Just a question, do you ever use anything besides a bunch of jumbled up stats?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Vazquez is predicated on the belief that AZ is not going to be in contention in the West & that the trade that was talked so much about with Koney as the centerpiece will resurface in Jun. If we trade Konerko our offense goes from suspect to downright awful. Not going to happen. I expect Konerko to sign a multi-year deal before the season is over.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) Valpo was the one that saved the streak last year. Sounds right, now that I think about it.

I've got the 8th graders if you give me the points.

If anyone has had a chance to see the previews from The Weatherman with Nicolas Cage, that's a movie that is set to be released, filmed in Chicago. The real thing of interest is that they filmed it last summer, but there is snow all over the movie. How'd they do it you ask? Tons of fake snow all over the place, which took a lot of work by the crew on the movie. They actually brought fake snow downtown during the dog days of summer to film some of the scenes. Should be very interesting to see how well its pulled off when it releases.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Eh I was thinking May Simien dominant, Frye isn't better then Wilkinson and we all saw what he did yesterday. Frye is better than Wilkinson, IMO albeit not by a lot. He's on a much better team, plays against better competition than Wisconsin does and is a guy with a lot of experience. One reason Wilkinson looks so outclassed against Illinois is because Illinois has better athletes, presenting huge matchup problems for Wilkinson. The same probably wouldn't be said for Frye, assuming they even get to Illinois. A brief look at their numbers. Wilkinson: 14.3 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 56 assists, 31 blocks, 45 Turnovers. Frye: 15.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 61 assists, 66 blocks, 54 Turnovers.

I'm going to go to the IU game wednesday versus Vandy. Since IU is on spring break, should be pretty easy to get good seats and I still have my student id, luckily.

I believe this would have happened last year as well, except that IUPUI went dancing.

I've got Michigan State, for obvious reasons.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) o i got them in the Elite 8 as well. Im just thinkin about their chances of beatin wake. what do u think Who knows, although if O'Bannon shoots well, Garcia plays like he is capable, Dean plays well and their inside guys hold their own, they can beat anybody.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Louisville really really intriuges me. Im having a hard time figuring out where they fit in. Right now Im thinkin of havin them beat GT but lose to Wake. I really want to put Louis. over Wake but i just cant do it. What do u guys think I've got them in the Elite 8, just because I've seen them over and over. Their losses: by 5 to Iowa in Maui, at home by 2 to UK, a bad home loss to Memphis and a loss by 3 on the road earlier in the year at Houston. They were clearly penalized for scheduling a weak non-conference schedule and for their conference being the 5th or maybe 6th best in the country. I think you'd be wise to put them farther along in your bracket, although the second round game against Georgia Tech does seem like an awful hard matchup.

We are underway, although the Cubs announcers are horrible. -
They are ranked #4 coaches, #6 AP and they get a 4 seed, what the hell?

Well I had my annual fantasy auction yesterday. I'm in a 12 team, keeper league (you get to keep between 5-10 players) salary cap league. The cap is set at $275. The league is 5 x 5 (avg, hr, runs, rbi, sb, wins, saves, whip, strikeouts era). Last year I got 5th, I'm hoping to do substantially better this year. Winner gets around 400 smacks, so it's pretty high stakes. Here is my roster, I'm open to any and all suggestions, in fact I welcome them. Catcher: Pierzynski, AJ CWS 1B: Konerko, Paul CWS 2B: Durham, Ray SF SS: Matsui, Kaz, NYM 3B: McPherson, Dallas, ANA Middle Infield: Iguchi, Tadahito CWS Corner Infield: Nevin, Phil SD OF: Bonds, Barry SF OF: Matsui, Hideki, NYY OF: Edmonds, Jim STL OF: Pierre, Juan FLA OF: Crisp, Coco CLE Util: Cameron, Mike NYM Util: Kendalll, Jason OAK SP: Schmidt, Jason SF SP: Buehrle, Mark CWS SP: Garcia, Freddy CWS SP: Greinke, Zack KC SP: Webb, Brandon ARZ RP: Takatsu, Shingo CWS RP: Cordero, Chad WAS RP: Percival, Troy DET P: Arroyo, Bronson BOS P: Wells, Kip PIT THoughts? Opinions? Strengths? Weaknesses?

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) i agree, i dont know if u's saw him yeasterday but he was so bad...i was like who the hell is this crappy ass pitcher. >Jeez, i think bmac will pan out to, but everyones raving about him, saying how good hes pitched.....he only pitched in 5.1 innings- in spring training! I don't judge my assessment on one outing, I judge it on several factors. 1) His arm problems, which popped up basically with no explanation and set him back substantially last season. 2) The fact that in professional baseball he never really threw as hard as they said he was throwing in high school. From some of the people I've talked to, mainly Jas who has seen Honel, the guy's velocity was vastly overrated coming out of HS and he never really threw as hard as they said he did. 3) Before this offseason, his work ethic and habits off the field. I know he worked out with Tracey and McCarthy this winter, but before that, I'd heard rumblings from a few people (one worked with a Single A organization that faced the Warthogs often) that Honel didn't take very good care of himself off the field. For all of these reasons, I don't really consider him to be the prospect he once was, if one at all.
