  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) What about the GM? He built a team full of crap hitters. Riiight
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) /does math f***.
  3. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) We're talking about the bullpen, not the staff as a whole. If the bullpen goes three inning and gives up 1 run, their earned run average is not 3.00. Yes it is.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) Bad News, but not fatal. Sounds like Peavy needs a couple more days. Give me Hudson over Torres please. We can take solace in the fact it's due to a fluke occurrence and it's not conditioning or existing injury related.
  5. Peavy likely out as starter Everyone who's been clamoring to see Hudson may get that wish on Saturday. In Yankee Stadium no less. I'm pretty sure I'd give that start to Torres if it was me making that decision. But obviously Hudson's rise this year has not been unnoticed outside of the Sox too.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) No, I agree with your premise. I’d just slot a couple guys above him with AJ falling no further then 5th or 6th in the order. I wouldnt. Nix, Alexei, Rios aren't possibilities. Dye isnt working. Quentin was there yesterday and failed to produce. Thome is better lower IMO. Beckham has been fine in the 2 spot. That leaves PK and AJ. I think Ozzie is just trying to shake things up a bit.
  7. Konerko with his yearly triple. Half our team may have had an inside the parker on that too.
  8. QUOTE (Nixon @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) except socom isn't fun and no one on PSN uses/has mics. This isn't SOCOM though. And SOCOM 1 and 2 (pre-codebreaker) were pretty great games.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) FIU sold its soul and soon it'll be on probation. Who does FIU think they are if they by pulling this stunt? It's comical. They have a somewhat decent recruiting class coming in this year and next though. Isaiah still is a big name, if he can help pull some talent from the south I could truly see him turning that program into a decent mid-major.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Dont know if this is "weirdest" or not, but a nice fight got caught on camera the other day: TKO! Wow. What a douche.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) And I would think Chris Getz is Chone Figgins or Freddy Sanchez from the majority of what I read on this board. He's never been talked about at all in those realms. I don't what you're referring to.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) What the hell is Ozzie doing? Why is Rios batting 8th and Nix 1st? Furthermore, why is AJ batting 3rd? Because he's been our most consistently good hitter for pretty much the entire season?
  13. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Those second half numbers are still better than what Rios has given us. Man, he is going to be overpaid. No, they're not. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) This week on: FUN WITH SAMPLE SIZES! +1
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) I know there is 'Dotel love on this board. He has been far from effective IMO. I haven't examined all the stats, but my own eye tells me he's a base on balls machine and a guy I don't want on my team. I hope we get rid of him. Only guys worth a s*** in our pen are Carrasco who is good for what he's asked to do; Bobby and Thonrton. Then your eyes be deceiving you. Dotel is better than 65% of current day major league relievers. (non-closers)
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) So this means Viciedo won't be in Chicago in September... interesting. Why does it mean that?
  16. Unless someone blows us away (which probably won't happen) AJP had better not be traded if we want to compete next season. He has had a phenomenal season. Too bad it's best lost in this team's mediocrity.
  17. Might be slightly early for this, but a couple interesting stories up on ESPN so i figured what the hell. This doesnt need to be pinned yet but I didn't wanna create separate topics. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4422145 So apparently, FIU, Isaiah Thomas' new team, is threatening to pull out of the Coaches vs Cancer Classic b/c they are scheduled to play UNC. They say they agreed to play Ohio State and the organizing committee is saying that wasn't so. Great way to begin your tenure, Isaiah. Also, Elliott Williams cleared to play this year for Memphis His mother is sick and he's from the area so the NCAA granted him a waiver.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4422520 Reinsdorf pulls his bid. Some bid from the NHL is now on the table for the Coyotes. You know, I don't know why they just don't allow Ballsillie to purchase the team. It is by far the best offer, and Hamilton is leaps and bounds a better city than Phoenix. That team should never have been moved from Winnipeg. I really wish some group from Hartford would jump in and make a bid.
  19. Marketing analyst for a company that provides parts primarily to the Government (and all their subcontractors and DoD contract winners) and Commercial Air industry.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) I hate the production on Cities of the Underworld. The guy thinks everything is the most amazing thing ever, the music is overly dramatic and some of the camera work is annoying. Meh, the guy's into it. I know if I got to go and see of the stuff he does I'd be pretty mesmerized and awe too.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) AS much as I love Gordon and the over the top posts we've seen regarding him I now realize how special Frank Thomas was when he came up. The guy was just flat out intimidating and seemed like he could never slump. A once in a lifetime type hitter. Which is why I laugh every time someone in the media tries to say they aren't sure if he's a first ballot HoF'er.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Unfortunately I don't get Nat. Geo. History and Discovery are usually pretty good, but more and more they're throwing on garbage like Ax Men,Ice Road Truckers, Ice road Loggers, Swords, Deadliest Catch, etc. etc. And the production on their new Clash of the God show is crap, though it'd probably be good otherwise. edit: Yeah, and garbage like Monster Quest. Planet Earth was phenomenal. I can still watch it over and over. Not all their series are crap though. Cities of the Underworld, Histories Mysteries and Decoding the Past are very interesting. Also Gangland can be very entertaining as well. And the new show Pawn Stars is awesome. But my favorite "series" has got to be Locked Up Abroad. I just love that show. It's on Nat Geo but it's really very interesting to me.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) They may not talk down to their audience enough. Seriously though, NOVA blows away most anything Discovery or History does and its without commercials chopping it all up. I actually think History and National Geographic do a great job. I really enjoy those channels
  24. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 05:30 AM) I dont even know what that is, but you disgust me 256 player online shooter, 3 possible factions. Original creators of SOCOM are working on it. It does look and sound pretty badass if they can pull it off
