QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) For the contest...I think a new thread should be started. And to help the thread stand out, call it...NERD ALERT!!! You know, I know youre joking, but there's really nothing wrong with being well-informed about other places around the world. In fact, I find it depressing how many people know absolutely nothing outside of their little spheres they live in nowadays. It always cracks me up when people mention Africa as if it's a country, for example.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Yeah, Barack, get on this Olympics thing, man!!! And yes I actually mean that, selfishly. In all seriousness, how can it be that he "doesn't have time"? I mean he'll address the IOC quickly, attend for a couple hours but asides from that his time will be in a hotel or AF1. It's not as if he won't have access to pretty much anything he'd want/need.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) This might be the most sane post of this thread. Am I the only one who thinks the Getz/Nix platoon has been one of Ozzie's best moves of the year? I'd like to see it going forward as well. As of now, I'd agree. I fully believe both players will get better, and they are the kind of players we need in the lineup. It continues to amaze me that people complain that we don't get players like the Twins, then when we do they get jumped all over. Neither player is a star, but IMO they have had pretty respectable rookie years. Not every team can have nine 20 HR all stars like a couple AL East teams. Finding players like them can be key.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) Maybe he is waiting for more than the normal smugass one sentence posts... I curse Kenny Williams for not bringing players like Viciedo or Flowers into our system last off-season. Oh, wait...

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Mine is drunkchimp. Would you be interested in being on a EASHL team? Would love to. Let me know if you get one started. PSN: hungryj0e

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) It's a number. Well they aren't roman numerals. Care to elaborate?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Are you being intentionally dim here, or are you just oblivious to what Nix has been doing all year? According to all the advances metrics Nix has been worth 1.3 wins for the team this year. He is 2.9 runs above average defensively, and .2 runs above average offensively. By almost every account, but your “eye test” Jayson Nix is a very good player. Committing errors? He has 13 errors in roughly 80 games in the IF this year. That's not good. Yes, he's made some great plays and shown some plus plus range, and I'm not even saying I don't want him back next year, but let's not pretend he hasn't made way too many errors for someone who is supposed to be a "gloved god" in the infield.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) So they should be covered. Far be it from me to prohibit insurance companies to choose what non basic procedures they would cover. Agreed that they should be able to cover whatever legal procedure they would like. What I disagree with was the mandating of it. (Which upon reading your post again, I realize you never said). It was mentioned in one of the posts above.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) And its bulls*** that he has to tiptoe around it to begin with. It's a legal medical procedure, and can be at times, medically necessary. Insurance companies should be able to cover legal medical procedures, no matter who is funding it, as long as the plan specifically covers the procedure. Some cosmetic surgeries are legal medical procedures that can be, at times, medically necessary as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Actually, yes, I think I could, or close to as good anyway. I used to do that as a kid, if I was bored, I'd draw maps of the US or other places. For fun. I used to do that with flags. So in the "skills that don't matter" department, I can describe the flag of just about any country in the world now, haha.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) Can either of you draw a free-hand 50 state map as good as Franken? I could draw a pretty decent one, but not like his.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) Are we talking US Geography or worldwide? QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) The subject was US, but I am flexible. As with history, I'm much better worldwide, but still not too bad with US.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) Danks is a long way from being a major league player at this point. He's still a better bet than 99% of 7th rounders of becoming a solid major leaguer.

If anyone watches Raising the Bar, an episode this past season was about a similar case. It is getting absolutely ridiculous. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) I'm a geography nerd, I love maps, no way I would mistake any states for land locked or not. I would challenge anyone to any sort of geography test. Utah is great, I'd just say not quite as great as the others. And most of the Grand Canyon, north rim included, is in Arizona. I'm pretty confident I could beat you.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) The Massachusetts senate today joined the Mass. House in giving governor Patrick the ability to appoint a temporary replacement for Senator Kennedy. The Democrats could be back to 60 Senators tomorrow. LOL. Not that I necessarily think this is a bad thing in general, because as Balta said it is an improvement, but given the circumstances around this particular case, it just makes me laugh.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Rios is a career .280 hitter and has only had 2 seasons in his career where he's hit under .280: this season (.242) and his 2nd year in the bigs (.260). He hit ~.295 for a 3 year stretch from 2006-2008. Tell me again why he's not a .280 hitter? Because it helps his argument to say that players with good years this year (PK, AJ) will regress but those with bad years will continue to have bad years.

This is probably a retarded question, but I'm thinking about picking up NCAA 10 and I'm wondering how would I get a roster file with all the names in it? Is there a way to download someone's roster online through the game like there is in The Show?

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) Tracy Morgan Alec Baldwin makes that show. He's a comic genius in my eyes. Fixed
