QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) She goes to my school. Not to rehash this, but does she get bashed by any Mariotti haters or not? Just wondering.

I'd go to the Apple store on Michigan avenue, sometimes you can catch a refurbished ipod for even cheaper, which I did on my 40 gig. If not, you can still talk to someone who knows a lot about all of the models and get the 4gig for $200.

Hope you both have a great birthday.

QUOTE(eveninfirstplacetheseatsareempty @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) The book, Cubs Nation by Gene Wojciechowski, just hit the shelves a couple weeks ago - which is where the reference came from. You're banned so you can't repond to this. :fthecubs

Official Game Thread 5-3-05

Colin Cowherd had some good discussion on this today. However, I'd like to know more on the topic before I pass complete judgement. Sounds like these type of "uppers" are used more often than I thought by today's players. More information would be helpful if anyone knows about these type of "substances," which I am unfamiliar with.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) A Tigers/White Sox brawl wouldn't be such a bad thing. If you remember the last time that happened, we went on to lead the majors in wins...Ahh the memories of 2000.... I remember we were led by a Magglio Ordonez karate kick.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) eligible? Who cares. This isn't fantasy baseball. It matters if they can play these positions, not if they qualify or not. The sad part is some people actually look at a game like it is fantasy baseball. :headshake

QUOTE(JimH @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Very logical the Cubs would be interested in Cintron. In terms of the White Sox, they tried to pry him away during the winter as Yas stated. One thing about Williams, he is always looking to upgrade. Given that, and given that Cintron is a talent whom the White Sox like, it is certainly possible. The posts made about team chemistry have a lot of merit, and the bench has been serviceable. Tough to complain about the job Ozuna and Harris have done, the occasional screw up by both notwithstanding. Both have contributed and the team has a great record. The fact remains though ... Cintron is a desireable talent and would provide excellent insurance, especially at SS and 3B. Two things to consider here, the first is Arizona likes Cintron a lot and he will not come cheaply. The other is, if Cintron comes on board somebody has to go. Another thing to consider when looking at the Sox bench is, who can play 1B. I guess Widger can and since Ozuna did it I suppose he can as well. Williams has once again stated he wants the flexibility of Frank Thomas being able to play 1B for the interleague games (if he's even ready by then). They have not shut the door on Frank ever playing 1B on occasion, whether we agree or disagree. Right now, the White Sox are not an ideal situation for Cintron either. But I can definitely see if AZ moves him, it will be to an AL team. For the record, I like Cintron a lot and he is better insurance at SS and 3B than Ozuna. In no way do I mean to minimize the abilities and contributions of Ozuna or Harris but Cintron would be a welcome addition. This is very good insight on the situation, but it all boils down to this. What would we have to give up to get him? If any of these names (B-Mac, Sweeney, Anderson, Fields, Gio, any of our good prospects) are involved, I don't see us getting involved. Why? Because this is not a pressing need for us like it is for the Cubs. And based on how stupid the Cubs can be about trading away talent and with Nomar out, I see them overpaying for him long before the Sox.

Garland Haters and Lovers prior to 05'

Personally, the only Sox hater I really ever got an humor from was Poppy Hidalgo. Wonder where he is. Saw him a few times earlier in the year. -
Strange coincidence, my mom is from Anderson and my Grandfather still lives in the area.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Garland figures to make what? About $6-7 million in arbitration if he wins 16 games or so? Does that sound like an accurate conservative estimate? I'd say 6 million at the most unless he is a 18-20 game winner that makes the all-star team.

Anyway, it's pointless to argue about who would win a fight. Bottom line is, Rondell White needs to be knocked on his ass.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Which is it.. he had no intention of going at him.. or he pulled a "hold me back..." It's the same thing, he had no intention of going at him hence he tried to act tough by acting as if he needed to be held back. Had no one touched White, I guarantee he wouldn't have charged the mound. And had he, he woulda been treated like Robin Ventura.

QUOTE(Brian @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Rondell had a bat. True, maybe I should rephrase. In hand to hand combat, I'd take Garland.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Love the Carlton avatar Alex. So bad it's classic! Thanks, just saw it on another site and had to have it.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) White acted like a sissy.. I agree with that. However... had him and Garland gotten into it.. White would have kicked his ass easily. Based on what, he had a chance to charge the mound and didn't do it.

Maybe he was talking about our high-octane pitching staff.
