  1. Intelligent reckless spending is the key. It's hard... it's challenging... but with some of the younger "core" (if you want to call it that) coming up like Montgomery, Ramos, Zavala, C Edgar Quero, Nastrini, Schultz, etc., it's not 100% outside of the realm of possibility to hit a few metaphorical home runs.
  2. Maybe. If we get a reckless owner who doesn't give two craps about profit and is willing to intelligently spend through his / her teeth and above their means, I wouldn't rule out a quicker turnaround.
  3. Whoever that GM was who brought ReyLo into the Sox organization probably deserves a raise. </sarc>
  4. My point is that it's a "both" problem. It's a player problem, too, and if the players don't recognize that, they don't deserve to play big league baseball. It'll be interesting to see someone like Tommy Pham come in. Any bets on the first fist fight in the dugout?
  5. If the players are making fun of Pedro, the players need to go. If, with the way they're performing, they feel they can criticize anyone else, that's just a complete lost cause.
  6. Pretty sure this is the reason for a balanced schedule
  7. Isn't that what Ricky Renteria was?
  8. Leury Garcia (we’re still paying him).
  9. A lot of us know that 4-5 years of unwatchable baseball are in our future, regardless of intent by the front office, unless JR dies or sells.
  10. Can that be the prize for Soxmath? It might make Soxmath worth watching. It's like combining that with this: https://www.facebook.com/thebsblr/videos/a-white-sox-fan-got-tony-la-russa-to-put-in-a-pinch-runner-during-last-nights-ga/409246274527838/
  11. ...so what will work?
  12. Not to mention his walk-off homer against Cleveland in September. That was really the nail in the coffin on the division race for me.
  13. I wonder how much better this team would be right now without Pedro. We could be like 6-15 with this lineup. We could be legitimately challenging other clubs for 29th best record.
  14. Yeah we just have to kick his kid out of the clubhouse.
  15. JoeC replied to Johno's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good enough for a 2021 first place Sox team at least half the time, but not good enough for the 2024 version which may be the historical worst…ever. #Soxlogic
  16. Yeah. Tough call with so many untouchables.
  17. One thing that always stuck out to me about Python is that all of their sketches have one ridiculous or outlandish premise, and all of the decisions and actions are 100% logical once you accept that premise. I feel like that is a perfect metaphor for Sox fandom.
  18. Is Leury available still?
  19. What IS on Getz is bullshitting us all and trying to sell any modicum of a message that they'd be competitive this year.
  20. Whit Merrifeld with a solid .408 OPS... which would be good for only 4th worst in today's Sox starting lineup.
  21. If he made it to first without injury, that's an improvement over at least 33% of our lineup.
  22. ...unless it's Mike Clevinger, apparently. But yes - all Fedde has to do is prove himself to be a solid #4, and he'll be well worth the signing for the return we'll get
  23. At first I read "C Edgar Quero" like "C" was his first initial... like J Edgar Hoover.
