Dead peeked out of his coffin last night. If I had my guess he'll be 6 feet under once again by the end of the homestand.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) If you want to judge how he is now, why wouldn't you just use his 2005 stats? You can look at those as well. ERA is pretty decent, WHIP is horrible at over 1.3. If you are going to use the argument that we haven't seen enough in 3 years to tell how good he is, I'll say that 15 or whatever innings he's thrown this year aren't enough to tell he is any better than in year's past.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Come on Alex, you should know better than to judge a guy based on 80 innings of work. Go back and pull up Greg Maddux's, or Randy Johnson's or Curt Schilling's first 80 innings and tell me what you see. I am not saying Neal will be a superstar, but that is a pretty short sighted bar you are using to deterimine a guys career. He may turn out okay, I'm just tired of his defenders saying he is good now. He isn't. He needs more seasoning in AAA. I thought it was funny that people would think that if you threw out the starts that he was pretty good. A 4.86 ERA as a reliever is simply not good, whichever way you slice it. Even Botch has a career era under 4. Unfortunately we don't have anyone else who can take his spot right now or do the job any better.

By the way, just FYI for all of the Cotts apologists: Numbers as a reliever: Innings worked: 79 and 2/3 Earned Runs: 43 ERA: 4.86 Walks: 38 Homers: 11 K: 72

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) his control issues and his limited pitch selection make me worry the more hitters she him. On a positive note, I have never seen someone dominate so much as he did in the all start futures game in 2002 Didn't he give up a run? I think he gave up 2 hits and a run in the first inning.

*Official* Eric Chavez Speculation/Dream Thread

Just say NO to Vinny Castilla! -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Take out the games Cotts has started. What would his career ERA be FWIW? It'd still be well over 4 I'm fairly certain of that. And for a reliever with s***ty control, that sucks.

*Official* Eric Chavez Speculation/Dream Thread

I'd say they would want at least B-Mac and 2 good prospects for him. That said, I'd love to have the guy. And I also cannot see them taking Crede as part of a deal for Chavez. -
QUOTE(BlizzardOfOzzie @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Getting rid of Perez would be a horrible move. I think Willie Harris, Timo Perez, and Ross G-LOAD are perfect utility players for the type of team we have right now. Speak for yourself.

Anyone remember when we played TB a few years ago on July Fourth. Carl Crawford and Koch.... :puke :puke :puke
-
With the 8th Pick of the Draft, The Tampa Bay Devil Rays select.... Craig Hansen, RHP, St John's University
-
Career ERA is still over 5.50. Get back to me when he puts together a consistent effort for a while rather than a few good games.

HELL YEAH!

DEAD MAN WALKING!

QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Why are people still defending Crede? He's clearly an offensive bust with terrible BA, OBP, SP......... So his defense is in the top half of the league. Big f***ing deal. He's not what they told us he would be. Thank you, Peter Gammons.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) The topics on the first page are: '...Walkers nuts would be in my vise' 'Who is the better defensive shortsop?' 'Jokers Wild' 'Who is on your Sox wishlist' 'Sox notes: Takatsu needs to clear mind' 'New Beer Policy' 'White Sox and al-Qaida' '2005 Game Log' 'The last 10 days' 'Attendance 05-30-00' 'Ozzie's most dubious managerial call yesterday?' 'Terrible Topics today' 'My first game on the road' ''sup with Hermy?' 'Frank leaves game early' By my count, there's one thread critical of Ozzie, one critical of Crede, and one critical of Greg Walker. I don't see where you're getting this "same crap over and over." Several were deleted earlier today.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Those two minor league MVPs mean diddly-squat right now. No s*** sherlock, but to insist that he won't do anything all year is kinda stupid IMO. He'll have his usual hot streak later in the season. He hits .276 lifetime in August and .310 lifetime in September. Also his career OPS in both months are over .800.

When similar threads keep popping up all day, people tend to get annoyed. We are pretty damn lenient about most of what is posted around here and rarely delete any threads.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Crede will always be terrible. However the entire team outside of one or two guys cannot be slumping at the same time. The law of averages say this cannot happen. I mean as much as I think Crede sucks right now, he was a two time minor league MVP and there is a chance that he could get hot at some point this season. This is not Crede defending, this is just logic.

If possible, I'll do Tampa Bay.

The reoccuring theme is that a bunch of newbies are posting the same crap over and over. That cannot be disputed.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) Can't you see aboz, if the Sox lose, it wasn't because the other team was the better team that day, it's because someone on the White Sox is f***ing up. Hell even when we win. That's why these threads are worthless. I've already deleted about two just like this today. It's crazy how much people b**** about a team with the best record in baseball.

Did I already mention that I'd take Koch over him...I think I did.

Wow, another crappy thread pops up. Why am I not surprised?
