Game. Good try Buerhle. Not sure how wise it is to IBB Morneau there. As good as he is, Kubel's had quite the year himself and with nowhere to put him, after falling behind in the count MB had to come right over the plate with it. -

It's amazing that pitchers like Buerhle and Petitte still catch guys on first. You;d think people would learn by now. (And yes I know this is like an inning late) -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Another strong game for Richard. Russell in relief. I think the Padres like the trade. He has an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP of over 1.6 with the Padres. I'm not rooting for the guy to fail. In fact, I hope he does great, but he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire over there. But why must we always create threads about people we trade away or constantly bring them up elsewhere every time after they have a good game?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) Well, I don't necessarily agree with this either. Podsednik should have been running a bit harder. If a ball is hit to LF, he is going to get back to first regardless of whether he is running tentatively or not. Also, Podsednik should be a bit more advanced in terms of base stealing and hitting and running than your average player. There is not a huge difference between Scott just going on his own and Scott going on a hit and run. Would anyone have been surprised had he gone on his own there? The problem comes in when the runner gets no jump on the hit and run. He actually got a negative jump, as he was headed back to first base on first move. He then ran only because he felt obligated to because of the jump. So it was a combination of two bad things happening at once - Gordon sees Scottie break back to 1st, then doesn't swing (not sure if it was because of what Scottie did or because he just missed the sign), then Scottie runs because he saw the sign and feels obligated to run despite the horrible jump. Bottom line, it was just botched all-around. Not gonna defend Pods overall baserunning ability, but it's a lefty with limited experience. There might not be too much video of his pickoff move. And being a hit and run he prolly just wanted to play it safe and not get picked off. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) shut him down because he's lazy in the off season and doesn't work out, which leads to fatigue in the second half? Just my speculation... I really don't think that's the case... -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) have we even seen crede this series? I heard the Twins broadcasters last night say he was taking cortisone shots and responding well to them. Crede's days as a professional ball player may be limited or done already, however. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) I’m sorry, is this going to be an “I was more of an amateur player then you so, I’m holier than thou” type thing? No it's a "you clearly just demonstrated you have no idea what your talking about" moment so I figured I'd ask. Cuz if you had, you'd know that a hit and run where the batter doesn't swing almost always results in the baserunner looking foolish. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) He still got caught. No excuse not to run under the expectation that Gordon might miss. You didn't play baseball in HS did you? -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) I figured it was about to to reopen a 2016 Olympics thread as we draw close to the offical voting day. One month from today we will know who the host city will be: Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro or Tokyo Olympic Committee Report Finds No Clear Front Runner For 2016 Games I think it's a race between Rio and Chicago. My gut says Rio takes it in the end... and I am more than OK with that. I think I agree with you. I would absolutely shocked if it went to Tokyo or Spain. But Tokyo in particular I feel has zero chance. They say they pick cities, not countries or regions, but the recent/forthcoming events in Europe/Asia will factor in to the voters' heads guaranteed. I think it could either way. The IOC wants to give it to Rio so badly. I think they are just afraid of the safety/crime factor and infrastructure there right now. Chicago is probably their number 2, but it will have been 20+ years since the US has hosted a Summer Olympics, plus the Barack Obama factor, I could easily see it coming stateside as well. It's 50/50, but like you, if I had to place a bet, I'd go with Rio.

Luck. I had just graduated and sent out probably 50 or so resumes to insurance companies, banks, big businesses etc and just so happens one of the companies was looking for someone with my degree to fill a position. It was luck because I knew nothing about the company when applying and they hadn't been advertising the job since it was being created and they didn't even know all it would do yet. Right time, right place.

If anyone is familiar with data3/AS400 (IT guys), my Dad has a worked on creating that when he worked at IBM. IBM owns a patent in his name on the mouse interaction ability with the data3 program or something like that.
