  1. Look at the standings and our record in one run games. Then look in the mirror because you'll see someone who is totally wrong on this.

    Heartbreaking story

May our thoughts and prayers be with them.
  3. I am deleting the pictures that were linked. Try to show a bit of class.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) What are the pitching match ups.......as of right now? Looks like this: Thursday: Garland vs. Chen Friday: Buehrle vs. Lopez Saturday: Garcia vs. Cabrera Sunday: Contreras vs. Bedard
  5. What happened to the opposing team eating s***?
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) Hopefully Francona is less of a jagoff than Joe Torre. I still can't believe we only had one representative last year...and it was Loaiza! He knew they were gonna trade for him....
  7. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) I agree but you can vote online now and at the ballpark so the popular Yankees and Red Sox will have all the starters this year! The fans pick the position player starters, not the pitchers or backups, which is where our players will come from. We won't have any starting position players voted in.
  8. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) The one things thats scares me, (even though we shouldnt be thinking about the playoffs yet) is the lack of experience this teams has in a playoff enviroment.....With the exception of MB and Garland our pitchers have some experience amongst them, but if Garland keeps pitching this way I could see it being MB, Garcia, JG with duque and jose coming out of the pen....As long as MB and JG dont get the jitters it sounds pretty solid to me.....the only thing is the offense Personally if we had one game to win in the playoffs, I'd go with the Duke just based on his track record. Nothing against our other guys, Mark included , but that's just me.
  9. What a problem to have... a logjam of pitchers. Kudos to our minor league system for a great draft last year and for starting to turn our system back into what it was a few years ago.
  10. IT's still way too early to talk about the all-star game. Talk to me in Mid-June.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) lots of people on this board will deny it. I think their was something to it though. Of course there was. Just from talking to Wunsch I got the sense that he felt he was getting a raw deal.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Rex and Alex can probably tell us again about Wunsch's lack of velocity last season or something like that, and that's why he was down in Charlotte. Who were some good free agent LOOGY lefties that we could have signed last season, instead of Shoe, if someone wants to post a list. There was something between Kelly and KW, although it never really came out. I asked KW why Wunsch never came back up this year at Soxfest. KW said Cotts was better, which I kind of agree with to a point because Cotts is a lot more versatile than Wunsch. I remember being down on the field last year before a Charlotte game talking to Kelly and he didn't seem too happy that he wasn't with the big club. The times I saw him pitch he appeared to be fine and now he's on LA so apparently he has something left.
  13. I also suspect that the longer you keep this thread going along the bigger chance you have of getting flamed by someone who finally gets tired of reading you. Just some food for thought.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) We should have signed a decent lefty reliever or kept Kelly Wunsch, quite honestly. But Kenny seemed to not like Wunsch for some reason. Didn't they have a run-in or something? But I understand why Cotts is on the roster -- he can long relieve. Shingo has been bad because he has been getting behind in his counts instead of throwing strikes early. Vizcaino is giving up way too many hits but at least he hasn't been giving up the longball as much as previous seasons (minus yesterday). That's Viz's M.O. Yes, Marte has been shaky just because he has actually given up more walks (10) than hits (9). That's pretty strange. He has still gotten out of jams though. The funny part is we are 24-7 and you are wondering why we didn't keep Kelly Wunsch. I guess its true that some Sox fans are never happy.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Marte's struggled a bit with his control but I mean his era is in the low 2's somewhere, the guys been getting the job done, period. Exactly, he is not where he will be come mid-July with his command yet his era is in the 2's. The guy is a flat out stud.
  16. I will settle this idiotic argument once and for all. Neal Cotts has shaky control, yes. He's always had shaky control. When he was great in Birmingham a few years ago he walked a ton of guys. At times he struggles mightily with his command, but he can also be lights out. He may need another season to work on his control in Charlotte, but right now he is our 2nd lefty out of the pen and is our long man. He is most certainly better than Jon Adkins or anyone else on Charlotte besides Brandon McCarthy. Kevin Walker got the call, whoopty freaking doo. He'll hardly pitch. And when he does, it'll be when we are either getting blown out or winning by several runs. In fact I am glad some of our younger arms, like Bajenaru and Munoz, stayed in Charlotte where they will get regular work and not rot in the pen. If Walker does get to pitch and doesn't perform, he'll be sent packing. Right now it just so happens we don't have an off day for 10 more days so we needed an extra arm. And on Marte's struggles, it's mighty early in the year to trash a guy who has been our best reliever over the past few years. Don't sit here and give us stats ala Juggernaut. The bottom line is Marte is a go to guy out of the pen and a month where he struggles will not prove otherwise.
  17. everyone should just stop responding and let this fall off the front page...starting now!
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Okay, Captain Obvious. Glad to see you have a sense of humor.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) If you need to resort to personal attacks, why bother involving yourself in this debate? That's not a personal attack my friend.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) A leadoff walk is one of the worst kinds of walks to issue because the offense then has 3 outs to knock that runner in. Thanks for that, captain obvious. I was sure they got 4 outs.
  21. Jabroni, do you like to argue just to hear yourself talk?
  22. As much as I don't like Wells, Buehrle has given him a lot of props for teaching him a few things during his one year stint with us. I am not surprised at all by this comment.
  23. Baj will get more work in Charlotte than he would up here. In a way this could work out better for him.
