Oh, the memories, Cotts was pissing himself back then and he's still doing it now. -
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 15, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) lol Expect to see me and my insightful brand of commentary in there throughout the game. Not for the weak at heart at all when you've got guys like Nuke, Jabroni and myself in there trying to analyze.

Personally, I am done with the Neal Cotts experience. As much as I have supported him and given him a chance, he belongs in the minor leagues. The guy can't throw strikes. He can't strand an inherited runner. He can't get lefties out. Exactly what is he useful for? Don't give me "his era is under 4". Last night when we needed him to hold Baltimore down, he wet the bed. He's wet the bed the whole time he's been up here. All those starts that he pissed away when he first came up that got the roulette wheel started. The Josh Phelps homer in Toronto last year. Then stunts like last night. Get him OUTTA here.

QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) I'l like to make a wager that when the Sox lose, a big ole vein sticks out on NUKE's forehead because he can't tell the other team to EAT s***! I'll make a wager that he is the funniest poster we have around here bar none.

Sweeney won't be up this year when rosters expand my friend unless there is a major injury or we are out of contention. The guys that could be up are: Anderson, Lopez, Bajenaru and McCarthy. They're already going to have to put Anderson and McCarthy on the 40 man (if they are called up), they aren't going to put Sweeney on too. He doesn't even project to be on the MLB roster next year IMO. He'll be in Charlotte. I figure they'll pull Borchard from the 40 man at the end of the year if he's still producing at his current rate and put Anderson on. Then you'll see Reynoso replaced with B-Mac.

THe most unfortunate thing is we don't get to knock around Ponson this weekend. (Sorry Steff.)

Nuke, you haven't made them eat s*** the past two games and we've lost. What happened? -
QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) I will add this, if Contreras doesn't show some marked improvement in consistency, he too will be gone. If they're stuck with him, i.e. he's bad but no one wants him in a trade, Sox brass will suck it up and he will be long relief. I know they talked about him in a closer role and yes, he has the stuff. But his performance last nite (5 walks) show why it's not the best idea. What bothers me with Contreras is that if he'd just throw strikes consistently he could be flat out dominant. He seems to try to be too perfect instead of just trusting his fastball and forkball. He's got a bad habit of not getting first pitch strike and then falling behind from that point. Coop needs to get him back to working faster and throwing that first pitch fastball right in there. He's got a good defense behind him, let them make some plays. He is beating himself with the walks. I agree Jim, if he keeps walking guys, he will be long relief next year (or gone) because we sure as hell don't want a closer walking guys like Shingo has this year and Koch did the two years before.
-
It's Ozzie's fault for leaving him in 115. The guy needs to throw 90-100 max if we want him to last all season.
-
Have a great one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McCarthy was at A ball a year ago at this time. The time to bring him up is not right now. As long as we are getting quality starts on a regular basis he will stay right where he is. In fact, he'll still be blocked next season with all 5 of our starting pitchers returning. The most likely scenario next year is making Count the closer and bringing up B-Mac for the 5th starters role with Marte and Hermy setting up for Count. Shingo will be gone.

For that price you should at least get a striptease.
