness and willingness to talk about this.
  18. We can’t even be the best at being awful.
  19. As a personal favor to someone (me) who has zero beef with you, please find a different word. I work with people with various developmental disabilities, and hearing the “R” word being thrown around so flippantly as an insult is disrespectful to those extremely kind-hearted, hard-working, and loyal individuals who are just trying to make the best of a tough go of life. Thank you in advance.
  20. Benny's actually been okay during this losing streak. Like, he's actually pulling his own weight and hitting at an above-average production rate.
  21. He was going to get Tommy Edman for him, straight up.
  22. So the Sox haven’t won since the Immaculate Inning by Kopech. Wow.
